Went to massage envy for the first time last Friday and was very much impressed. The front desk staff were friendly and atrentive. My appointment started right on time. My massage therapist was Kimberly and she was absolutely wonderful. She went over what I had booked for my appointment and asked me plenty of questions so she could recommend the proper service for me. The massage itself was absolutely fantastic, I'm pretty sure Kimberly has magic hands. This was my first true deep tissue type massage. It wasn't painful at all and I left feeling much better. I felt loose and I was in significantly less pain than I had been in when I walked in. Also the online booking is great. I woke up at 6am to get my kid off to school and booked an 8:30am appointment right on the website. The app is also super convenient but I didn't have that until after I booked my appointment. I also signed up for the membership for the cheaper services as I plan to return, at the very least, once a month. read more

I have tried many Massage Places. The staff is friendly and therapists are attentive. The biggest problem I had after a ful term membership was I kept telling them I needed a deep tissue massage and they all told me...Oh I don;t do that. I tried 4 different therapists. Not the worst I had nor the best. They really are not a full service service place. Also, kind of leaves you uncomfortable, since there are no shower facility or sauna. Just a bunch of rooms with tables. At the end of my membership, they took my payment and said they owed me nothing. I still had one coming to me, but decided it was not worth it. They are ok if you don;t need a true massage. Anyone can do soft touch. read more

My massage therapist was Karen C. She was very nice and gave me a great 90 minute massage. The pressure was exactly what I said I wanted. Left feeling super relaxed. One of the best massages I've ever had! I highly recommend you see her. I know I will be booking future massages with her. By far one of the Best Massage Envy's around. Professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I have had a membership for over 5 years and have visited locations across the country and this location is in my top 10. I now travel 40 minutes just to go to this location. The other Massage Envy's in my DC area could learn from this location. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a great reasonably priced massage. I have a monthly facial membership plan and have had very positive experienes at this location. Kimberly is always professional and knowledgable and my skin has improved significantly since using the Murad products. A huge drawback involves the fees including the $10.00 processing fee when I gift a facial to a family member- I find this unnecessary. Tip recommendation of 17-25 dollars per service is also quite high considering the service cost is 59.00 and product cost is 10.00/ facial. In short service is good and environment is comfortable and clean but initial $59.00 monthly facial fee is deceiving with all the add on fees and product fees are not cheap. read more

I found the massage to be adequate not special. The pressure they put on me to buy a membership was not great. And the fact that they told me I could use my FSA for the massages, without mentioned I would need prior approval and a doctors orders letter, ticked me off a little. read more

Beware: ME entire business practice revolves around obtaining $ from the customer with no services rendered. Memberships are structured in such a way if you get busy, get transfered away for a short time (like I did) or become ill there's no viable way to catch up. They will not contact you or work with you if you call them, but instead wait until you are so far behind there's nothing to do but cut your losses then send threatening letters. Think very carefully if this is the kind of business you want to engage with before signing on the dotted line. I learned from my mistake. I hope others can benefit from my $600 loss. read more

However, the staff and therapists at Frederick are professional, friendly, and highly experienced. I have had both facials and massages with positive results. Devon is great! My regular person injured her hand and now trying to find a new place for a massage on regular basis. Heard enough that okay will give them a try. Went to the one in Frederick. Was not happy about the questionaire they wanted you to fill out. I was there for a massage not doctors office visit. Got in little room and got under sheet/blanket and the girl rubbed places I did not need. She put so much lotion on me that my husband helped me rub as much as we could off before me went out to dinner with friends and I did not have a chance to shower before and really felt disgusting due to the amount of lotion still on me. If I go back she will not come near me. I hope I just got the bad apple and the rest are good ones. read more

I have been going to Massage Envy since January. It is the best....I look forward to my massage every month. What a way to treat yourself. The Spa is clean and employees very courteous. My masseuse is Devon and she is exceptional. She also is an estotician, so I get dual service: massage/facial. I am in expert hands with her. The Frederick location is nice and clean, the front desk staff are also quite nice (they had one "sour puss" but I haven't seen that guy in a couple of visits). The waiting room is a little small for the number of therapists they have working and can sometimes be standing room only....that is NOT very relaxing. Fortunately I've not had to wait long and it does clear out pretty quick. The worst part of the waiting room is the other clients on their cell phones....but, probably can't fix that. I have come often enough to find a therapist that I like and that can work with my "requirements" and time constraints and since then I've never have a bad experience. When I first started going to this location the first two therapists did not click for me and i left relaxed but not fully satisfied with the experience. Face it folks, massage is a personal service and what works for one person will not work for another. Therapist and client must communicate and the massage styles must be appripriate so you can expect some adjustment time. All that being said: I have been an ME customer for about 8 years. I have been to ME Spa's all over the US (from San Diego and San Antonio to Florida, North Carolina, Kentucky, Washington and more than one Maryland location). They are not all created equal. However, you can control how your massage goes by being up front when making your appointment as to what your needs and expectations are so that the staff can match you with the right therapist (this is true everywhere). Some therapists DO have a lot of trouble getting a whole body massage done in an hour, some are good at it.....again be very upfront with them before you start.....they will ALWAYS ask you what areas you want worked and what priortiy you want them worked in. So if you want the whole body you can't realistically ask them to completely work out your shoulder knots and still fit in ALL of the rest of you. This stuff i learned trial and error. The best approach I've found is to alternate my deep tissue, serious trigger point therapy with full relaxation therapy. Additionally, I've not had any trouble using pre-paid massages that have "piled" up because I was away or out of town for extended times. read more

Not happy at all with experience.My therapist hopped up on the table with the clipboard while asking my preferences (!) the room was freezing and I did not receive the deep tissue massage I requested. Toward the middle of the massage, my therapist was called out of the room. She returned and advised me that her manager only just read my chart- and she was prohibited to finalize my massage because I wrote that I was borderline diabetic. I was furious and she lamely "caressed my back for the remaining 30 minutes. Not only did I have a 15-20 minute wait period before my massage when the "manager" could have read my chart and asked appropriate health questions, but this experience of ruining my massage and wasting my money could have been avoided if the "manager" was better informed about diabetes. The A/C was WAY too cold for naked persons receiving massages or any other treatments and the perky little therapist who jumped up on my table to interview me needs better customer service training. read more
