fattoush salad, goat cheese and honey plate

Stopped by this spot for dinner before our amtrak train and am genuinely disappointed I just found this spot. Andala Coffee House is structured like a cafe, offering coffee and tea beverages throughout the day and with a variety of food options as well. Since we came for an early dinner, we were only able to try out their food options. When we went in late Summer, the space was airy and we were able to see the grape vines with the birds chirping. Such a vibe! Lots of people were reading and working on their laptops. Now into the food... Thyme garlic chicken - fall apart tender and life changing. Upon breaking into the chicken, the juices were instantly soaked up by the rice. Fattoush salad - Zingy fresh salad to pair well with our chicken. No complaints! Goat cheese and fruit platter - little sweet treat to round out our meal. Absolutely perfect, I had never paired fruit and honey and goat cheese however it definitely will not be my last time.

very cute spot with a great vibe inside. sat on an indoor patio which i loved. latte was delish and so was my omelette. my friend ordered one of the chicken sandwiches but said it was a bit dry. service was very friendly but you kind of flag them down to take your order and pay so a bit of a different system

Was in the area and had to do some work so I found this adorable coffee shop! Upon entering, if you plan on staying, you can seat yourself at any empty spot -- and there's plenty of seating options. You can scan the QR codes scattered around the shop to view their full menu. Since it's a sunny September day, I opted for the iced Turtle latte with almond milk and it totally hit the spot! The drink itself was so delicious and creamy that I wouldn't have noticed that I ordered it with almond milk. The staff was also extremely friendly and made the space feel very welcoming. There were lots of other patrons that were either just doing work, reading, or enjoying a drink. The wifi was quick and not laggy at all. The decor of the shop was also to die for! Overall LOVED my experience at Andala and this is one of the places I would definitely go out if my way to stop by.

Saw good reviews, and finally this is my first time trying this cafe. Ordered grab and go. The service was okay. They recommended several dishes, following the menu. The chicken kebab was decent. The chicken breast wasn't dry, and pretty flavorful. You can tell they marinated with yogurt and other seasonings. The sauce and side salad was meh.... I was hoping for more fiber and greens for this meal to be balanced, but the salad that came with it was very little (as shown in the picture), and quite lots of oil, which made it too heavy to eat as a side for a kebab. The ambience was decent, I saw people working there, some others chatting. Pretty like a cafe that opens all day long.

the chicken shawarma sandwich was really good and had me wanting more. also, the chai latte was really nice as well, not too spiced but not too sweet. service was relatively fast, though i have heard that it can be a bit slow on some days. nice ambiance, especially on a rainy day

This is such a cozy spot to work or meet up with friends. There are tables and mini couches throughout. I've only sat on the main level, but I think they have a downstairs as well. They have a bunch of seating, but it does get pretty busy on the weekends. While they're a coffee/café type place, they still have plenty of regular menu items. I also love that you can order an entire pot of tea. I've stayed here for a few hours at a time, so don't worry if you're looking for a place to stick around for a while. Perfect spot to hang out at on a cold winter day!

Middle Eastern cafe/restaurant in Central Square! One thing I really admire here is the atmosphere. It really feels like you're stepping into someone's home -- family home that's been lived-in for decades type beat. The place is heavily decorated, and each room carries a lot of personality; the main room feels like a cafe where you can see the pastry window and register for carryout, one of the side rooms is a sunroom, and downstairs you'll find a dining room table as well as a coffee table surrounded by couches -- all of these are places you can get seated for full table service! The menu spans breakfast, lunch, and dinner and includes teas, coffee, and espresso drinks making it a good option for anytime of the day. Dishes are colorful, casual, and yummy -- honestly looks and feels like a homecooked meal (in a good way). Some people come just to grab a coffee to-go but this is a really good spot for a slow, laid-back, weekend breakfast and/or lunch with friends (especially when the other Cambridge brunch spots already have hour long queues). When you come, I highly recommend getting the hummus for the table -- it's really freaking good and I don't know why (I usually get the hummus with beef). Other go-to's are the chicken shawarma plate, and the turtle latte (a lot of people talk about this one and I think it's worth it).

I went here on a trip to Boston and now that I'm home I keep thinking about Andala. Considering moving to Boston just for this place. Everything about this place is sublime. The restaurant is very cozy and looks like you've been welcomed into someone's house, there are many seating options and different vibes. I saw people on a date, families there as well as students studying. However, it was the FOOD that enraptured me. The hummus is so GOOD you can't not get it. The entree did have a side of hummus but trust me you want to order a separate thing of it. I wish I could have brought a tub on the plane. I also got the falafel wrap which was huge and also quite delicious. The tabbouleh was more on the tart side but I know some people prefer it that way. I wish I could go back.

Which items are FULLY gluten free on the menu for people with celiac disease? (This means that they are cooked in their own pots/oils /water and the counters are sanitized before mixing gluten & non-gluten, and there is no cross contamination)?

All of the rice dishes are completely gluten free, definitely would be wary of any dishes that come with pita as those have a higher risk of cross contamination from what i've observed of the kitchen

Is the place good for studying/getting work done on a weekend? Thank you!😊

Okay, for a solo adventure I chose the bar and yes, they took me to a seat there. Looking at the menu I knew it was tapas style going in but before I could really start looking at anything the bar tender said, "or, there's a chef tasting." Okay, stop there, let's just do that and add the meat and fish option. To start was the Strawberry Fattoush - Little Gems, Cucumber, Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Pita Chips, Sumac - amazing. Next was the Warm Buttered Hummus - Basturma, Tomato, Black Olive. Still doing great! Then the Fried Mussels - Hot Peppers, Turkish Almond Tarator Sauce. Can't say I have ever had those before! The Spinach Falafel - Tahini, Beet Tzatziki, Pickles was next. Though you could roll it up, eating it that way was pointless. Back to the knife and fork. After that was the Grilled Asparagus - Sorrel Aioli, Puffed Black Rice, Bergamot Honey. Probably the most familiar looking dish of the night. Then the Sultan's Delight - Tamarind Beef, Smoky Eggplant Purée, Basil. Aamazing! Still going after that was the Swordfish - Nettle Freekah, Red Pepper Tahini, Buttermilk Fried Fiddle Heads. Then finally the Turkish-Style Profiteroles - Brown Butter Crème, Sesame Caramel Cashews, Halva with something else on the side. All of this with a Shepherds Pilsner which I believe is my first brew from Palestine. Who knew that was possible? Needless to say, the meal was quite an adventure. Definitely worth it. All amazing as was the service at the bar!

They were also great about letting me sample things before deciding on a drink! This has been on my list for a really long time, and I had seen Oleana frequently recognized as one of the best restaurants in Boston, so I was pretty excited to finally go. I have to say I wasn't blown away but also not disappointed. The portions were absolutely miniature for the price. The zaatar bread was very fluffy and the spread was flavorful but nothing I would order again. Similarly. The fatteh was one of the most reviewed dishes online. The flavor was unique but ultimately fell a little flat for me (basically tastes like lightly cooked cauliflower with caramelized onions, and a light creamy sauce). I will say the one thing that I felt like really did live up to the hype was the Sultan's delight (short rib)- it was truly so good. I liked the marigold and my glass of wine but the limited liquor license certainly restricts their offerings. Ambiance was nothing too unique. Overall, I would probably give this close to like a 3.9 but rounded up.

Reservations were already fully booked for the next month out, so we decided to take our chance and see if we could get bar seating around opening time. It was already pretty packed 10 minutes after opening, and the host told us that bar seating would open up in about an hour, but we would have to wait at the restaurant. Meanwhile, the wait for a table would be almost 2 hours, but we would be notified when our table is ready so we put ourselves down on the table waitlist and went elsewhere in the mean time. We came back after 2 hours, and the table was ready exactly then! I ordered some sort of Mango Mocktail and then my friend and I shared the Black Sea Cornbread and Roasted Sunchokes. Food is very unique with creative twists on all their dishes. The cornbread was delicious - it basically melted in my mouth and I liked how it actually had a kick to it. Very tasty, but just a tad bit salty. I have never had Sunchokes before but they were delicious! Very colorful presentation. A lot of the sauce was at the bottom so it could have been mixed more evenly. Mango mocktail was sweet and refreshing! Overall, Sarma has great, flavorful food and plenty of vegetarian options. My son fully enjoyed his chicken shawarma sandwich with tahini, and I got the combo kebab dinner plate. I subbed fattoush for the salad, and I got all three sauces. The fattoush pita was fried (nice crunch, but greasy), and it was not heavily spiced, so not the best I've ever had, but not terrible. I did not care for the garlic sauce; the tahini sauce was basic, but the babaganoush had an incredible smokiness to it. This is the kind of place that works beautifully for group outings, thanks to the big, long tables that make it easy to settle in, share plates, and actually enjoy the social side of dining. The sampler platters and mixed grill dishes are absolutely the way to go. Portions are generous, the variety is excellent, and everything we tried tasted fresh and well balanced. The hummus and baba ganoush were both standouts, packed with flavor and a great start to the meal. One of the biggest highlights was the manti. These delicate, bite sized dumplings with yogurt sauce were pure comfort food and easily one of the most memorable dishes of the night. The haydari (similar to Tzatziki) was another favorite. Rich, creamy, and incredibly flavorful, it's the kind of dip you keep reaching for long after you're full.
