Horrible management, prices etc. They do not care about their customers. It's very hard to book an appointment, not that many therapists. Front office not that good, ssay they will have someone call you back but they never do. I cancelled my membership as I was not going as often as I thought. They told me that the remaining messages I had on the books would not go away. I did use 1-2 after camcelling. Called this week and they said once you cancel you looks all remaining PAID FOR messages. Said it's in the paperwork. It wasn't in mine at the time, and there is no doube in my mind that they said several times that they would not cancel any remaining message credits. I suffer from chronic pain and I saved up money to finally go get a massage after years of needing one. I specifically said that I needed relaxation but instead I got a painful sports massage. I'm in such pain right now. The 'spa' is so dirty and old. I felt like I needed a shower afterwards. It smelled like the DI or Goodwill and all the seats and equipment were like something you'd find in a mechanics shop. It was like going to a dirty friend's trailer to get a mediocre rub down. Do not go here whatever you... I really wished I would have check yelp first and saved my $100 that I really didn't have extra to waste. I figured it would be a safe bet since it's a large outfit with locations everywhere, plus I had gone to the message envy in Sandy once 7 years ago and was blown away! It was incredible and amazing. DO NOT GO HERE!! WORST MASSAGE EVER This was by far the WORST massage I have ever had. The massage therapist acted like her actually cared about my needs and what would help. He only worked in one area the entire time and also was not listening to the needs I wanted. In the beginning the receptionist stated that everything is customized to what the customer likes. I did not feel as I was being customized too. The therapist Hunter, was very rude and kept talking. Throughout the massage. And he was sitting during it as well. He would often be talking and massage with one hand, then slowly stop talking and stop massaging as if he were being distracted by his cell phone. His pressure was waaaay to hard, I asked him numerous times to go lighter and he would for about 4 minutes then he would go back to hard. I am now bruised on my left shoulder and left lower back due to the presser he was putting on. My husband and I can barley touch it without it hurting. I also had opted to do an extra packing that was $10 for a foot peel thing to help with my anxiety and insomnia (I had opted for it when I scheduled my appointment on line) and when Hunter was massage my one stop he said HIS back hurt and he would go get some water for me. I then asked if we were moving to another location to do the foot thing he then stood outside the door for literally a minute before coming back in to tell me he forgot and that he wasn't going to do it because his back hurt (for the second time he told me his back hurt) I will NEVER go to a massage envy location again and I will be contacting the store to speak with the general manager. Back in 2017, I signed up for a monthly massage subscription. The massage quality was good. The massages were easy to schedule and the staff treated me well at the facility. About 9 months later, I no longer needed the massages and decided to cancel my membership. The individual answering calls told me I needed to speak with a manager. I would need to wait for the manager to call me back. When she did, I learned I had committed to 12 months and wasn't allowed to cancel yet. I thought that was a little misleading, as I didn't recall agreeing to a 12-month lockup. They said I also couldn't give them advance notice of cancelling. I would need to call in and go through this again when my 12 months were up. When I called back in at the end of the summer, I again had to wait for the manager to call me back. She never did so I called in again. Finally we got on the phone and she tole me I couldn't cancel yet and that I had to wait for the next month. The following month, the manager told me I needed to sign the official cancellation document, which would take effect after 30 days. Unfortunately I had moved out of the state so I couldn't go into the location to do this. She sent me the document via email, which I had to print and sign. I sent a picture of it and never heard back. I called back and was told to go into a Massage Envy location and have them fax it in. I went into the location nearest me, explained everything again, and faxed it in. The Orem location said they would confirm receipt but I never heard from them. After calling in a few more times, I received confirmation of receipt and cancellation. I see two main here 1. Massage Envy has a burdensome processes to deter customers from cancelling. It is a waste of customers' time and energy. 2. The Orem franchisee was difficult to communicate with. This compounded the issues with the process. read more

Horrible massage therapist, bad experience. The massage therapist acted like it was time to pet a cat instead of doing shiatsu. She just held one point lightly with no pressure; when asked to do legs, she barely touched them. Don't waste your money on a "full body massage". I expressed my dissatisfaction to the therapist; and she walked out of the room leaving me there. No apologies, no questions as to how she could improve the massage. I complained to the manager, and she did not offer another massage or a refund. And, I asked for both. Save your money and time and go somewhere else! Find therapists that do real work and have had authentic training in acupressure, Japanese style where they do real finger pressure work. Management turned out to be quite flexible to use and transfer massage credits outside the terms of their one-sided contracts. That was greatly appreciated and the reason for this updated review. After using up the credits that my wife was unable to, this place actually began to grow on me and I got a membership of my own. The one credit a month is billed at going rates ($60 for 1 hour, which is no deal, but not bad). However, if you frequently get more than one massage a month, that's where the real value lies, with additional 1 hour massages running only $40 and additional 90 min massages running only $60. Some therapists are better than others, but there are definitely good ones with lots of experience to keep going back to. Just make sure to use up those monthly credits you're paying for with regularly scheduled massages or you're setting yourself up for a disappointing situation. I wish I could rate this place higher, as it's a very well-run location, but the corporate contract terms are just not consumer friendly. read more

Massage therapists range from adequate to excellent and by themselves would rank from 2 to 5 stars depending on the person. There seems to be a high turnover rate among the massage therapists, which probably speaks to poor work environment or problems with pay. It's frustrating because customers don't know what to expect from one visit to the next. Front office staff are mostly cold and disinterested, with poor communication skills and a dead-eyed zombie impersonation that's a little weird. It's rare to hear a cheerful voice or see a smile. Effective customer service requires upbeat extroverts but they're not to be found at Massage Envy in Orem. Maybe it's just a crappy workplace. Scheduling appointments can be a hassle with more than a few short-notice cancellations and reschedules. Very frustrating to be out the door and driving to a massage appointment and then get a call saying they need to cancel and reschedule, but they don't have openings that fit your schedule. The monthly contract is a joke, bordering on a scam. You need to hound them to ensure the contract is cancelled at the end of the term. If possible, I'd give zero stars for the business model. Most of the time, I ignore bad experience and reward good experiences with positive reviews. This one took the cake, so I'm going out of my way to keep people out of here. My friend and I setup surprise massages for our wives for Mother's Day a couple weeks in advance. A few days before the scheduled massage, my friend's wife gets a call from Massage Envy's manager and she tells her that due to overbooking that day, we needed to reschedule the massages. She didn't know about the massages (surprise ruined), so she was confused. Once she started figuring out what was going on, she told the manager that her husband had probably set this up as a surprise, and that she'd have to talk to him about rescheduling in case other things were planned that day. The manager responded with, "Well it doesn't matter, you need to reschedule." Long story short, the manager demanded that my friend's wife reschedule her massage due to THEIR screw up, and even started to call her out for lying about the massage being a surprise, since she "must've known something about it because you knew what I was talking about when I called." Yeah, that's probably a good way to make sure you keep your customers coming back. Not only did the manager accuse our friend of lying, but she continually demanded that we reschedule the rest of their spa day because Massage Envy can't figure out how to schedule their therapists. I could go on, but you get the idea. We've asked Massage Envy's area manager to call us back, but after 2 weeks we haven't heard back. We've messaged corporate, been promised a response within 48 hours, and now a week later, no response. We've been with Massage Envy for approximately 10 years so we are aware of the strengths and weaknesses of a chain such as this but, the Orem location is really poorly managed. We consistently have issues there. The last several times, the therapist started 13 minutes late and still stopped at 10 minutes to the hour. I told the front desk but they didn't do anything at all. I then rescheduled for today. The therapist called in sick and they didn't even let me know. I called to confirm and that's when they told me. I spoke to the manager but he did nothing. He seemed to be quite young and very inexperienced. He offered nothing for our inconvenience at all. They are awful. After 10 years, we're done. read more

I've been going to massage envy for 4ish years now. Honestly this business is a scam. They want your money, not your wellness. I've had many experiences to lead me to think this. But this location in particular, I've had countless massage therapists quit when I call back to schedule with them. Half the staff desk is new, and doesn't know what's going on to help properly. The memberships are a scam. I tried cancelling, I confirmed multiple times that it was cancelled, and they said "oh, well if you get charged just call us". I got charged. And getting someone on the phone who knows how to handle the situation is all the battle, and all of a sudden it's my fault I got charged. Find a massage elsewhere, trust me. I am someone who works 5-6 days a week building power lines and I felt a huge sense of relief after just a single session with Natasha at the Orem location. I personally am a someone who is looking for a therapist to help put my body back together after weeks of abuse and I finally feel I have found that person. Natasha is excellent at listening to your needs and with 9 years of experience behind her she was able to even explain my symptoms better than I could. She is very responsive to any feedback and does her best to make sure you're getting the most out of each visit. Also want to mention after reading previous reviews I have personally never had an issue with any staff at this Orem location. Worst Massage Envy in existence. GO TO MASSAGE GREEN INSTEAD!!! The customer service here is absolute trash, I've never had so many consistent issues with a company in my life. They do nothing to remedy the situations that *they cause*. I've had countless bad experiences at this location, but I'll limit it to the two worst ones for the sake of this post. My first awful experience was when instead of receiving a reminder phone call about my massage the day before, I received a call 50 MINUTES into when my massage was scheduled. At that point I had already missed it based on when they decided to call me to "ask where I was". I didn't even have a chance to drive over to at least get half a massage or something. The receptionist told me she was going to charge me anyway despite not calling me to alert me that I was late. I asked why I wasn't called within 10 minutes of my appointment starting since that was protocol and she told me that they only call when the masseuse informs them their client isn't there. Basically, my masseuse purposely waited to tell the front desk that I hadn't arrived until my appointment was already over so that she could still get paid without having to do any work. This was confirmed by when the receptionist told me she would still be charging me since they needed to pay the masseuse. But also, the receptionist has a list of appointments and see who they checked in...so I think both were at fault. Ridiculous. My second awful experience was just a couple weeks ago. I had a massage scheduled with my usual massage therapist. I got a missed call from Massage Envy the day before my massage was scheduled. Since nobody left me a voicemail I expected that it was just the reminder phone call which is standard protocol. The next day I drove in the bad weather to Massage Envy and greet the receptionist, Kaylee. I tell her I have an appointment and she says, "Oh, Jodi actually quit a week ago." I say, "Ok, so did you re-schedule me with a new massage therapist?" She says, "No, we only have 3 therapists today. We tried to call you." I said, "Yes, I received a missed call, however, nobody left me a voicemail, so how was I supposed to know my massage was canceled?" She was pretty rude, never even apologized for THEIR MISTAKE. I just drove out of my way in bad weather, and they didn't offer up a simple apology for a situation that once again, they caused. What's even more frustrating in my opinion, considering they knew that my masseuse had quit a week before my scheduled massage, nobody decided it would be important to get those appointments covered by another masseuse? The receptionist didn't think it's important enough to leave me a quick and simple voicemail that my massage was canceled so I didn't drive out of my way for no reason? Kaylee didn't think it was rude enough that I braved the bad weather due to their mistake that she should say sorry for the miscommunication? So many components of this had to go wrong for me to show up to a non-existent appointment that had been scheduled for 6 weeks. Yet once again, they do not take responsibility, nor do they try to right their wrongs, alienating a consistent customer. On top of all this, I have e-mailed the location FOUR TIMES so that they can remedy the situation, and they still have not responded 11 days later. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. I will 100% be canceling my membership and will be convincing my boyfriend and immediate family members to cancel as well. I refuse to let anyone close to me give this company another penny. He was never told that they would be using the gift card for the membership and that he only had three months to use the two other massages or they would expire. He only received one horrific massage where he was literally being poked in the back by the massage therapist's index finger for one hour. This place is a scam. They took his father's day gift and scammed him out of what was supposed to be a loving and relaxing gift from his family.
