To begin with, do not waste your time and money going to this unprofessional crapshow. The customer service is atrocious and quite frankly MEAN. I scheduled an appointment for my wonderful postpartum wife to get relief. My wife called earlier for them to delay the massage an hour or two. They rudely said they could not do that and my wife answered "okay thank you." She never once told them to cancel the appointment. My wife unknowingly showed up at 1:00 with the woman worker rudely saying she cancelled her appointment. They cancelled my wife's massage appointment without her consent or telling her. They then offered her a facial to try and make up for it... It was SoSo at best. They never apologized for how rude they were in person and over the phone and proceeded to try and Upsell her for a membership. AVOID THIS PLACE at all cost. read more

Horrible customer service, unclear policy's. AND if your pregnant do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. My husband gifted me a gift card to receive service here for V-day. I did find out I was pregnant the day before my scheduled massage. Upon arriving I was told it was no big deal because the therapist was pre-natal certified. I got back into the waiting area when the assistant manager came in to inform me in an indirect and frustrating manner that I was unable to receive a massage because the therapist was not certified. Fine, companies have procedures to keep expectant mother safe. I can get behind that. What irritated me was I had them call me with an appointment time because they were unable to get their life together enough to provide me with an appointment time after waiting close to 20 minutes. After the scheduling phone call, I received a second voice mail explaining that they required a doctor's note to receive a prenatal massage prior to 6 weeks. Any Mom knows it is extremely rare to find an OBGYN who will see you prior to 8-10 weeks so this request was laughable. Fine, I rescheduled my appointment a second time to abide by their policy of NOT needing a doctors note after 6 weeks. Two days before my appointment I called just to check I was not going to have any further issues and low and behold the rep I spoke to said I would still be required to provide a doctors note even after complying with their first request. So during the conversation I requested a refund of the gift card and explained I would be in the next day to receive said refund. I was told on the phone this was possible and nothing more. After driving 45 minutes to this location, the same assistant manager informed me refunds have to be approved by the owner and only the owner AND they have 48 hours to respond to the request. So, after having a rational conversation with the assistant manager she finally agreed to call the owner, who said they would not provide my refund after their location refused services when I abided by their policy's. This place is awful. Take your business elsewhere. La Vida Massage in Wakefield is a close alternative and I have never had a bad experience. read more

Beware! MASSAGE ENVY in Wake Forest is SHADY! Once they get your credit card, good luck cancelling future monthly charges. Tried to cancel in January this year and mysteriously my paperwork I signed at their location was "lost". When I found out in March it was still hitting my credit card, I let it go because I figured I'd stop it later and take screenshots to prove. Then I put a hold on the account in June because I had too many services I had yet to use (but I learned you can't use services while account is on hold apparently ...really???), and they contacted me in September saying my credit card wouldn't work (because it had been compromised so I got a new number). I told them I wanted to close the account anyway because I couldn't use the services I had wracked up so I was good. Now they won't let me use my services because they say I owe them another month beginning sept 28th. I went in to close the account (again) and at the time, I told them to take one of my monthly services as final payment (which they apparently did) but 4 days later no suspension lifted and no contact from "management". Apparently management is never there or available and never return messages. It was only serendipity that my card number changed so I could untangle myself from their financial grip....now they want my new card number to release my services....hell to the NO!!! One they get your card, GOOD LUCK stopping the recurring charges and know they change their policies at whim. Go elsewhere! You'll thank me!! read more

The lady that give me the massage she was very nice and was very calm and asked a lot of questions about needs an wants what's best for you as the massage was given .... But where my problems come in as was when the massage was over the stuff immediately wanted you to have an membership an wanted an up charge for the price an tip as well ...... I must say that I did read the reviews prior to scheduling my appt. and I should have listened to the reviews and my gut. Everyone was very nice but my masseuse was running late which I understood and didn't have a problem with bc I still got my 60 mins. I do feel like I wasted $90. My husband give better massages than the one I received that day. I basically got a good greasy rub down. No pressure was given although I kept asking the masseuse several times to go deeper. It was such a waste of time and money. Alexandra was my masseuse and although she was a very nice lady. She did a poor job on my massage I regret going there. I and my mother-in-law recently went to this location for the first time. I have nothing but rave reviews for Ann, my massage therapist. Had it not been for her, I would have given this location one star. Gia was my "advisor". What does that even mean? I'll tell you. Your advisor is the person who is responsible for pushing a membership on you. And that would be okay, because it's really a good deal to have a membership. However, this girl talks way too much. First off I'm not trusting someone who admittedly does this as a "second job"... her words, not mine. She has no customer service skills, a flat affect, and quite frankly her look is not reflective of the services that they offer or the ambiance they're trying to display. Her look isn't one i was trying to replicate. Her pants were unbuttoned, her shoes had holes in them, her shirt was pilly, and her nails were horrid. Anybody with any sort of life experience could see that it was apparent that she was trying to push a sale for a membership. It was a big turn-off for me. I don't know that I'll go back because I honestly don't want to deal with her again I could have looked past all of that has she not talked SO much for SO long. It was painful. She kept us there an hour past our appointment trying to sell this membership... because my MIL is so friggin nice. Nothing short of painful. Thank goodness I had such a wonderful massage therapist. The whole experience was the antithesis of relaxing; the check in person was confused, therapists were running late and when I asked about the time being extended to compensate for the tardiness, big sigh and eye roll. This was the worst. I paid $185 to get a rub down. When I booked I specially said deep tissue and called back 2 days before to confirm deep tissue. My partner specially itemized that she wanted her gluts done and they never even touched her gluts. This was a waste of their time and my money, it a relaxing rub down not the deep tissue massage I requested. I felt like they just booked me to get my money and not with what I requested. It was suppose to be a birthday gift for my fiancé and we both left disappointed, annoyed and wasted our time. An hour that we can't get back. I have been a member for over ten years. I am sorry to say that my last massage was not good. I had so much oil left on me that my clothes stuck to me and my hair looked like an oily mess from her using oily hands to move my hair. I had to go home and soap shower the oil off. I have never written a bad review this is my first. I have not been back since and I don't want to get this person in trouble but she truly needs more training. Last year for Christmas, I treated my parents each to a Massage Envy certificate so that they could enjoy some massages. I purchased one certificate on 12/2 and the other on 12/20, both online, requesting for the certificates to be delivered by email on Christmas Day. When Christmas rolled around, only my mother received a certificate, and my father did not. I tried calling the corporate office for Massage Envy many times, and was never able to reach a live person. I also sent several emails but never received any response. After several weeks, Massage Envy finally sent him his certificate, but never responded to my emails. Fast forward several months, and he uses his certificate at this particular Massage Envy. They then call him AFTER THE FACT to tell him that the certificate is not valid (??) and ask him for payment (tacky!). This gift has been nothing but a hassle for both my parents and myself since purchase. 1. Certificate never received on Christmas. 2. Nobody at corporate office to assist with the issue, answer phones or respond to emails. 3. When the certificate was used, they SHOULD have caught the fact that it was not valid at the time of treatment, not later after he had left. Upon researching, I found that my transaction was voided on the same day of purchase. However, the refund did not appear until the following billing statement, so I was not aware at the time of my emails and calls to Massage Envy. That might have explained why he never received the certificate in the first place. I also do not know WHY it was refunded, as that was never requested by me. Lastly, why on earth would Massage Envy finally send him a VOIDED gift certificate in response to my emails??? (Merry Christmas - here's a certificate that won't work!) This location rarely answers the phone to book appointments and when you do get an appointment, and show up, they tell you that the therapist assigned to you can't work with you because your therapist doesn't work with people under 18 when they already knew you were under 18 so you can't even use the massages you've purchased. Then they can't get you a massage ANYWHERE. What a complete waste of money and time to not be able to get a massage when you really need one. read more

After using gift certificate up and not planning to rejoin, I was asked for account to be placed on a six-month sabbatical (which I agreed). After the six months were up, without any notification, Massage Envy began drafting my checking account. Read the contract verbatim! Stupid me for not paying attention! After FOUR months, I get a call to schedule appointment. Ok, I now have 4 sessions I have paid for. I scheduled 3 appointments and it worked out fine. However, 4th session appointment was made about a week out of the 4-month timeframe...but was I told that? I did not know exact start/end date but the clerk should have known...and told me. Therefore, at last session I'm told I have no prepaid 4th session because it expired! I did not want to cancel with therapist standing there waiting on me so I paid double for last session. I wanted to like this place, but I definitely will not come back. They rescheduled me 3 times in the same day, but didn't call to tell me, instead they waited until I came all the way back into their location and then told me to come back later. Waste of time and gas. The staff was cold and condescending. I requested a female, but got a male; However at the risk of being rescheduled AGAIN, I didn't complain. They also added a heat treatment that I didn't ask for, but made it seem like I wouldn't be charged, so I went along with it. But they did charge me for it, when I was never even asked if I wanted it, they just told me they were doing it. Not only that, but DURING my massage, the masseuse tried to get me to buy their products. Overall it was a negative experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Please do not waste your money here and DON'T LET THEM INJURE YOU. I went to get a massage for the first time as my sister gave me a Birthday certificate. I went and found that they pressure you to purchasing their yearly membership after your massage is over, they don't let you leave without making you sit and go through their spiel. Then the next morning my right shoulder started hurting. I called to see if there was anything they could do (a recommendation from my trainer was to call them and let them know as they will probably just try and work it out as he believes it has to do with a nerve). So that is what I did. Spoke to Gail and she stated there is nothing they can do and it was probably due to my normal routine. They do not claim any ownership to their mistakes and try to get more money out of you when they are the ones that are incorrect. read more
