I had a massage yesterday 7-11-25. It was one of the worst experiences I have had with getting a massage. I was 30 minutes early to get there and fill out paperwork. My appointment was at 300 and didn't get back to room until 3:15. The massage table was a cheaper model with not much padding. 5 minutes into my massage the therapist said she was worn out from her other 3 massages and said she didn't have much energy left for a deep tissue massage. I would never go back there again. I have a massage therapist in my office and know want to expect. They were more concerned with trying to up sell me on products then my experience.. read more

I've had a membership with massage envy for several years now and I'm finally at the point where I am cancelling. It is very difficult to get appointments for massages unless you book really far in advance. On several occasions (at least 4), Massage Envy has called me on short notice to cancel or try to change my appointments (which is hard with my lack of childcare). So even if I book in advance I can't use my membership sessions bc they cancel them! Not worth the membership anymore. Unfortunate because they used to be such a great location. read more

Ryan was awesome. Massage Envy customer service & "corporate" management are subpar at best. Customers with a monthly subscription cannot even use their packages because there are not enough therapists (huh, why not, I wonder). Ok, I understand, but concessions need to be made on behalf of the customers--Massage Envy is not able to provide the services they promised when offering the monthly subscription package. My next available appointment from June 30...is October 5, BUT I have "60 days to use" my 13 credits if I cancel my subscription! The message I sent to "customer service": We who pay monthly CANNOT get monthly appointments, so our credits are stacking up. I understand that since 2020/Covid businesses have lots of issues providing their usual services. This company has made no concessions for the customers who are not being served. You need to. The company is not providing customers the service promised in the membership contract. If we're expected to pay monthly, we have a reasonable expectation to a monthly appointment. The company cannot provide that...but, wait! Customer service claims we have "options": pay $10/month in order to maintain membership & use the accumulated credits, & that hold is only good for 6 months; put the account on hold until your next scheduled appointment, & then pay the $60+ membership fee in order to get access to use your previously paid for credits; finally, one can cancel the membership, & you then have 60 days to use your credits. Pay us to use the money you've already paid us. Those choices would be more acceptable if ME was able to fulfill their service promise; however, they cannot. My next appointment from the June 30 appointment is October 5. Because of the company's shortcomings, I CANNOT use my credits in the "generous" 60 days allotted. I want a full refund of my 13 credits. read more

I had a membership to Massage Envy and went in once a month for a facial. Highly recommend Lisa, she is great and truly the only reason I went here. I have stopped going here because of the staff. I had to put a new card on file and did so on the day of my facial. Instead of charging my membership, I was charged for a facial and my membership. ($64 & $65). I was later told it was a "credit" to use another time and they would not be refunding me. There is a revolving door of employees at the front desk and I have met very few who are friendly and know what they are doing. Scheduling was a nightmare if you called, the app was the only real way I ever got in for my services. read more

My appointments have been double-booked a few times (AND have called to cancel while I'm driving to my appointment and have already taken off work). The last time they double-booked me they did not offer to reschedule me or make amends. Left messages AND emailed the store manager to get a follow up. No one got back to me. While the massages and facials are good when you can get in, contacting this store and getting an appointment are very challenging. The turnover of therapists is constant. When I try to call, I usually get voicemail. When I leave a message, I am rarely called back. When I do get someone on the line, the connection is always terrible. Moreover, they continually call to cancel/change my appointments, which are booked for weeks/months out. Finally, they charge a "transfer fee" if I want to let my daughter use my points. As a member, I disagree with charging such a fee and have no idea why a charge would even be necessary. I am disappointed with how this store is run. read more

My husband purchased a massage for me. I scheduled my appointment, it was cancelled-I could not reschedule until several weeks later. The second massage was canceled. When given an explanation, it's due to staffing issues but no compensation was offered. I live out of the area, and they will not refund the gift card and have only offered that I use it on their in store spa products. I was a frustrated customer, I mean I am mom who doesn't get out much and was looking forward to this but apparently I was "too much" for the person on the phone and I was hung up on. I'm not sure this is the place to go. My husband and I recently each got a membership. Or first massages were good, but not great. We decided that's ok, since an OK/Good Massage is better than no massage. This past week I called on Wednesday to get 2 apts for this weekend. Sorry, they are booked. No problem, I already had an appointment for the following thursday (booked 2 weeks prior) so I'll keep that. I even had a babysitter booked! Today (Tuesday before my Thursday apt), I get a call. They are cancelling my apt. Why? They weren't supposed to book an apt at this time for that masseuse. Is there another apt available that afternoon (when I have a babysitter)? No. Also, the woman on the phone was not apologetic at all. I even had to remind her that it wasn't my fault I was booked for a time I shouldn't have been...I asked for an appointment and was given one. So... The reason you may put up with having an OK/Good massage (but not great) is that you can actually get the massage. If I can't even get the massage...I guess I go back to the smaller companies/independent people with more limited schedules? At least I do eventually get a massage with them. read more

I've been going here for just over a year now. The staff is never the same, it's a revolving door of new faces from the masseuses to the front desk to the managers. When I first found a masseuse that fit me perfectly, she quit because of management. I then had several very bad massages until I found a new masseuse that I like. I even had one guy a few months ago that, after specifically booking with someone that did deep tissue with hard pressure, he refused to give me a massage because "I don't do deep tissue". Every time I go I get excited for a massage, but when I get there I am filled with stress and anxiety. The opposite of what this place is suppose to be. read more

After a 20 minute wait outside standing in the sun- had a sub par facial with a obviously new person. Bright overhead lights - no eye covering. Then greeted by negative front desk reception arguing over pricing. Add on foot scrub as increased to $ 15 from $10. Not worth $5. A sprinkling of a scrub lightly on feet. Not exfoliated or moisturized. Or massaged. Transferred in from another massage envy out of state. Every apt at Columbia location was a constant issue and for a "wellness center" I never felt welcomed or as if I was a valued client. Many scheduling issues, cancelations, understaffed so very limited openings. Would not recommend. Many other places in town with highly rated services and competitive pricing. read more

There's nothing wrong with Massage Envy, but there's also nothing spectacular about it either. I've been here a few times, and always gotten decent, professional massages here. The decor hardly resembles a spa atmosphere. It's not quite as relaxing and "zen" as some of the more expensive private salon/spas are, but hey, the other places aren't this affordable. The main complaint I have is that after your massage is over and they bring you to the counter to pay, they go through a huge sales pitch to try to get you to join their membership program for massages. When I'm paying money to get a massage, one of the main objectives is relaxation, but it's is hardly relaxing to dodge a sales pitch. I wish they wouldn't do that, but that's the nature of a chain massage business I suppose. Bottom Line: You get what you pay for. It's a massage and it's cheaper than most places. If you want the whole spa experience, you'll have to go somewhere else and pay more. read more

I started a membership earlier this year and wish I had started earlier. The staff is extremely professional and have taken time to get to know me. They even called me when I was a few minutes late to check on me (because I'm never late). Turned out I lost track of time sitting in the parking listening to music. My therapist knows who I am and my history. She keeps up to date on my changes. She is very professional and I always walk away feeling 100% better. The establishment is always clean. I have been to Massage Envy quite a few times. My first experience was horrible the woman I had was not good a massage. The other times I have been there the massages were great, the person doing them were a little weird personality wise but non-the-less the messages were excellent. My only big problem with them and why I do not go there, is because they do not have a lot of open appointments, they have appointments set up especially for members who pay the fees, I refuse to may any membership fees. read more

I have had facials but went to Massage Envy for my first chemical peel the other day. I couldn't ask for a better experience plus I was given a lot of helpful information for aftercare. Everyone I spoke to from my check-in, appointment and check out was friendly and made me want to go back. I scheduled my next appointment in 2 weeks. I truly don't like to write a bad review about any business. This would be the extreme case in which I feel the need to help other consumers not to have to be subjected to negligence. For over a year now this location billed my credit card after my son went into the location To cancel the membership. In person, Because he was going out of the country for a year internship. Manager after manager had been contacted. We requested communication with the owner who also never bothered to contact us. Traveling back to Columbia for my sons graduation we went in to resolve still with no resolution. The negligence goes on and on accusing us that we never cancelled the contract. Now we are contacting the BBB. If we don't get a resolution will be forced to press legal charges. We also wrote corporate with no response. Sorry to say I am disappointed in ME and advise customers to seek other massage therapist and spas that don't do contracts and are not chains or franchises. No personal service here. DONT SIGN ANY CONTRACTS. DONT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD. it's hard to believe that it's a year and a half now and that I'm still dealing with this. I was even willing to take the massages at a Florida location and they couldn't even make that happen. I guess they hope that I'll give up. Not a chance. They owe me over $700. Save your money and go somewhere else. My husband and I signed up for the membership in Nov or Dec. 2018. My experience has been less than satisfactory. Since signing up, all the therapists I've had have left. Just when I am excited I found one that is amazing and can work with, they leave. I believe there is a reason when there is such high staff turnover. Second, my appointments have been canceled three times. When trying to reschedule there is never an opening available to move to. I always schedule my appointments a month out because I don't live in Columbia and my husband and I try to coordinate our visits. This is very frustrating. Third, all but one person working the desk is helpful, the rest are not and are not friendly. They definitely do not care if you are happy or satisfied. Unfortunate for the franchise owner as there are many other options in town. I have to be fair and say this is not the experience my husband has had, which is the ONLY reason I've not canceled my membership. He has found a therapist he really likes and seems to be dependable. I've been trying to make this work for me since we do this "together", but will likely be moving on. What a shame. read more

I definitely would not recommend this place...pay a little extra and go somewhere better. Today was my first experience here. I really needed a massage and I figured a place like massage envy, that specializes in massages, would be a good bet. HOWEVER, it was not great. They called me and told me to arrive at least 15 mins prior to my scheduled massage so I could fill out the paperwork so it would not cut into my massage hour. Okay, I arrived 20 minutes early and finished the paperwork in 5 mins. I then waited in the relaxation room until 7 mins AFTER my massage was scheduled to start!! Apparently, my massage therapist was running behind, so it cut into MY massage time and yet she still finished my massage at the scheduled end time (even though she cut out 10 mins of my time because she was running late). WHAT IN THE WORLD?! So then, after I wrote on my paperwork, told the receptionist (or whoever it was who came back to "review" my paperwork, AND told the massage therapist that I ONLY wanted my neck and shoulders done and specifically told her NOT my back, she proceeded to give me a mostly back massage with a little neck massage as well.....but NO shoulder massage!!! I'm not sure what else I could have done other than tell them at least 3 times that I only wanted my neck and shoulders done and not my back! WHAT IN THE WORLD?! And on top of all of that, my massage therapist was sick. She kept coughing, sniffling, and snorting throughout my 45 minute massage...... at least 100 times (trust me, I was counting).... It was definitely not very relaxing at all. And the whole time I was in there, I kept thinking of when I could get out of that place and go take a shower and eat an orange so that I would not get sick after being stuck in that room with her for 45 minutes!! At the end, she did thank me for "being cool" with her being sick and running a bit behind..... As if I had a choice.... Anyway, overall, I would not recommend this place. I say pay a little bit more and go to an actual spa where they specialize in relaxation. read more

Got a massage and then went next door for a wax. I really like that they have flexible scheduling and I can do both while I'm here, on my day off, without a special trip. My massage was great. The rooms are always clean and the ambiance is always relaxing. The therapist was sure to ask if the depth and pressure was good for me. He got a little rough on my back but as soon as I said something he dialed it back and it was perfect. I will continue to visit them for my massage needs. read more

Let me start by saying I never write bad reviews. But the Doctors and I are certain I contracted MRSA at this Massage Envy location. I had a massage here on 12/31/18, and 2 days later I had an enormous infection on my forehead that grew by the hour. It is red, swollen and painful to the touch. I went to both Urgent Care and the ER and they both diagnosed with MRSA. Today is 4 days since the massage and my forehead is still swollen and painful. Again, we're certain I got this from the massage table at Massage Envy. It's absolutely disgusting that they would be that unsanitary. I've paid $140 in medical bill's and medication. The staff were friendly and the massage was good, but safety and cleanliness are more important. As a result I am cancelling my membership, I will never return to Massage Envy, nor will I ever get a massage anywhere ever again because this has been such an awful experience. I'm considering filing a complaint with the State Board of Therapeutic Massage. **UPDATE: Woke up this morning a with an allergic reaction in my eyes from the medication, they were so swollen I could barely open one eye. Had to go BACK to Urgent Care in get a steroid shot and get perscribed another medication. None of this would have happened if they had properly sanitized their beds. read more

I've been a Envy member for 6 years in three different states and after moving to Columbia 2 months ago I can easily say this is the worst location I've ever been to. First, they are understaffed. Don't expect to get an appointment unless it's at least a month in advance. Oh, and unless you specify who you want, you will either get their newest least experienced masseuse who has no idea what they're doing or you will get their worse masseuse who has no repeat clients. Secondly, the front desk staff seems to be comprised of 18 year old students who are incompetent and unprofessional. For example, two weeks after moving, I went in person and transferred one of my massage credits to my mother for her birthday since she is not a member. I was assured that the credit was transferred as well as the gratuity I added via credit card. Later I found out that after her massage my mother was charged for the massage since there was no record of the transfer or the tip I paid for. Long story short, don't waist your time at this location if your looking for a relaxing pampered experience. My advice is to make the drive to one of the St. Louis locations.
