I recently visited Massage Bliss while vacationing in the St.Pete area. I found a Groupon for a couples massage prior to our arrival. I scheduled the appointment a week ahead of our vacation without issue. The location was easy to find, in a strip mall, off of a main road with ample parking. Inside the decor is modest but contemporary and relaxing. We were immediately greeted by the receptionist who was friendly and helpful. There was no issue with processing or redeeming the Groupon. The couples massage took place in a calming, dimly lit room. My partner has never received a massage before and her masseuse was great at taking every effort to make her feel more comfortable with the process. He also targeted sore areas with obvious skill and knowledge. I received a relaxation massage with just the right amount of pressure to induce a dream like state. I'd give Massage Bliss 4 stars. I had called a day before to book a couples massage. When we arrived we apparently never made it to the schedule so they had to scramble around to find two masseuses. We were then told they had double booked the couples' room. We did not want separate massages so they accommodated us by squeezing two tables in one room which was definitely a little cramped for four people. James was great. He really worked out all the knots in my neck and upper back. My shoulders were incredibly tight and he spent the majority of the time working on those. They have a really good coupon in the local St Pete/Seminole coupon book where new clients can get a massage for thirty dollars. This place is a joke. I came to the parlor to buy a gift certificate for a couples massage when the lady at the front desk said she didn't know how to do that. She then said that she was going to have to call the owner. The owner did not answer and the lady working the front said that she couldn't do anything about it. How is it that your front desk doesn't know how to honor a coupon that you have placed in the paper? I will NEVER come to the establishment again. Avoid this place like the plague. The girl working the front was quite rude when I went in on Wednesday. Apparently the receptionist is out of town for the week and the owner is too busy to call back clients. I got a Groupon to try this place out for a couples massage. Called and left a message an hour after booking to confirm that I could have a female massage therapist instead of a male as I am not comfortable with that and the receptionist never asked my preference. I never heard back...ever. I went in for my appointment and brought this up and the lady (still don't know her name) didn't say anything except oh. I then brought it to her attention that the girl I spoke with on the phone offered to give me the same price for the deep tissue massage only and I mean ONLY after I booked the massage on Groupon. I told her I would rather do deep tissue and she said ok you can pay when you get here and I told her I'd already purchased the Groupon as she told me they don't do price matching (it was a Saturday and she confirmed they don't do price matching on weekends but since I am a new client and getting my service done on Wednesday it was ok). Well when she realized I already bought the Groupon, she said nevermind and that I had to pay the difference in the store. Why if I paid Groupon and its $139 to them or to you?? Again, the lady said oh and tried to come up with some dumb excuse instead of just honoring the deal. The male masseuse stayed behind while we filled out our paperwork partway and I told him I was uncomfortable and the whole situation and he said he completely understood. He called the lady who was at the desk and I inquired as to where she went in a hurry and he said SHE is the female masseuse and can do the massage. The volume was up so loud on the phone I could hear the conversation and she refused to come back and laughed on the other end and said, "Tell her to call Groupon to get her money back...but good luck because I already redeemed her voucher." I've notified Groupon of the scam they're running as I paid for a service I did not receive and asked politely to please reschedule. However to be honest, I wouldn't want that lady touching me with a ten foot pole with her bad attitude. This is the best Massage place I've ever been to. I've sent family here, and friends here, and I even put out their cards at my business simply because they have the best customer service, kindest staff, and most importantly the most experienced massage therapists you can find. They don't have scammy memberships like most places, they do a simple rate of $50/hr and they offer specials monthly if you join their cell phone plan. I have NEVER left unsatisfied, the owner, Sarah, gives the best massage I've ever had. I'll be back and I'm currently buying my grandfather a birthday present to send him here next week! We took a big risk imo getting last minute massages in a stranger city... the outside is a bit dicey but don't be fooled this may have been the best massage I have ever had (and I have had a lot!). Very professional staff, great pressure and they didn't chat us up during the massage which is one of my biggest annoyances. One of the biggest factors for me is symmetry as it eases the mind and your body can tell if you skip a step or add something extra on one side vs the other. Adam was amazing, truly. They offered $10 upgrades to the Groupon for a more focused Swedish or deep tissue massage. Both my and my significant other's masseuse did great jobs focusing in problem areas. I scheduled an appointment for a couples massage. We walked in and they told us someone called and canceled our appointment ten minutes after we called and scheduled. First of all my name is Esaria.... very uncommon name I mean I never even met another ..... therefore it is not likely another Esaria called canceling an appointment that we made.... Personally we felt sexually discriminated. There were three other heterosexual couples that they took right back. They blatantly lied to our faces to get us out of there because we are a gay couple. All they offered was to reschedule for two hours later..... we drove 45 minutes across town. Horrible massage. "Relaxation" massage was aggressive, speedy, and damaging. I informed masseuse 3 times he was being rough. At one point he told me breathe/relax through the pain. This was not supposed to be therapeutic or deep tissue!! Wanted to walk out mid-massage, but it was a couple's massage and I didn't want to ruin it for my SO. Called manager to make them aware of what happened, they could not be bothered to return my call after, and I allowed several business days. 1 week later, my back is thrown out and I am considering a law suit. We come here every time we are in town in St. Petersburg. Came to Massage Bliss in Seminole expecting a massage. Received a headache and pain instead. It was Not a massage, it was BS. It was so dry. I asked for deep tissue not be poked and rubbed dry. My nerves are irritated, I have a headache, I got poked (it's not an over active sarcomere), and who massages on the superior angle of the femur and does deep tissues on the lateral angle of the scapula, the lats have many origination and 1 insertion, who tries to stretch QL and obliques on the table, my right scapula hurts is all I know right now and I have a headache on the right side of my head. Pnf on scalene muscles and putting pressure on both sides of the scalene muscles? The guy that left before us was questioning if they're going again there next week. Not 4 years of experience. If my scapula still hurts tomorrow I'm seeing a doctor. Technique rating 1 out of 10, pressure 1 out of 10, use of oil 1 out of 10 structural assessment 1 out of 10, clock read 2:17 not starting finished exactly at 3pm does not equal a $65 session. Overall rating of this place is we are never coming back here, unless you want to possibly get injured then go ahead. We've got many massages from different cities and countries. Never this terrible. I am a long-time regular customer at Massage Bliss, where I get 3-4 massages per month. I have rarely had a reason to complain. I have had massages by several of the female therapists. All of the current ones are excellent: Sara, Nicole, Lara, Ashley. The prices are more than reasonable. It is a private business owned by one of the massage therapists. Most of my massages over the past couple years have been worth 5 stars. A few would be 4 stars, but those therapists are not there anymore. read more

Not very happy with the place. I saw a groupon for a couples massage for $99. When i called, she told me their regular price is also $99 so we can just pay there instead of buying a groupon. I agreed but that was the first red flag that they were advertising on groupon as an amazing sale price but in reality, it is the regular price and they'll still get the full amount since we did not purchase through Groupon. I had to give them a credit card number because in case of same day cancellation, they charge the full amount on the card still. (Understandable but the full amount charge for a cancellation isn't fair because emergencies do come up.) I called a few hours prior to ask if we can move the massage to a later time but they told me they were all booked up, so I told her we will just aim to make it on time. Called them 20 mins prior to let them know that we will be 10 mins late according to GPS. She said "that's fine but we will cut it from your massage time" Upon arriving, she asked us to fill out paper work. However she only told us to write our name and check which upgrades we wanted. There was no section for us to fill out any areas to avoid or any concerns. Thought this was weird because you can really mess up someone's back by not understanding their physical issues first. it took about 10 mins for them to set us up. I also saw signs "$50 for a 60 min relaxation massage" -which means their groupon doesn't offer any kind of discount at all. When I asked the receptionist why they were on Groupon because it is the same price in store, she didn't even respond and completely ignored the question. On the paper they had up grades. I decided to do a therapeutic upgrade for $10 and bf decided to do $10 up grade to deep tissue since he was recently in a car accident. It was $5 for aromatherapy (something most spas already include since it's considered part of the experience). We did that as well just to ensure we would have a great experience. They assigned me (a female) a guy named Willy and paired my boyfriend with a female named jessica without asking our preferences. We assumed it would be vice versa so when they walked in to the massage room, we asked if we could switch as I would definitely be more comfortable with another female. The room itself was very hot and not very relaxing. The pillow where your head goes made it hard to breathe for both of us so we were just breathing through our mouths. My boyfriend had to tell Willy that he was in an accident and the areas that bother him the most. (He didn't even ask/no paperwork was done about what our problem areas are). When he mentioned the areas, Willy's response was "we will see, but depends on the time" He ended up doing only one calf, and the back for my boyfriend and BF describes the massage as one of his weekly PT sessions and only up and down strokes on his back, nothing else. I will say that jessica did a pretty good job. Didn't care too much for hot towels when the room was already super hot. At 1:55, they told us they were done and walked out. Yes we got there 10 mins late, but we only ended up getting a 35 mins massage instead of 50 mins. It would've been understandable since we were late and if there were clients waiting for their appt outside but upon leaving, there were no customers waiting at all. So they really could've spent a little extra time with us instead of just 35 mins. Overall, not very friendly or tranquil like a spa usually is. We do massages every 3-4 months but I don't think we will be back here unfortunately. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. There are better places out there with the same prices. read more

This was our second time going to this establishment, the first being over a year ago when my partner and I used a Groupon he had purchased. The massage staff are wonderful, however upon checking out with the front desk following our massages we were presented with a $90 bill for services? I explained to the receptionist that we had a Groupon that we would like to use, she replied explaining that our Groupon was not valid? Massage Bliss has a policy NOT within the Groupon rules available via the Groupon site that stipulates that only "first time" clients can use a Groupon even though my partner and I purchased our Groupon's separately; this unannounced rule apparently applied to us? We waited to speak to the owner who demanded full payment, not allowing us to leave until we payed. Upon leaving I called Groupon, who apologized for our experience and gave us a full refund, opening up an escalated case on our behalf with their management team. I bought the groupon for a couples massage for me and my boyfriend. I'm a woman. My boyfriend was massaged by a woman and I was massaged by a man named Willy. It was awkward from the beginning as Willy asked me if I needed to "take a wiz" and then they both silently stood next to me while we waited to use the bathroom beforehand and listened to my boyfriend pee on the other side of the door, to which his MT said, "Wow he really had to go", to make it more uncomfortable. So I enter the bathroom, aware they will be listening to me pee. Not something that prepares me mentally to be touched by a stranger. So the massage begins and it seems to be going okay. As soon as Willy begins working on my back I know he can feel my extremely tense upper back muscles because I am a bartender, and that's where I hold all my tension. Willy begins saying, "don't tense up". I tried to relax deeper, but my sinuses had become congested in the face pillow and I was breathing only out of my mouth, which isn't very relaxing. Willy then became ANNOYED with me that I was still tense. He kept asking me to "stop tensing. I can't work on you if you're tensing up on me" and I kept trying to figure out how to not tense up. I didn't feel like I was tensing. I didn't feel like I was flexing. I asked him for advice on how to relax more since HE thought I was tense. His suggestion was to "maybe go to sleep". Oh, okay, I'll just pass out while you shove fingers in to my shoulder blade. I have a hard time falling asleep in general. He pretty much gave up on me with a huff and a puff and the massage was over 5 minutes early. I was crying as soon as we got in the car. I felt vulnerable and awkward, and was then made to feel like it's my fault for being a person with a tight back. I've had a few massages and this was by far the worst experience. On the other hand, my boyfriend really liked his massage, and it was his Christmas present so that was the most important aspect of the visit. She called back and seemed very annoyed and very short on the phone and proceeded to tell me well I'm not guaranteeing your appointment until you call back with your voucher number (but didn't the voucher come right to you like it states and like it did at the hotel I mananged) so I said okay let me go check I'll call you right back. Had I known than what I known now I would've definitely got my money back because she gave me a feeling just off that as if I'm annoying her because I'm trying to book a massage. So I choose a time the day comes and because I'm a nurse to a very busy office I realized I was not going to be out of work on time. I call to try to reschedule and I explained my situation and there was zero understanding nope it's Groupon it's non refundable no you can't reschedule it's a 24 hour notice to so I said well I'll make it there when I do and will have the massage for how ever long we are there. We get there at 15 minutes left of our appointment and a gentleman at the front desk said "I don't know why she did that we had space open you guys can come tomorrow at 6" okay thank you sir will be back. So we go back today after again I rush than my boyfriend had to literally stop a job wasn't even able to get decent and we made it there on time for the doors to be locked and the sign to say closed. So I call and call no answer I start knocking on the door and a woman comes to the door I explained to her the situation and she says no massage on the books for 6 at this point I'm devastated all I wanted to do was give something to my boyfriend to relax him, give him a peace of mind and just to feel better and I feel like I'm being taken complete advantage of and my little bit of money I would put to the side for this is gone. This woman told me he said that because he was agreeing to work for free you need since 4:00 I was not going to be on time you could've told that masseuse like he stated and rescheduled us the next day but no for whatever reason you wanted to be nasty so he waited there the entire time and thN told him if we did it today he'd be doing it for free because the voucher was for the time that he sat and waited for us rather than rebooking us. This woman does not need to be managing her own business it seems way to much for her she does not communicate and has a HUGE lack of customer service skills at this point I just want my $100 to go to a place that will have no problem taking my money. My boyfriend and I almost walked out after waiting 30 minutes for staff to show up. They were not very professional or welcoming either. The massage itself was so so at best. The best decision we made was cutting the massage short. I would not recommend it or return. An awkward experience I wouldn't repeat even for free.
