I've been a member of massage envy for a very long time. I've been to most locations around the Tampa Bay Area. Not every detail is perfect but this location is unique for a few reasons I enjoyed. First off, parking is a little tricky compared to most locations. I'm sure there's a place that's cheaper and more efficient than what I found (Starbucks garage, paid $9 for 2 hours) but I know being downtown can be tough for parking. When I found the entrance, you're essentially next to the outdoor bar for another business. The vibes outside were loud and party. I could see enjoying a nice drink after my massage for sure. Inside was elegant and honestly more spacious in the common area than I expected. Also the bathroom having mouth wash: A+. Marie was AWESOME. Very experienced and personal. Will be back! read more

They advertise a price of $113 for 90 minutes online, as an intro if you haven't done a massage in the last six months. Walked in for my appointment and they said that they're independently owned and don't honor that, and tried to charge $188. That is over $100 more than I pay at Essentials Massage. The staff and manager were of no help, the whole situation was handled unprofessionally. I took the time to come to the location and never ended up getting a massage. Bait and switch, be aware they do not honor the prices you'll see upon booking, there's plenty of other negative reviews about this location and staff. The worst massage experience ever. read more

This entire business, all locations included, are horrible! They never keep good therapist's. Had an appointment today and was called FIVE minutes before my appointment and was told the therapist could not make it. This IS NOT the first time. The only reason I need to continue to go is because you cannot get a refund on unused services- I have a lot because they can't keep good people - the other services suck! I detest everything about this place. They charge for being late but nothing when your therapist is late - your time will still be deducted from them being late. They will never respect or value their customer's time - they have you by the balls when you have so many services to redeem... oh, you can't pause your account so you can catch up on your unused services, that's not allowed. They want them to accumulate so they'll have you right where they want you! Forget about calling corporate. They do not have anyone to answer your call. I had a gift card and after a very challenging month, I decided to finally treat myself and use it. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly. This location is in a convenient downtown location. It is a very calming atmosphere and the staff was nice. As for the massage, it was a standard relaxation massage. They played nice music and the lights were dimmed to allow for a relaxing experience. My therapist did a very good job and I left feeling utterly happy. I have been a member here for over a year. There are many different massage therapist to choose from. Front desk staff is extremely helpful, and always help matching me up w the therapist I need. Rooms are clean, and overall is very tranquil. I tend to fit w Meyumi, she has gotten to know my trouble areas, and is always an amazing session. recently I started using Katie as well. She as well can truly help when I'm in my worst of shape. Between these two ladies you can't go wrong. The membership is nice, being that I have used it to my advantage for taking a day off from skiing in Utah, or after a primitive camp in the Rockies. This long overdue development is finally happening here (took about 6 years!) in the Channelside area and thanks to Massage Envy, it's making life convenient for local residents and travelers alike to pop in and use their membership towards services. Did you know if you signed up as a member, services are available any where you travel in the United States? Heather assisted us in a very meticulous manner and we gave that kind of attention a high-five! Myoami handled our massage and paid attention to our specific areas in need. We are happy to be a member and utilized their facial services which was another bonus; they use Murad products and soon to add chemical peels in addition to another skin care line we cannot remember. The location and pricing really drew us in, as we considered using Groupon as an option (glad we went with the membership option). * The one thing we recommend to Massage Envy is some sort of digital application via iPad or Android. Saves on overhead expenses and makes the process less "fluffy" and tiresome. Receipts are another thing, did you know thermal paper is toxic and your skin absorbs plastic into your blood stream when it comes in contact with your skin? Text options are the way to go to alert customers, alongside appointment alerts, special events, etc. instead of email; Apple & Android pay is another bonus but not necessary as they store you credit card on file. It would be interesting to see an organic skin care line introduced as an option for guests who prefer this kind of treatment. Note, if you are military or an immediate local resident, a corporate discount is applied! The front desk told me both of my appointments were at 5 when I booked it. We got a text that said my wife's service provider is ready at 4:45 as we were driving in. We called to explain that we booked for 5pm. Jackie who took our call had no empathy for the situation. Her main objective was to tell us we were wrong and that there was nothing we could do about it. She didn't express an apologetic attitude, only an attitude of this is not my problem and did not care I was losing 15 minutes of my massage because of their booking error. There was no manager there to take that call on a Saturday of all days. When we got there and expressed our frustration with Jackie and how she spoke to us and how we eve said over the phone she didn't care and her reply was okay. We were then told by the masseur Isaac that he is no longer comfortable providing services because we were upset. Which needless to say only added more fuel to the fire. If at any point Jackie had actually apologized instead telling us how wrong we were. Or said she would personally call the manager to see if there is anything they could do to make it better. Even if there wasn't anything, reassuring the client that they matter and their feelings are heard is the point of customer service. We have been members for 4 years and will cancel because of Jackie, she has no business working the front desk. She clearly needs more training. read more

My first massage experience with Piotr was great. But that's where the fun ends. I was sucked into a membership by a front desk person, and I agreed since she told me that I could have a payment plan and also roll massage over to another month if I don't receive one for a prior month. Considering my busy schedule, I was sold. I booked two appointments with my membership and I was told on several occasions it is only $60 a month for an hour massage. Anytime I came from an appointment, they wanted an extra $40 upfront. What's the point of the membership if you're paying basically for the regular amount?! A second issue I had was a time where I forgot to put my new card on file. I was due with a payment and I placed my card on file with Jackie. She scheduled an appointment with me via phone. I called the day before to cancel due to an illness. To my surprise, Heather, told me that I don't have an appointment in the system. That's when frustrated me decided to cancel my membership due to the inconsistencies. Heather told me that my payment should be good for another cycle so I can schedule an appointment. Welp, I was going to book one tomorrow, and once again, an additional $40 is due. Taking this sore body and patience elsewhere. read more

For all of the Massage Envy haters out there: This place is fine. In fact, it's great! This location in Channel District is clean, staff is friendly and the services are great. Not to mention, free parking in the garage. Another great point about this location is you can use your session for a massage or facial. Having experienced 3 different Massage Envy locations in two states, this is one of the better locations. They are franchised so different owners. Here is a tip to consider. . . Find the right therapist. Majority of the therapists are new and are fresh out of school. Sometimes you can find an experienced one but if they are new they try a little harder. Usually they are just as good just a little less experienced and are not fully comfortable in their communication with clients. Usually the really good therapists book out so plan it in advance. Lastly, this is probably the best massage deal that exists. Consider most spas charge well over $125 for 50 minutes. With a membership (1 yr contract) it's about $59 per month. I am a long time member of Massage Envy Spas, and love their membership services. On 12/28/16 I decided to treat my friends from Sweden to a couples massage, since they decided to make this Tampa visit their honeymoon. At first I decided to call my local spa in Clearwater, soon realizing that the girl on the phone was not really understanding my needs. So then I decided to call the Tampa location since that was close to where they were staying at my brothers house. The lady that helped me book their appointment & one for me as well was great! She booked the couples massage and my single massage at the same time (11am) with no problem. She even convinced me to do something special with a foot scrub for them. I received a confirmation call at around 1pm Friday Dec 30th for both the couples massage and my massage at 11am 12/31/16. I was pretty excited! That same evening around 8pm I received another call that they were unable to keep my appointment with Fred and that I should call them back to reschedule or schedule with someone else. When I called back at 8:30pm they informed me that they could reschedule me at 2pm or 8pm. However they were unable to reschedule my guests couples massage for either of those times. I was deflated. I couldn't cancel my guests massage, they were too excited for it. But I must say I was extremely disappointed. I still brought them in at 10:45 on 12/31/16; used one of my credits with a $10 transfer fee, paid for another massage, their 2 foot scrubs and the tip. Besides an apology all they offered was for me to schedule a facial at 2pm. Ridiculous! I'm supposed to make my guests wait over 2 hours just so I can get a facial that I would still have to pay for, that I didn't even want in the first place?? I wanted a massage. What good host would do that to their guests in town from Sweden on New Years Eve? I was going to sit there and wait for them in the quiet atmosphere, but the girl suggested (almost seemed like she told me) to go over to the coffee house and wait. I complied because I didn't know what else to say... Needless to say, I will most likely not visit the Tampa location again. It is also highly unlikely that I will recommend Massage Envy to any of my friends or family in the future. If this is how they "make things right" for a long time member, I wonder how you treat non members. read more

The massage I received was to say the least unpleasant. When he was not clawing my back with his long fingernails, Fred seemed to be pushing on random bones on my shoulder blades instead of the muscles that were sore. He probably grazed a single problem area for less than a minute total of the 50 I was in there. He stretched my back out which was also painful, not asking if he was pushing too far. He spend the same amount of time stretching as messaging which I did not argue with based on the clawing that came with the massage. He was not dressed professionally, and while I certainly don't expect a massage therapist to be in business attire, I do expect them to look well groomed and not slovenly and unkempt which was the case. I have scratch marks from his long fingernails all over my back and will post pictures wherever I am able to do so on here. I am not new to massages by any means and have never experienced anything like this. I was very disappointed bc I have heard good things about the company from both my dad and my boyfriend and I was excited about the convenience of location since I live in Channelside. Do not visit this location. It is right next door to my home and I wouldn't go here again if someone paid me. First, I went for a Massage to work out some tension in my back. I often get massage therapy and wanted to create a routine so I purchased a membership. I was told the membership was month to month and could be canceled at any time. Buyer's beware: LIES, no management is ever available, so you are faced with employees who cannot even correct or cancel an account. What good business do you know who never has empowered employees or a manager on site? I have escalated 3 times at this point and only received another email from the same associate who did not inform me that canceling with her and submitting a form would not be enough because this location is a scam and will just keep charging your card no matter what. Then they will follow-up with no action bc only a manager can cancel after receiving a request and documentation from an associate. What kind of bologna.... After no help, two months and two charges later, I am going to have to block them through American Express, but why can you not just do your job. Not to mention, I am canceling because I booked two appointments under the "firm pressure" option and then get in the room for the woman to tell me , " I do not like firm," then why did it list her as such? In that same vein, I gave the benefit of the doubt and went back the same week only to have the bare minimum service and a late start. Over them. Excellent. Frank and Kristin took great care of me and really tailored my services to my exact needs. Most massage/facial places just do a standard "relaxation treatment" for everyone - where as Frank and Kristin didn't even touch me without asking me in detail what I wanted to get out of the experiences first. Frank showed me what a therapeutic massage was and worked on specific areas I needed, instead of just a cookie-cutter approach of one massage fits all. Everyone is really professional and makes you feel very comfortable. Highly recommend and will be returning asap. read more

Two strikes-Done! The first time I went to the downtown location I specified a deep tissue massage since I'm not new to massage. My massage therapist of 11 years moved and I am looking for an alternative. I arrived for my 1st appoint after navigating rush hour, finding parking and the receptionist stated you're here for a light massage, right? Ugh no. They had me scheduled with a therapist with "a light touch" and did not have anyone else. I expressed my concerns, they worked out something, found another masseuse, I waited an additional 1/2 hour but in the end at least the wait and drive time was not wasted. The massage was fine. The 2nd time, I booked the massage and explained I was intending to become a member. Shortly after booking the massage I received a call from a Giselle from Massage Envy asking for a cc number. Did this person really think I was going to give my cc number to someone calling to my phone? I explained I was occupied and would call Massage Envy once done. Giselle assured me that the appointment would be held and simply to back with the cc number-ok but weird. One hour later I called and was told there was no appointment. What? I spoke with Giselle and she said the appointment was taken. Really, thought it would be held? Giselle stated someone already gave their cc number for that time. What is going on? Not pleasant. I asked to speak to a manager, non available until tomorrow, then, to get me off the phone, Giselle asked "would you like to book at one of our other locations, I could give you the number"? Never even offered to check availability herself. Giselle then offered a "relaxing" facial instead. I explained, I don't need a facial, I have an esthetician, I need a massage. Then to add insult to injury, as if nothing was heard, not the request for a manager, a massage and that I will not be using "Massage" Envy for a facial, she stated "lots of people find our facials relaxing", perhaps you will change your mind in the future. What a terrible experience all around. Both encounters with Massage Envy downtown Tampa were unpleasant and the franchise seems to be like a Walmart for massage. I will NOT become a member and do not recommend this location. I am writing a review because I wish I had known this type of information before considering. read more

I had a massage appointment today and was looking g forward to it. I've been there before and thought the therapists were great. However today was a different experience. I have been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. This changes everything including your internal temperature regulator. Which means I run hot hot hot all the time. While i am medicated it doesn't solve this issue. The bed warmer was turned off as requested. I asked that the blanket be removed and was told it was a ME policy to leave it on. They could give my feet air. I asked her to inquire with the manager and she too said no. Needless to say I won't be returning. I have never had a massage anywhere where my requests as the customer were not granted. Guess they just don't want my biz. So be it. So those out there with this condition I recommend finding some other place. WHILE I HAD TO CHOOSE A STAR I WOULD CHOOSE NONE IF I HAD THE OPTION. read more
