I went there with a group of friends and all of them hated their food and thought they paid too much for it. My food was fine and was actually a bargain. I had the eggs and peppers grinder and it was fine and I've always had a delicious fruit smoothie from there. It's the kind of place where you can find real weirdos, which I love. This is my go-to place for good, cheap diner food. I always get the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on French toast bread, and it's always amazing. My boyfriend is more adventurous in his choices, but I always steal a bite of what he's eating, and it's always something tasty. HUGE fan of this place. My best friend and I try to come at least once a week because it is the kind of place that just makes you want to be a regular. I have never once had to wait to be seated. Everyone who works there is so nice and welcoming. The food is simple but delicious and very inexpensive. You can get a huge plate of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast for 5 or 6 dollars. We received our food over a half over late and it was completely cold. The food quality was disgusting. Corned beef hash was actually spoiled and smelled rotten. Potatoes were undercooked and cold. We received a refund for our order but not until their staff was absolutely rude about it. This is a classic diner with a cute atmosphere, but unfortunately the quality of the food is just ok. I love diner breakfasts, but the home fries are soft and the omelettes tend to be dry. Pros: The waitresses were very friendly, and the place has a very welcoming feel. Also, as other posters have noted, the place is really inexpensive. Cons: It is not very clean. The grime on the windows and walls doesn't inspire confidence. The food wasn't really to my taste, but it was so inexpensive that I wasn't expecting anything too fancy or fresh. I had strawberry pancakes, which were actually plain pancakes smothered in a strange red (strawberry-ish) topping, lots of butter, and Reddi-wip (i.e., whipped cream from a can). The NY Diner experience is completely lost in Boston, and Mass Diner is no exception. The prices are low and the wait staff is excellent. The food is disappointing. Whatever your concept of an omelette, Greek Salad, or burger may be, take it down a few notches. Three of us came in on a Sunday, the wait was less than 5 minutes. We sat at the counter, watching the back of the cook doing his job in a very cramped space. The mission here is to get the food out fast-- no frills, no details, nothing nice about it. If you want cheap and greasy breakfast- this is the place to go! During peak hours (sat and sun mornings), the diner is quite busy and you may have to wait for a table to open up. Usually waiting isn't a problem for me, but in this case there isn't a real waiting area in the restaurant...so you have to wait outside. The service is also bit chaotic since there is usually only one waiter waiting on 10 tables or so. You have to be pretty easy-going to enjoy this dining experience. If you go in with low expectations of service and decor, they will surprise you with decent food and a lower than expected bill. So just chill and enjoy! read more

Mass Ave Diner, I guess its called restaurant? It's a diner. 70-80's sitcom diner perfection. A little tacky a little run down...but absolute perfection. The service is lovely. There are little soda jerk stools in front of the "kitchen" which is within customer sight. I always get the egg white omelette with American cheese, last I checked those tyrants at Rosebud diner, wouldn't let me get 1)my egg white omelette and 2) eat an omelette after noon. Mass Ave will let you do anything. Good coffee. My chef- boyfriend's omelette is always tomato, feta and onion, (I think it tastes like beer) but he loves it. He actually makes people from work come here to witness home fry perfection. I conclude this review with an A.D.D. blurt fest: Dark dark Rye Toast!!! And! Sausage options. Links or patties, need I say more? ok, I will-Chocolate Chip pancakes, French Toast! Cheapy cheap! 2 coffee's 2 specialty omelettes, side of sausage links, not even $15.00. lunch and dinner meals. I used to love this place but was recently treated so rudely that I had to leave before our drinks arrived. A friend and I walked in at around 2pm on a Sunday. The cook was sitting at the counter and 2 men were seated and eating. We looked around for a hostess or waitress and saw none. Perhaps she was in the back pissing in someones Cheerios. The cook motioned for us to sit wherever we like so we did. When the waitress arrived she was obviously very annoyed and hostile that we took a 4 person table. Why? I don't know. There were only 2 other people in the place. She gave us dirty looks and practically slammed the table when removing the extra silverware. We oredered coffee and left. As we were leaving she asked why? I said we're going somewhere with a nicer waitreses. Awful experience. We ordered our food at 8:46 and it was 9:40 when we finally saw other people that sat after us finishing their meal. We asked them when we could expect our food and the main lady with dark hair said "is table 6 ready?" The cooks said "I don't have a table 6". They didn't communicate with us for 5 minutes - didn't let us know what was going on. We said we had to go , because we needed to get on the train by 10. Classic diner, good place for cheap eats. The food is your typical diner grub. But it gets an extra star because the people are friendly. My boyfriend comes here all the time, so they know him by now and are super friendly, know his order, etc. Has a nice family-run feel. I wish it stayed open later though! Another wonderful diner to visit. Has a very hipster feel to it as its based almost in the heart of Central Square in Cambridge, one of the more artsy neighborhoods in Cambridge and Boston. Went there on a Friday evening after work, it was not busy at all. There were 2 gentleman running the place, one of them I think was named Patrick. They were very chatty and personable and were considerate of our diet needs and willing to accommodate the meal and substitutions to match our special diet. I ordered a burger well done with no bun with cheese and bacon along with a salad and vegetables. The food was very good and I also loved the local art work that they have on the walls and even bought a Native American painting that they were selling. We asked about how busy it gets for breakfast on the weekends and they told us it gets very busy but they move quick and encouraged us to come back which we will. read more

Stopped for a quick bite for brunch while visiting the area. We waited for maybe 15 minutes for a table. It took a bit of time for the waitress to come around and take our orders and it took about 20 minutes for our food to come. My friend got an omelet, which she was happy with. A little bigger than a hole in the wall. It actually is a diner style and not some imitation. The breakfast food is incredible, I recommend trying the French toast breakfast sandwich.
