I saw on Facebook an ad offering 50% off for a non member, non introductory facial. I called to book an appointment and ask if I qualified for this offer. I had been at this location one time, years earlier. The receptionist found my previous history and said that I qualified for this offer and I booked my appointment. Everything went well until the checkout. The receptionist quoted me a different price saying that the offer only applied if I was there within a:six month period. I asked for a manager and she said that she was the manager. She wanted to know the name of the receptionist who answered the phone and I did not have that information but I showed her a copy of the ad. She refused to give me the sale price. I paid the bill and called the corporate customer service number. They responded by email that they forwarded my information to another franchise group who did not reach out to me. The goal of the ad was to reach previous clients in an effort to bring them back. I will never recommend them and tell other clients that they fail to honor their own ads. read more

Doesn't surprise me their overall score is a 2.9! *story time* A colleague of mine had given me a "free massage" voucher because she knew of all the anxiety I've been faced with after finding out I was pregnant. Husband and I have tried 3 other times, hopefully the [fourth] time is a charm & not the 3rd this time around. Anyways, she used my phone to book an appointment with my nearest ME. I told her I was available for the latest appointment, however, due to me being pregnant I had to be with a specialist. That part made me feel extra special. Unfortunately, the time slot they had selected for me conflicted with another appointment, so I called in to reschedule it 2 hours before scheduled time. After being told about the cancellation policy (which was not mention over the phone to my colleague by Taylor the employee; neither is it on the little vouchers) Ashley proceeds to tell me "well it's in the notes that Taylor did tell your friend). So would you like to cancel that or reschedule - it's 50% if you reschedule and 100% if you cancel". With hormones now raging, I said this is a gift gone bad! I would hate for something like this to be done to me if I were the one purchasing a gift for someone. I need to reach out to my colleague and call you back because this is some bullshit! As I'm rescheduling my appointment with my physical therapist, I get a phone call from my colleague saying ME is trying to charge her card 72$! The insane part is, they attempted to charge full price for the massage an hour before the scheduled appointment (3:30). As per their policy "if it's a no show they will charge 100%". So why would they attempt to charge said colleague card if the scheduled appointment time which was 3:30p had not passed. Additionally, why would they attempt that charge if i told them i would call them back. Because, let's face it, i had until at least 3:30 right? Apparently not. So, I called ME back and asked them why would they do that? Ashley states "well you cancelled your appointment so like I said earlier, that'll be 100%". After telling her that's not what I said I said I would call back. She proceeded to say "well all we heard was that's bullshit!" Well, Ashley, you're right. I did say it was bullshit. However, there were many words said before that. You heard what you wanted to hear, you did not exercise de-escalation skills, or tact, you used poor judgment, and because "your girls" as you called them didn't do their proper due diligence, the therapist suffers. I was calling back to say my colleague was fine with paying the half price fee, but your approach, catty attitude, demeanor and poor ethical conduct resulted in everyone losing. *** Did I mention she wasn't willing to hear me out, spoke over me, AND hung up on me? When my colleague booked the appointment, she gave her card numbers, but Taylor put my name to it. Taylor never asked for the name on the card, neither did she mention the policy. My husband I joined Massage Envy about a year ago. I have had many, many massages during the years and I have to say, these are the most inexperienced massage therapists I have come across. On one occasion, I told the therapist that I wanted a very light massage. All of a sudden, I felt her pressing down as hard as she could in an area on my back with two fingers. I was in excruciating pain and told her that it was REALLY hurting. Her response was "oh, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have done that". This is after I told her that I wanted a very light massage. The massage itself was not what I am used to. In addition, I was not offered a hot towel afterwards. Scheduling massages was a nightmare and we also had two occasions where they cancelled our appointments hours before we were scheduled to go in. Well.. i dont no how they are doing business. I have been a massage envy customer from past 3years. I'm a current member too. I moved from another state to here. Concord location is the nearest one. So i have been here. 1) If i book way a month before they cancel appointment. This happened 4times. If i try to book within a month we never find appointments. 2) Sometimes i did my chemical peels here. Some time the peel happens, i ask her use the same peel solution so that peel happens, she says yes, but the next time it doesnt happen. Not sure what type of difference will be in peel solution from one sitting to another. I went there 7 sitting no difference, in 7 sitting only 1 sitting i got peeled. 3) normally other massage envys doesnt allow for customers to have 1 application in chemical peel for initial visits, but this location do 2-3 visits with only 1 application to test if it is suitable or not and they charge 2 visits still. is it how they cash money? So that the customers can come always for chemical peel if they dont see difference. 4) i asked them to move my location to this place and submitted a document too. They dont have that record now asked me to submit again. They are not professional. I moved to different massage envy location, little far but atleast i'm able to find what i need. read more

I have had a membership to massage envy in the past and it was ok.I don't have a problem with the membership idea. In fact, I was looking to open a new membership so I got online to schedule an appointment. The site said someone would contact me shortly to schedule the appointment. I understood that it was not guaranteed that the days/times I requested would be available so I patiently waited for someone to call me. After a week or so of not hearing from anyone, I called the location where I was planning to get a massage. The women I spoke to was very rude and just kept arguing with me about not receiving any information about me trying to schedule an appointment. I understand that this may be true and there may be a problem with the website, but she didn't have to he rude and make me feel like it was my fault. She could have just offered to schedule me an appointment. I finally just asked her if she could schedule something for me. Of course they didn't have anything for 2 weeks. I generally prefer a female masseuse, but of course all that was available was a male so I took it. Then, I waited my two weeks and was very excited when they called to confirm the day before. Unfortunately, they called me back only about a half hour later to tell me that they needed to reschedule me because the massuese was sick. Naturally there was nothing available for that same day. They asked if I could come in on a Tuesday. I informed them that no, it had to be a weekend because I work and don't live very close to the location and I have small children. She then asked me if I was sure I couldn't come on a Friday. Um no, I just explained my situation. So it was going to be another 2 weeks. I joined Massage Envy several years ago. I originally hesitated because trying to get a massage before I was a member was always so hard and I did't think they were patricianly friendly. Some locations have been good. I have, however, reached the point where I am so upset at the lack of professionalism not only at this location but the whole business in general, that I am cancelling my membership. Unfortunately, I have around $1,200 of visit credits I have to use over the next 60 days or lose my money. Their website to log in doesn't work, their app doesn't work, and no one knows how to make it work. There is no 800 number for customer service. Called to complain at the location I originally joined at and was told this location is owned by a different company. If I could give it a negative star I would.The front staff is not friendly at all. I had called to say I may be running late. The girl on the other end of the line said quick obnoxiously "that's fine, but you will be cutting your treatment time short based on how late you are"--DUH! I was just trying to be considerate and let them know I was coming and not a no show. Then I got there 2 minutes late and they proceeded to tell me to fill out the survey, which was completed previously and if I didn't, I would not get a treatment. They were wasting my treatment time over a stupid form--all I wanted to do was talk to the technician directly about what I wanted at the visit. 15 minutes were lost and I just walked out. I will not return. I have learned a very expensive lesson. I hope you learn from mine. read more

Even though there is another location 1.5 miles away, I chose you drive 35 minutes up to the Concord Massage Envy. Why?? To see ZAKIA of course. Seeing her is just what the doctor ordered. Relaxing or Deep Tissue, she can adjust the pressure to suit what ails you. I see her for a VERY Deep Tissue MASSAGE. I have spondylosis in my lower back. She is the a miracle worker for pain management. I go in with a large amount of pain, and she helps relieve it. She sends me off with a large cup of water and instructions to ice and rest my back. Sure I may have a little soreness the next day, but that is a sign of an EFFECTIVE massage. Because it remedies the sharp and stabbing lower back pain for DAYS. She even locates other unknown tensed muscles and works them out before it becomes an issue. ZAKIA is a true professional with years of experience. I have been going here for a couple of years. Every time I walk in, I'm greeted by the very polite ladies behind the desk. They immediately take me to the "relaxation room" and my therapist comes to get me at my scheduled appt time. My hour long sessions average about 55 minutes hands-on and thats perfectly acceptable. Before the session began, my therapist asks about my areas of concern and she/he focuses on those during the massage. I have never had a bad experience here. Consistently great service. read more

I've been going to this particular Massage Envy location for 3 years and totally enjoy my membership. Great customer service all the way around. The key is to find a massage therapist you "click" with. I have chronic pain, so someone who had the strength/stamina and knowledge to perform serious deep tissue was important for me. Although all massages I received in the beginning were okay, it took going through a few massage therapists, until I found one that understood my needs, as with any business. I am thoroughly happy now for 2 1/2 years and plan to keep my membership for awhile. I would love to give a zero rating. My husband gave me a gift certificate to massage envy and I decided to try this location. I went for a 90 minute massage and a 50 minute facial. Both times I did not get my full session. They start late and finish early. I was unsatisfied with both sessions. They attempted to sell me the membership after each session which I declined. I still had a little bit of money left on my gift certificate so I decided to schedule one more appointment. Unfortunately I had to cancel the appointment the morning of. I called their establishment and left a voicemail explaining I would not be able to make the appointment. The front desk girl called me two minutes after my appointment time and informed me that I would be charged for the full appointment amount. I explained that I had called and left a message which they had clearly not checked. She put me on hold for a moment and came back and told me they would only charge me half of my appointment amount. I explained to her that that was fine but I would never come back as a customer and she said that's fine and hung up. I understand that they have to charge for a late cancellation. But her attitude was the worst most sour attitude I have experienced with customer service in a long time. They could care less about the customers. Listened to my needs for the appointment and ensured I was receiving the massage I expected by asking for feedback three times. Other than the quiet " check ins" with me, she was quiet and focused on the massage. Husband went the following day and had a similar positive experience. I was a member years ago and was unable to use all the appointments due to family issues and illness. When I mentioned this to the manager after using a gift certificate, she looked me up in the system and gave me credit for many of the unused sessions even though it was WAY past the 60 days from membership end date . It's no wonder this company has been the subject of a class action lawsuit. I would give zero stars if that were an option. So many problems with this company. First, I always arrived at least 10 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time, but was regularly taken to the room late. On top of that, the massage always ends early. As a member, you are paying for one 60-minute massage a month, but are lucky if you receive a 45-minute massage. On one occasion, I did not receive the massage I requested. When I brought this up to a manager, I was told I would get a free foot scrub at my next session, which I also did not receive. On another occasion (at a different location), I scheduled a hot stone massage, which is charged as 2 sessions, and received an hour and 15 minute massage. On that visit, I entered the room late (as usual) and was then told that I needed to fill out a lengthy form releasing them of any liability, which took another 10 minutes. Additionally, when I attempted to cancel my membership due to financial reasons (which I had fulfilled and then some) via phone, I was met with a rude attitude and told that I would need to go in to fill out a form. When I did so, I was then made aware that I would be responsible for an additional payment, which I stated in writing that I did not authorize. Of course, they charged me anyway. Upon searching reviews of this company, they seem to have a history of continuing charges to accounts that have been cancelled and poor customer service practices. They truly do not care about the customer, with negative reviews all over the place to prove it. Massage Envy would be wise to remember that when a member cancels, they may return some day IF THEY ARE TREATED PROPERLY.
