Jayda was great for a 50-minute deep tissue (with deep pressure). I had some neck and shoulder pain prior (lots of studying and sitting lately), and while I initially I didn't feel 100% better immediately after, my range of my improved and I felt significantly better than baseline the next day. Since I hadn't experienced a massage since pre-COVID quarantine, I probably needed more than a 1-hour Massage Envy massage, but Jayda did the best she could and did concentrate on the areas where I had pain, which I very much appreciated. I was looking to get a facial so I booked an appointment online at MassageEnvy Fair Lawn. I decided to go with the Dermal Infusion since it is one I've received numerous times at Hand & Stone. The facial is $220 and is advertised on their website as a 60 minute service. From the moment my Esthetician "greeted" me I had a feeling this wouldn't be a pleasant experience. My Esthetician did not ask any skincare questions or concerns, she was monotone and looked bothered to even be at work, I had to ASK her to do extractions after she only attempted to do 2. Her technique with the suction pen was rushed, fast, painful and seemed very inexperienced. She then sat back while I had a mask on my face when I know usually a neck and/or shoulder massage is accompanied by that. I was done in 27 minutes!! Upon checking out I asked the front desk girl how long a dermal infusion was and her response "sometimes the facials are 30 minutes and sometimes they are an hour" .. I voiced my concern that their website advertised the dermal infusion as an hour and that is precisely why I booked it. I wasn't even done in 30 minutes actually. The front desk girl apologized and then asked if I wanted to leave the tip on my card LOL. Not to mention, after I got dressed I wandered the halls to an exit because my Esthetician was no where to be found. $220 and I couldn't even get a cup of water after the service. This is suppose to be a professional and well known establishment. Has customer service really gone down hill? I got in my car (and found the Velcro headband that was used on me was stuck to the back of my head) The whole experience sat very very wrong with me. I decided to go back in and express my concern. The girl at the front said she's sorry and that people have complained before of this and there is nothing they can do. I even showed her proof of what their website said. I voiced that I was extremely upset and find it ridiculous that this would be advertised so poorly and charging people over $200 for it. I was then apologized to again and told "a manager will call you" I doubt I'll receive that call and if I do, I'm sure nothing will be done. Today's my second time visiting this location. Prior to Fair Lawn I'd only visited the Westwood ME. Initially upon entering, this location has a much more inviting feel. The front desk associates are both delightful and informative. My first visit here, I came for a couples massage with a girlfriend of mine. We both requested firm pressure, and we so pleased with both of our masseuses. I saw Steph, and rebooked with her again today. Succeeding my purchase of their yearly massage plan 1/mo, for a fee of about $75, I received a booklet of add-ons to be redeemed with ea. 60 min session. The young man who booked my reservation, Ed, also checked me in today, and was very accommodating in respects to honoring my 30 min add-on, although I left the coupon at home. This is a prime example of excellent customer service! I honestly look forward to my next visit. Oh, and ask about their AromaTherapy for an up-charge of $10. Today I used Detox, although I would've liked to have tried Soothe, but my masseuse said the scent makes her sick :( Lastly, make sure to bring them a cash gratuity!!! Massage Envy (ME) Fair Lawn, NJ Service: I called Saturday morning to schedule my first time appointment at ME (I have not had a full body massage in 10 years). Tanya was super helpful, friendly, and pleasant; she was very knowledgeable about ME. When I arrived (approximately 20 minutes early) Tanya greeted me with a smile,checked me in, reviewed over what I would experience, showed me around, answered all of my questions; and then offered me water, coffee or tea. I opted for a nice cup of chai tea, to help me relax while I waited for my massage therapist. Massage/Therapist: My appointment was with Luis. He came to meet me in the waiting room, and then escorted me to the massage room. He was very friendly and respectful, and knowledgeable in his profession. He listened very well during our brief consultation. (Note: the time for the consultation, getting undressed and dressed are accounted for within the 60 minutes, so you have 55 minutes of actual massage time.The front desk does share this information when booking, and again when you check-in.) After my aromatherapy massage, Luis gave me some exercises to do on while at home and work, to help reduce tension. I was impressed with his expertise. Best massage EVER! Check-Out: Afterward my massage the front desk checked me out. I asked how I could tip Luis and Tanya gave me two options: cash or card. I opted to give cash. I was relieved that Tanya and her team (the other young ladies were just as pleased) weren't pushy with tipping. The night prior, while I was searching for a spa, I had read so many reviews from other places that hounded customers for tips. Although, you will see tipping charts in the waiting room and bathrooms. During check-out Tanya offered me a membership. Now, I had reviewed the membership before booking my appointment, and I was prepared to decline; but I honestly couldn't say no. The price was right, the service was superb, and my MT was THE BEST! The young woman I believe her name was Ebony in the front was very knowledgeable and pleasant, unfortunately, I was disappointed in the facility, the room I was in had a moldy smell like there was water damage and that was the second room, the first room the massage table was not working. The only reason I give it three stars is because of my interaction with staff! But who ever the owners are they should really invest in the facility more! read more

Received a massage by Jael. She was lovely & it was a very relaxing experience. I have multiple knots in my neck & shoulders which she worked out very well. I will definitely be asking for her in the future. She recommended the rapid tension relief along with application of bio freeze that I might try soon.This location has a wonderful relaxation room that I enjoyed after my massage with a cup of tea. Good place to sign up for before the company raises the monthly rates (sept 1, 2016?) The ambiance is pleasant- always quiet, relaxing, and inviting. Most of the massage therapists are good at what they do, will listen to meet your needs, and suggest ways to alleviate repeated pain as well how to work with the usual after-massage symptoms of dehydration, soreness, etc. (e.g. don't drink alcohol after a massage!) Arielfi and Paris are my favorite because they specialize in deep-tissue techniques. If ive ever had a bad experience with a therapist here, it was because i- the customer- did not speak up, voice my needs, concerns, hurts, or comfort level well enough. If you dont like something, say something. [And...If you love something, say something too! Too many biased reviews, close-minded reviews out there!] The staff is always friendly in person (i.e. at the spa itself)- I always get a warm hello and goodbye!!- but some (the younger ones) sound less than professional on the phone. Its not that they're rude, per say, just not well enough informed to answer all your questions, scheduling issues, needs, etc. With maturity comes a respect for and awareness of the fact that these customers are spending their hard-earned money on a luxury they could easily get elsewhere. You cant embed a sense of urgency or dedicated work ethic into a high schooler who may only be there for their hourly pay. Most, however, are right on track and can help with anything; if not, they'll tell you that the manager will promptly call you back. And they DO...call you back. Speaking of which....the manager, Erin, gets an A in my book- sharp, focused, understanding and friendly, customer-service (versus money) driven, and disciplined with her team. Massage envy in fair lawn is absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I came here for a couples massage for our anniversary. He has never has never gotten a massage before. Therefore, he was very skeptical about it. From start to finish our experience was great. The women at the front desk were very sweet and helpful. Then we met our amazing massage therapists, he had Margarita and I had Amy. They were both great. They made sure we were both comfortable and confirmed our massage needs before beginning. At the end of the massage they gave us little tips on how to go about the day after our massage like drinking water and avoiding caffeine. We will definitely be returning. :) read more

Had heard many good things about massage envy and have friends that are happy clients and the location is very convenient to my home so I thought I would give it a try. I was very excited about my hot stone massage and regularly have gotten hot stone massages at other spas so am familiar with this type of massage. Overall the location was very clean and inviting and the front desk staff was nice an accommodating and helpful. I arrived 10 min before my appointment and was checked in and ready for my appointment. The massage overall was disappointing as nice as the atmosphere was in the other areas the massage room was not as relaxing. The room I was in was very cold and the massage therapist was aware of this and turned off the AC but it repeatedly turned on throughout the massage and the vent was directly over my head and was blowing in my face and I was shivering. She tried to turn it off but it kept overriding and coming back on. The lighting was also not relaxing even though the lighting was dim the flourescent lights were still on which when on your back was brighter then it should have been and not relaxing most spas use indirect lighting on the walls to prevent this. Okay this might sound like picky things but if you are paying a significant amount of money for an experience the environment is key. The massage therapist was not strong at hot stone massage typically a hot stone massage is done with slow even pressure to allow the heat to relax the muscles. The technique used was very rushed and rapid and I felt like I was getting my body buffed with stones rather then massaged. She did stay within my pressure requests and my areas that needed to be targeted but the technique was just not there, she seemed like she would be very good at deep tissue or Swedish style massage but not hot stone. Confirming my suspicions that the massage was rushed when I got done I looked at the clock and the massage ended 10 min early from my alloated 90 min even though I arrived early. The front desk person recognized this and did offer a discount but have no desire to book another appointment there. The next morning I woke up with a sore throat, head cold and fever from being in such a cold room the night before. read more

I enjoyed my facial with Gabby very much, however the front desk staff was rude which made my experience very unpleasant to say the least. The manager was nasty and spoke to me as if I was A child. In seeking the perfect massage, I was really hesitant to try this "chain" spa...I thought it was going to be too bare bones and have a cold, non-spa like atmosphere. Well, I must say that I was wrong (first time ever) because I was really impressed with Massage Envy overall. The spa itself is in a brand new location so it was impeccable on the inside. Relaxation room and restrooms were very clean and nicely decorated as well. I made an appointment for an introductory massage, 90 minutes for $90 (plus tax/tip). The quality of the massage was fabulous...my therapist was awesome and she really did a great job at easing my tension. Hubby came along as well and reported that he was impressed with his massage as well. Check out was easy; they explained the monthly fee/membership program to us without being too pushy, which was nice. I am contemplating joining the monthly program; I just hope that the spas in the other locations are just as good as the Fair Lawn location.
