My husband and I booked pedicures for a special occasion, it cost about the same amount as going to a professional nail bar but was not very professional, the wicker chairs are seriously uncomfortable, the foot soaking tubs are really small, the students were really nice, but when we walked away, our feet still had a lot of dead skin that wasn't exfoliated , my polish was painted outside of my nails yet somehow also my old polish was still showing on the edges. I just moved here and I was looking for a spa to get treatments regularly. It was going well until i was sneezed on during the chemical peel. The student apologetically wiped my face with a hot towel. My face began to burn so I had her take it off and stop the treatment. She applied a cream to my skin that helped sooth it. I was disgusted after my facial when she turned the lights on for me to get dressed and i saw the dirty sheets i was laying on. Don't go here. read more

I have received two facials from this location so far and I hope to purchase another one in a few months. This is the best price that I have ever found for a facial. I had the amazing opportunity of experiencing a $150 facial in California last year. So my expectations are undoubtably a bit high when it comes to facials after receiving that luxurious facial. But even though this facial is performed at a learning institute by a student , It is almost as good as the very pricey facial I received elsewhere last year. And I would much rather have four or five facials here than one very expensive facial in California. Each facial that I received at skin Science Institute Orem was different from the other and both were very relaxing. The second time around they offered a free seaweed back mask. It is cold when they first put it on but then it warms up once you lay down. And the seaweed mixes with minerals to produce fizzy bubbles that pop on your back and feel very interesting. Then at the end of the facial they wipe off the mask with wonderful warm towels. I can't wait to go back for another facial. read more

Im a former student at orem skin science. I did not enjoy my time at school here. The school is very dirty and they don't care about students skin at all, we had to do a chemical peel every two weeks when it is required to do four weeks apart and each time I showed concern their response was "you're in school and if you don't participate you will be sent home and fined $25". I felt as though they just wanted my money and didn't care to teach or help me. The education there was the bare minimum, we read straight from the textbooks and never talked about what we read, and were expected to understand it on our own. Someone that made my experience awful is Vanessa Peterson (Campus director). She treated her students and staff members with so much disrespect, she would often be bipolar where she would be nice one day and tell us not to bother her another. She blatantly showed favoritism and would let some students slide and would take school assignments off people and wouldn't have them do it if she liked them. She constantly had her door closed when she was suppose to be the instructor over us on spa. she personally showed me attitude and was flat out rude to me on multiple occasions. She drove away my favorite employees and continued not to address it and seemed extremely happy about it. The head instructor also treated the students like they were dumb. It's concerning to me how often employees were quitting, it seems like there is a very big issue with admin positions. i've also heard admin talk badly about students behind their back. Vanessa told students that she leaves her airpods in rooms and listens in on students and staffs conversations. it's almost like a high school environment, with the admin acting like teenage bullies. if you are thinking about coming to this school, I do not recommend it. read more

I came to get a facial and a pedicure. The sheets were dirty and stained. I commented to the student thinking that my sheet hadn't been changed, and she said all of the sheet were like that. So gross! Then we went to the nail room to get a pedicure. While the student did her best, most of the nail polishes were crusty and dried out. We had to go through a handful of colors to find one that was good enough to use. Again, the student told me that polishes have always been like that and it was frustrating when trying to work with them. I give the girl credit, but I for sure won't be going back. I know 3 girls that went there as students (which is why I wanted to try it) and after my experience and in talking with them, they even told me they wouldn't go back as students to that school. 2 graduated from there, 1 left early and went to a different school. Don't waste your time or money! They try to make things look pretty from the outside, but the inside is a different story. read more

I felt like they would be simple procedures but I left looking terrible :( There is zero curl to my eyelashes, only spots of black dye here and there. In May I paid for three groupon $45 Mani-Pedi-Facial packages at Skin Science Institute as gifts for Mother's Day . I received a receipt and a voucher for each package. In August, I called to make an appointment for the treatments and was told I needed to bring a voucher that had a voucher number. What I thought was a voucher did not. The day before the scheduled appointment, I took the receipt and the "voucher" in to make sure I had the right paperwork. The receptionist at the Skin Science Institute told me I didn't have a voucher, and that I needed one in order for them to receive payment. I showed her the receipt with the money paid and services paid for. She talked to the manager, then told me I would have to "work it out" with Deseret Digital Media. When I called Deseret Digital Media, they told me Skin Science Institute had already received the payment and I would have to "work it out" with Skin Science Institute. End result - I paid $135 and received no services. I don't know who ended up keeping my money, but I wasted $135 and will never patronize the Skin Science Institute again. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. It is a waste of time and money!!! I knew that my appointment was going to take some time as my lash extensions were being done by a student. But after FOUR hours, she told me that she had somewhere to be and would not be able to finish my right eye but that I could come in the next day to have it done??? I kindly told her that it is an 1 hour+ trip to get to the salon and that it would be rather inconvenient to come the next day. She then found someone else who could finish my lashes. The second student got an instructor and the instructor explained to me that my Lashes had been glued to my skin rather than to my lashes. This meant they had to be removed. So after four hours my lashes were removed. My eyes were left bloodshot and extremely irritated. My eyes have never been in so much pain. I wish that the instructors would have been checking in every couple hours rather than waiting until they are nearly done. Super frustrating and painful.
