I have been a member here for many years. I keep going back in bed cause it is close to my home and if I can get the 2 therapists I really like my visits are great. It has been increasingly difficult to find massage time slots though and so I often get can't in when I want to. Scheduling in advance helps, but sometimes you want a massage not weeks booked out. I had one facial that was super great and relaxing. I had another facial where the therapist spent too much time trying to upsell me which was frustrating. read more

I was a regular customer at Massage Envy for 9 years until late this summer. I saw multiple massage therapists during that time. During my last two visits to a regular - and valued - massage therapist, he exposed himself during the session touching my arm with his genitals. The first time it happened, I thought I must be mistaken but the second time it was clear. It was very difficult to report this but I did. ME utilized a third party who "investigates" the incident. This third party took my report. When I didn't hear from ME, I wrote the clinic manager back and she informed me that, "We did get the results from the investigation. The investigators determined that a Zero Tolerance Offense did not occur." 1. They're calling me a liar. They're not telling me that they could not reach a conclusion that warranted termination. They told me it did not occur. I appreciate the difficult and complex nature of claims like this but calling a customer a liar is definitely not on the list of acceptable responses. 2. They did not feel obliged to notify me that the investigation was complete and they were not taking action against the therapist. 3. When I responded that I wanted to terminate my membership immediately, the office manager told me that it would take ten days to process and my next membership dues would be withdrawn. I pushed for that 10 day processing time to be waived and she agreed. You are not safe at Massage Envy Edina. read more

Scheduled my husband and appointment a month in advance but before doing so, I ask the therapist do she do men because of her religious beliefs. She said yes I just have to wear gloves. The day before the appointment at 9pm he received a call saying she can't do him because he's a male. I was so pissed, told them I wanted to cancel my membership they said a manger would call me within 48 hours. I called and was told the would cancel and charge me for 1 month since it wasn't within the 10 day cancellation period. I called 2 other times to make sure and talk to a manager and no one called me back, then they charged my credit card for 6 months! $490! And acted rude and like there was nothing they could do. She was awesome and STRONG , which I like in a deep tissue massage. The establishment was clean, efficient and full of happy people on both sides of the experience. Try it. I'm really sad that I wont be seeing her again because I can't justify going back to this location after being treated so rudely by the reception staff. I have a membership at Massage Envy and at my last appointment I scheduled a massage for my bf as a Valentine's Day gift. I called to confirm the day before the appointment to make sure everything was good to go. They told me that I could not gift massages with my membership (which is not true) and became very frustrated when I explained that I already had an appointment and had already gotten confirmation that this could be done. They insisted that I had to show up to the appointment as myself or they would cancel it. They hung up on me. I called again and I think the same person answered me and pretended to not know what had happened. I went to go book my next appointment 6 weeks later and was told they expired and nothing they could/would do for me. I know how of many good therapists that's left the company but to make matters worse if I cancel my account I have 30 days to use all my credits, which are a lot. Do not sign up for their wellness program. I'm stuck in the program with a bunch of massages accrued that I'm not able to use because all of the locations are booked for MONTHS. I accumulated a bunch of these massages during the pandemic because I was paying the monthly fee to accumulate the massages, but wasn't able to use them because we're in a pandemic. I'm trying to be flexible with them due to COVID, but they are not being flexible at all with me and their program. I'm not able to book enough appointments (even going through March with someone on the phone). I can't transfer them to anyone else. I can't quit the program without losing all the accrued massages that I PAID for. It's extremely frustrating. They should be MUCH more flexible during this time. Also, you can only book online up to one month out and for three locations at once (which always shows nothing is available), so I have to call each location and check each date with someone on the phone, which is very time consuming. read more

When they finally answer they're so rude and in such a rush to get you off you the phone. I tried to reschedule an appointment by 30 minutes because of an emergency and they charged me my monthly appointment. I've been trying to fix my account for months so I could avoid long wait times and rude employees and was told to email corporate. I did several times and have never heard anything back. I'm sure here below my review they're going to give the same comment they put on every other negative review saying they're so sorry and I should contact them through the portal. I agree with the many reviews here that this location's front desk is an absolute sh*tshow. This is the worst customer service I've encountered in ages, and I'm including roadside diners in this assessment. My massage itself was great, but the reception staff totally dropped the ball on my 12 pm appointment and I ended up getting into my apopintment half an hour later...after it turns out my massage therapist had been standing in the same reception area trying to find me the entire time. The apparent complication behind all this was that my husband had booked the massage for me as a gift, and the front desk couldn't wrap their minds around the fact that I don't share the same first name as him. They even called him to tell him he was late for his appointment (*facepalm*). And all while, the front desk staff was behaving incredibly unprofessionally, gossiping about their personal lives and whining about when they were getting their lunch breaks -- not exactly a relaxing environment if you're looking to unwind. To top it all off, after my massage was over, I had to explain again at check-out (ripping my hair out at this point) that my husband had booked the appointment for me, that his credit card was on file with them, and that was the card that should be charged. They also tried to upcharge me for aromatherapy during my massage that I never received. I was at the front desk for another 15-20 minutes to try to talk to a manager to try to sort this out yet again. TLDR -- avoid this place like the plague. I scheduled a deep massage. The tiny female massage therapist said she'd "try." The massage was so bad, the pressure was so light that it felt like a back rub. I asked her to go deeper and she said she "can not do that." This experience left me with more tension and stress than going in. At checkout I politely explained my experience, the attendee looked at me dumb-founded and responded with "would you like to leave a gratuity?" I was appalled. She was not kind at check-in, either. I did the 6 month membership and I cancelled it back in July. And I was charged the next month and I called again to get it cancelled for the 2nd time. The person on the phone said it was cancelled again. Did the same thing for the 3rd time. I've been getting charged since July. I came into the office wanting to cancel it once again. Manager was not in. Receptionist said she will be calling 01/10/24 and I have not been contacted. I called again 11/11/24 to speak to the manager and she was unable again. I feel like the manager is avoiding me as a client. I just want my money refunded and membership canceled. Mind you I've been charged since July of 2023 and I haven't been in since to get a massage because I called to cancel my membership in July of 2023. You can usually tell how bad a place is by the employee turnover, and let me tell you, it's high. I went to this location for 2 years before switching, and the problem is management. The bad manager doesn't just affect the employees; it affects the customer experience. Try freezing your account or changing your "home" location to another store. Try, and please tell me how you were able to do it because I've been told the manager doesn't have a schedule. It's just up to the manager, at her or his convenience, to call you. And then a different store finally tells me that corporate won't let them change "home" location for a client. Thank you Southtown location for not giving me the run-around. I want to stress that Massage Envy corporate is not a good franchise, so I do understand that franchise owners are strangled underneath the company. It's not a good situation, but as a customer, my only real option was to exit the franchise and find a small, local business to work with. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I received a gift card for a one hour massage eons ago, and finally got around to using it. Dani gave me an AMAZING massage - totally kicked my butt, which is exactly what I needed. She managed to work out a huge amount of my kinks and muscle knots in the hour we had together. I often have the issue of massage therapists being worried they're applying to much pressure, so I get a super lackluster massage. But Dani delivered. Massage Envy on the whole, however, was meh. The sales pitch after your first massage is MAJOR. The entire membership thing really just reads like a money making scheme, and horror stories across the internet reflect that perfectly. Anyway, the very sweet young man was doing his best to sell me on a membership. All the while, two other employees just stood behind the counter watching us. Not helpful. I also had to school the employee a little bit - because when I say I'm going to discuss with my husband, it doesn't mean I need his permission. Lordy. I've had massages by a few people here but Gaby has been the best. Most of my pain is in my back and she fixes it every time. She is so friendly and nice and there is no reason not to feel comfortable around her. She is more than capable of providing a firm - extra firm massage which is what I need. Front staff could be friendlier. After my first ever massage the young man at front was very insistent on a membership which I politely declined several times, not everyone can afford such a luxury and I only caved because I had a gift card. But being forced to sign up had the opposite effect of the nice massage I just had. Another time I had booked 1 appointment for the following month but got a text notification for a second one that I did not book. Ok no biggie. So I called right away and the woman on the other end was less than friendly. This kind of customer service is what turns customers away. If you just want a nice massage, I'd recommend. If you're looking for the works, go elsewhere. After all, this is a franchise location so don't expect a stellar experience. In all, I would still recommend them but only for Gaby. I received a $50 gift card for Massage Envy for my birthday. I tried to make an appointment online, but the online scheduler was down, so I had to call in. I made my appointment for the next day by phone. I was a bit sad to find out that even for a first time appointment, my gift card wasn't enough for an introductory massage. I also learned that the prices were always higher than most massage places I have been to before, but it was still definitely worth trying. (note, introductory 60 min massage is $70, and after that $120 for any next time service.) I did hear on the phone then, that this place has a membership system - the kind where there is a hard-sell whenever you attend trying to get you to buy a membership and sign up for more massages to make it worth your while. This made me anxious and less excited about the idea of going in at all. But for a mostly pre-paid massage, I guess I would make do and just be firm about not buying anything more. Then my child's school had a confirmed COVID case and I had to cancel my appointment first thing when the place opened. I was informed on the phone that I would be charged for the cancellation. This policy was not communicated to me when I made the appointment the very day before. This confirms the kind of business this is. The massages may be fine. I wouldn't know, even after this entire experience, because I'm afraid they will have stolen money off of my gift card, and I don't want to pay more for a "gifted" massage than I pay for a nice massage from a company I trust. My recommendation: look for a better massage place. Definitely do not gift anyone with something from Massage Envy, because they may never get to use it. read more

I would not recommend Massage Envy Edina, as a former employee at this location. Please be compassionate with the front desk employees. Sales is not an easy job and we do not mean to pressure you, it seems that way because we are taught to do that. You will be fired if your membership sales are low. Please have that understanding. There are some wonderful service providers at this location, and some that could improve. The real issue falls with the management. The management does not care about the clients, or the employees. It is sad to me to read through the complaints written and recognize names that I've heard of before. I would recommend filing a corporate complaint if you have a negative experience that goes beyond an internet review, as most reviews are laughed at. Many of the positive reviews are just written by the clinic manager. I would recommend taking your services elsewhere, to a company that values the health and wellness of clients (and employees) over profit. If you decide to get a membership here, as massage is very beneficial and there are incredible therapists - take the time to read through the fine print!!! There are many things that may be overlooked when going over the agreement. I would recommend simply taking a brochure, and taking a look at home before signing up. read more

How do people run a business like this? "My name is Steven Knott and I am the Clinic Administrator for the Massage Envy in Edina. I received your survey about your facial appointment with us. I am sorry that you felt there was a lot of steam used. There are certain points in the treatment where the esthetician will use the steamer but it is not used throughout the whole treatment. You mentioned there weren't any extraction done. Each esthetician examines the clients face after cleansing and toning. During the analysis they will determine if extractions need to be done. The esthetician may not have noticed any congestion while doing the analysis." read more

After few minutes, I realized there is a Southtown branch (which is nearer from my place) and I decided to book another appointment at the same date and time, thinking I could just cancel it online or talk to the Edina customer service team to cancel my appointment without cancellation fee.  9:46AM of Dec 15 -- I called Edina branch. The guy wasn't able to get his name) insist to charge me half the price of my appointment eventhough 3hrs and few minutes had just past from the time I scheduled and the time I called. He doesn't sound sympathetic and only concerned about getting the half payment. I understand that there is an appointment cancellation fee policy but since the site doesn't allow customers to cancel appointments, there is no way for me to redo cancel 1 appointment without waiting for the branch to open-up and ask the customer service to cancel the appointment for me (first thing in the morning). Please note that I recently moved in Minnesota so I'm not familiar with places. Also, trying to book an appointment online and looking for the nearest branch with available for today is a pain in the ass You should be considerate not just for your therapist but your customers as well. There's no courtesy call happened and I did not blocked the therapist schedule for days. There is also no way for me to cancel my appointment before 24 hours because I just booked the massage same day @3pm appointment time -- I arrived 10 mins before my schedule. Heather assisted me and was nice. I sat down for 20mins (at first I was annoyed but upon checkout I was telling myself not to be pissed anymore since she's apologetic and didn't charge my hand exfoliate to compensate) 3:10 (entered the spa room) to 4:05 (end of massage) -- had quick discussion with my therapist, undressed and then massage started. During the discussion, I told my therapist that my shoulders and lower back are in pain, and they are my priority. But I also wanted to do whole body massage. My therapist just said ok and she'll try to be quick. Note to all new customers: usually, when the therapist don't think what you want is not possible due time constraints, they tell you upfront and ask your preference. I couldh've compromised to just focus on my upper body. I even repeated myself and asked her if we still have time to do my back and shoulders. She stopped me, said yes and advised to stay relaxed. Summary of my massage: At the end of the session, I didn't feel relaxed at all and still in pain. I feel like she used the RTR tool most of the time and her hands seems just rubbing on my body or rushed lol. So before making reservations at this place, be sure: 1. Give detailed directions to your therapist which is odd. I've been exploring different therapists and they are not like this. For me if you know what you're doing, the customers don't have to give detailed instructions/directions 2. You won't schedule at the same day. But if you do, make sure you don't cancel it. Because they are leaving you no choice but to take the massage. Otherwise, pay for nothing 3. Be patient because you'll never know who will assist you read more

I booked a couples massage for my wife and I a day in advance. We were asked if we had a preference of Therapist, male or female. We asked for two females that were non-smokers (last time they smelled). Upon arriving, a male therapist came to meet my wife. I informed them we had been asked, and requested, two females. I was told "We don't ask for a preference of Therapist, here. We don't gender discriminate." I was shocked she would insinuate we were being discriminatory because my wife doesn't want another man's hand all of her body. They informed us they could't assist us today, and essentially turned us away. No options for later in the day or anything else. Just said, "sorry, we can't help you." When I got home, I decided to call in and leave a voicemail for the manager I previously spoke with, Kim, about our last few (bad) experiences. Without ever stating my name or purpose for calling, the girl on the phone (Maya) said, "I already have her calling you tomorrow," and hung up on me. I never even said my name. Even if you have Caller ID, the professional, polite thing to do is to address me, or ask for my name. We looked forward to this all weekend, and now we both are going back to work tomorrow after clearing today's calendar for the massages that never happened. read more

I called to book an appointment for my mother and I, since I was back home visiting and my mom had worked the entire time I was there. We took a day for ourselves to book a massage and have the day together. We were booked for Friday, then the lady who obviously was a new employee said never mind that won't work. So my mother and I rescheduled for Monday! Monday comes along, I get a voicemail saying one of our therapists cancelled but they will give us a free facial. Sorry, I've worked for massage Envy for 4 years and I was not interested in another facial. My mother insists I take her appointment and she will walk around while I'm in session. So our mother daughter day was not going as planned because of ME. Whatever... So now I show up early to my appointment like they ask... if you are familiar with ME, it's 5 min undress 50 min hands on and 5 minute redress. My appointment is for 1:30, it's now 1:40 while I'm texting my mom saying I am still waiting. I show my face in the lobby, so they know I'm waiting...... I see my therapist "hurry in" not sure if she was out on lunch or what. I'm thinking the entire time... I better get my full 50 minutes. My therapist Kianna walks in with the IPads, clearly showing how long your session has left. Which put me at ease, since there are no clocks in the room. What do you know, once the session is done... the therapist makes sure to grab that IPad so I can't see how much time was remaining. My session was over by 2:25, I was in the lobby by 2:29. The therapist was late and decided to cut my massage short because of her mistake. Now I'm waiting to check out, and the girl who checked me in is on the phone. Like I said previously, I worked for Massage Envy, I know how EVERYTHING goes. I am this girls "prospect" and no one can "check me out" but her. Which is just for sales. Technically ANYONE can check me out. The front desk, including the male manager says this girl will be right with me. I bring up to the manager about how I had scheduling issues and now my massage was cut short because my therapist was late... The manager was so fake and had no sympathy, and offered me a free half hour. Now as I'm still waiting, I tell him I have to go, so I'd like to check out. He knows I am not going to wait for the girl to get off the phone so this manager STARTS SELLING TO ME. I was in complete shock. I know the entire sales pitch, and this manager knows I'm a former employee. I've had 3 customer service issues and now since I don't want my mom waiting on me any longer and your employee can't check me out... you start to try to sell a former employee the membership? What poor judgement, and lack of customer service this ME location has. I was a Key Holder at my last location, this guy is supposed to be the Clinic Manager. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I bought a gift certificate for my husband. It said $100 should cover 90 minutes with tip. Well, that was only the intro rate and you have to click to another page to read the fine print on real rates. (I went back to check after since I was surprised by the actual cost.) Since he had been there many years before, it didn't qualify as intro pricing. The website pricing is clearly and intentionally misleading if you are looking quickly, and it wasn't easy to find. Just publish a grid with intro rates and actual rates and problem solved, - and customers won't feel misled. The actual cost was $140 not including tip and he got a major sales pitch which is uncomfortable for customers. I've had it from them too. Not bad masseuses but business practices need improvement. I had a rough travel day yesterday and my husband surprised me with a massage this morning. I was lucky to have Theo as my therapist and I can only say wonderful things about him. I have been a therapist for 15 years and I can tell he is very knowledgeable and cares about what he does. Great technique and deep pressure. I actually had a couples session with my 11yr old and the couples room was very comfortable and the therapist customized the sessions to exactly what we were looking for. My son's therapist was Kiara and he loved her massage. I would highly recommend this location! read more

I'm not one to do reviews but this experience was rough. I walked down the stairs do 5-6 women behind the desk talking and laughing, no problem. The lobby filled up and as I am sitting there waiting for a massage these women are all complaining about how many minutes they have left in their shift. Not kidding, "I only have 4 minutes left, I hope no one calls!" And complaining about how when the phone would ring they would moan before picking it up and complain about how they only have three minutes left and didn't want anyone to call. Then, would hang up the phone and gossip, laugh, and complain about the person on the other line and what they were asking about. Meanwhile there is four of us less than ten feet away all waiting for our massages and listening. They were not shy about it either, extremely loud and I was mortified sitting there listening to it. I have had great experience with the massages I have received at this site, front desk staff helpful and efficient, exactly what I was looking for. The one thing that is really frustrating is the complete inability to book online. I book my workout classes online. I book my doctor appointments online. Why can't this place get their corporate app to work? I know this isnt the local franchise--it's something corporate. I've sent emails, and multiple attempts to help. I cant see why people only gave this place less than 3 stars. I have been going here for about 3 months and have been a massage envy member for 4 years. I hate to tell you my favorites, but Duncan, and Denise are the best for deep tissue, Denise will make you cry. Duncan has amazing hands and does myofacial release. Katie is amazing with reflexology and less deep tissue but love her. There are so many more to choose from. I think the people that answer the phones are more than helpful in getting you connected with the right therapist. They also do facials here, I havent tried yet but will post on that when I do. read more

The management is absolutely terrible. If I could give zero starts, i would. I had 7 credits saved up, which means i paid my membership fee 7 months in a row with out using my massage that the membership fee covers per month. When I was a no call no show due to the stomach flu, I didn't receive any calls asking if I even knew I had missed my appointment, which in my experience has been a custom of all other massage envy spas to check in. Instead of using my credits to pay for the appointment, I found a $90.89 charge on my bank statement. All I could think was 'oh, really...' as i started my race. I immediately contacted the Edina spa to ask about the charges and question why my already paid for credits hadn't been used to cover the appointment. I received a very confusing and hasty answer that didn't make any sense. The receptionist seemed annoyed and told me I had to contact the spa where I originally signed my contract. So I called the Plymouth location, only to be told they couldn't do anything about it. Luckily, the Plymouth location has proper management. They called back to Edina for me to reverse the charges on my card and have credits used in place, agreeing that there is no excuse for charging for an already paid for appointment, whether i show up or not, it's paid for already.
