Manager Threatened to Call Police on Me -- In Front of My Kids -- Over Their Own Booking Error [[HIGHLIGHT]]On August 12, I tried booking online. The system seemed to glitch out mid booking and never asked for my contact or payment info, and I never got a confirmation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The next morning, I called to check. [[HIGHLIGHT]]An employee first said there was no appointment, then suddenly found one under the wrong phone number for someone else.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I gave them my correct information but said that since I could not complete my booking (I was trying to book for two people) and they did not have the availability I needed, I had made other plans. The manager insisted I'd be charged a cancellation fee -- for an appointment I never confirmed or paid for -- and talked over me every time I tried to explain. She even attempted to run a card that wasn't mine, which I pointed out could be considered fraudulent billing. She hung up on me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I stopped by in person, she admitted hanging up on me, denied I had spoken to her employee, undermined her staff, and TWICE threatened to call the police -- in front of my children -- over a disagreement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did not threaten her, I simply disputed her policy and pointed out her inconsistencies. I've owned businesses and understand conflict happens, but this was pure hostility, not professionalism. I would never trust this location with my time, money, or information. During my visit on 1/27/26, I scheduled a massage with Janet S. and didn't have the best experience. She half-heartedly did the massage and then she fell asleep a few times during the massage. It was awkward and I almost got up and told her that if she was that tired, we should just quit the massage. I'm expected to stay asleep at my job so I would expect a professional masseuse to stay awake during their job. This isn't the first time I experienced a massage envy masseuse who fell asleep. This one was at the North Aurora location, but I also had 2 visits at the Geneva location with Kevin S. and he fell asleep during both of those visits. He was worse than Janet was regarding falling asleep. It's embarrassing and awkward for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their aestheticians are also very pushy. Ruth at the Geneva location actually acts angry if you don't buy products from her.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would cancel my subscription all together, but if you cancel it, you lose all of the sessions you've accumulated and haven't used yet. It's honestly ridiculous. I will not get another massage at either location and I will try to use other services so I can use up the sessions I've racked up from the subscription so I can cancel as quickly as possible. They don't have quality employees working there. Oh...their turn over by the aestheticians isn't good. I had 2 I really liked in Geneva who are no longer there. Just wanted to give a review for massage envy in North Aurora, Illinois. I schedule an appointment while I was in Georgia as my son-in-law had given me a massage as a gift. I had a really nice massage and Kathleen was very kind. I hoped to have some main trigger points worked on to help other areas I had complained and brought up. Today I feel better, but feel like those missed areas were key to my everyday pain. Her pressure was amazing & for my neck & shoulders she did great. I have to schedule months in advance and if I change anything I'm unable to get a therapist at my time for a few more months. Yet they continue to charge my account every month and recommend that I drive to a location 45 minutes away instead to get services at the time I want. I booked a 90 minute medium pressure massage. I have been a client since 2013. The therapist took a long time to get into the room to start my massage. I told her my issues she got started. The massage started off very "weak", it was like she didn't know what to do. Spent slot of time on my neck and shoulders ( as I requested). The massage was so "non-focused", not really giving me any particular relief. During my massage she mumbled something about an extra treatment. I didn't request any extra treatment, so I wasn't sure what she meant. When I went to pay they said there was an service added on, which I never requested. I think I am going to cancel my membership. I can never get an appointment when I want one, then get a sub-par massage and an add on which I didn't request. read more

Twice I've made appointments and shown up only to be told I don't have an appointment. I was charged a no show fee for an appointment I didn't make and didn't know I had. When I called to inquire about canceling my membership due to the poor service, I was told I'd have a call back the same day, then after waiting TWO DAYS for a call back, I was told that I was stuck with it so I basically have to put up with the shitty service until I can get out of it. I don't mind paying for an agreement but what happens when ME doesn't keep up their end of the deal?Absolutely nothing. I was told I could not have my massage today because I have a chest cold and asthma. Eileen thinks she knows my body better than me or my doctors. I had a massage five days ago with my chiropractor's office to relieve asthma symptoms caused by my cold and Eileen told me that it was because of my adjustment, not my massage! She was not on the table with me when I started to breathe better during the last massage. I've also been given pseudo-medical advice on other occasions by massage therapists at Massage Envy and talked to like I don't know my own body or that they know better than my doctor. I am canceling my membership next week. I'm done with this place. The management needs to review professionalism with these therapists and remind them that they are NOT doctors. read more

First visit - I have a membership in another city. I saw this one as I was driving to Chicago and called for an appointment. Got in same day and had a nice massage with Laura. She has strong hands and and a great attitude. I tried the muscle lotion (felt like Bengay... do they even make Bengay anymore!!??) and I liked it at first but the tingly feeling lingers for a loooong time. If you have sore muscles it would be great but I think I would skip it if you just wanted to relax. I'm a member at this particular location and I've been a couple of times. Today I went in for my first ever prenatal massage and it was one of the best experiences I've had. I-88 was down to one lane and I called and spoke with Sadie at the front desk and she assured me that being a few minutes late was okay and she'd let my masseuse know. Although being a bit tardy cut into my massage time, Laura completely customized my massage so that I wouldn't feel rushed and I still was able to get worked on. She didn't want me to feel unrelaxed, so she focused on very specific areas that needed attention rather than skipping quickly through a total body. The best massage I've had prenatal or otherwise. Terrible business with which to work! Massages are great IF you can get in...IF the therapist stays for longer than 2 weeks, IF you don't mind showing up to find out that the therapist called in sick and can't take you today...and there's nobody else that can! I managed to get 2 decent massages here. Then could never figure out how to actually get another one booked! So I've paid my contracted fee for 12 months. Every once in a while I get a call from them with some odd, "We'd like to book a service for you today." NEVER got a call asking why I hadn't used a service in 12 months! Until yesterday, when they called because my payment didn't go through last month. Still no mention of the fact that I hadn't used a service this whole year. And when I called back to say I wanted to cancel, the manager was mysteriously not available (nobody you need to talk to ever is!) I asked to have her call me back the next day. So, today, I waited until 2:00 pm and finally called them AGAIN. Surprise, surprise, the manager had walked away from her desk. When she finally did get on the phone, she has decided that the contract goes for ANOTHER month. She openly admits that I have had 2 services (the second of which they insisted I had to pay separately for) and that I have 11 credits left. BUT, somehow, I still owe again. My 1 year isn't up. And she is big on quoting "THE CONTRACT". In fact, she came loaded with information about '"the contract". A topic she seems to know all too well. Which can only mean to me that she is strongly versed in the verbiage of the contract because of plenty of people like me! I know better than to join these types of "clubs". I've paid $660 to improve my health and all I've gotten is higher blood pressure. They aren't interested in my health or in customer service, just in collecting their monthly fee. Take my advice, STAY AWAY! A business that is worth its weight can provide a service without needing you to "join". They get return business because their service is good, NOT because of "THE CONTRACT". read more

I've been to this Massage Envy a few times and never been disappointed. Front desk is kind and friendly. I've seens a different massage therapist every time and each one of them have helped me with the issue I had going on at that time. Because of massage my back pain is almost gone and I'm able to sleep better. One of my favorite things is a sugar foot scrub, it's a nice treat to myself when I'm just going in to relax. Careful getting into their membership. I felt swindled to and hard to get out even after I completed my 12 months. Julia was wonderful for massages-did not have anyone else. After communicating, asking, getting frustrated about getting out of the membership where there is only one person seems like can cancel-they charged my CC two more times. Would not refund the money even though the service was not performed. They would not even honor the massages even though paid for. Really felt swindled and ripped off at the end. read more

She was going to "look into it" and get back with, which she never did. When I called to check on it I was told my sessions had expired and she tried to upsell a membership instead. I've been a member at this location for almost two years now. I absolutely LOVE this place. It's practically a home away from home. The receptionists greet me by name every time I walk in the door. I love to arrive a few minutes before my appointments to decompress from life's stress and I'm always offered water or tea, which is a delight. The massages themselves I could go on for days about how much they have helped me in my day to day life. I try to get 2 massages every month, and a facial if I can find the time. The 90 minute massages are worth the extra $20, but they are super addicting! I have become much more attentive to my health and wellbeing since starting getting massages here, the therapists are really knowledgeable and I like to try and see someone new every time just to switch it up, and I haven't been disappointed yet. I never noticed how much my body was stressed before I found this place and now I don't think I'll ever leave! read more

I had an appointment on Sunday and after a great session I wanted to reschedule an existing appointment I had with one therapist for another. The front receptionist stated that she can fit me in for multiple sessions on this coming Tuesday, fantastic! I guess they cannot read a calendar too well because she booked me out for a Tuesday in the next month! I leave work early and they are confused why I am there. Another girl tries to see where she can fit me in with my preferred therapist, no such luck. The second receptionist says sarcastically, "Well you can always go back to work!" The front desk ladies are always helpful and recommend new services for me to try and always offer me tea and neck warmers before I go back. Every massage therapist here gives a great massage ranging from relaxation to deep tissue. I recently heard they expanded their services so I tried out their chemical exfoliation and microderm and both have done my skin wonders! read more

Went in today for massage, and was told that they didn't have my gift certificate for $142 that I had left with them, and unless I kept the gift certificate number, I was out of luck. The girl I had worked with who recorded it onto my account went back to college, so I had no proof. I argued repeatedly with them and was adamant that I had the money in my account and showed the spreadsheet where I had documented it and had sent to the original girl for her agreement. After several hours of waiting for the verdict, they finally found it and said they didn't know why it was so hard to find. After that I recorded the gift certificate number so they can never misplace it again. However, after my massage I thought I would be relaxed and happy. After this ordeal, I was rattled, upset, stressed out, and crying. Here it is 6 hours after my massage, and I'm still so frazzled. I think I deserve a free massage to make up for the aggravation they put me through. read more

In 30 years have never been declined when asked what I want them to work on & I mention I have allergy or cold symptoms or it could be from crying past 4 days due to death in the family. Love this location! The girls up front they are so friendly and always greet me by my name. I have seen different massage therapist each time and i always have a great experience. I used to only get a hour session but once i tried the 90 minute session I loved it! I dont think i can ever go back to just getting a 1 hour.
