Every year for my birthday, I treat myself to a full body massage. This year I was especially looking forward to a massage because my neck and shoulders have been killing since I work every day as a barista. I remember getting a chair massage from Massage Heights representatives at a Women's Expo a few years back and decided they were my location of choice. The front desk/ lobby area was probably my favorite thing about Massage Heights. I love that it's completely separated from the actual massage rooms so that you're not disturbed by lobby noise during your massage. I scheduled my appointment many weeks in advance and the receptionist commended me for my planning ahead. Since I was a first time client, my 50 minute massage was only $49.99 and I got 1/2 off the hot stone treatment and free aromatherapy oil. I really appriciated the professionalism of the receptionist and the lady who gave me my massage. I felt very safe and very calm during my time at Massage Heights (which is a huge plus due to issues I had at another spa place). The told the receptionist that I wanted my massage person to literally hurt me; to apply as much pressure as humanly possible to my shoulders. They said: "We have just the lady for you! She's made grown men cry!" Perfect. My actual massage was quite relaxing but definitely did not include the intensity that I wanted. The hot stones were calming and relaxing, but did not allow the massage lady to dig into my shoulders like I was hoping for. I needed pain relief and instead got a soothing strokes. I blame this on myself though for agreeing to hot stones. Next time, I'll know better. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Massage Heights. My fiancé and I get couple massages here and so far have had great experiences. The min we walk in the door it's clean, smells good and friendly costumer service. Booking the appointment is super easy and they really focus on what needs attention on your visits. My fiancé usually has Jennifer as his therapist but I decided to switch him since he claimed she was so good so I had Jennifer and he had Bekah and they did a great job. Jennifer does the best job working out all the kinks, she finds knots you never knew you had and has great knowledge of the body. My fiancé said that Bekah had great pressure and was very relaxing so we've decided we will just rotate them every time we go. We always look forward to our next appointment. read more

We had the membership, we canceled in January 2020. We had one last couples massage we had already paid for. We scheduled in January. They canceled our appointment. We rescheduled in February, early on Super Bowl Sunday. They canceled that appointment as well. We did not reschedule right away as we needed to check our calendars. Then Covid hit and the shut downs began. I tried today to schedule our last massage that we had paid for and they said we no longer had the credit on our account. I was told we had three months to schedule our last massage from the time we canceled our membership. We had scheduled the massage two different times that they canceled. I spoke with Assistant Director Becky who refused to honor the credit. **UPDATE: The manager Jen called me. After explaining they canceled on us on Super Bowl Sunday, she said she looked at the date and time and the therapists were available and I must not have answered the text to confirm my appointment the day prior. This was not true as I did respond "Yes" to confirm. They called me and canceled. After going in circles for way too Iong, basically I had to agree to disagree and we finished our call. She called back not much later and apologized as she said she saw they did call me and cancel but, she didn't understand why. She let us schedule our last session. We did have our last session last weekend. Even though Jen made this right, it was after she and Becky (with whom I spoke with before making the initial review) insinuated I had been lying about them calling and cancelling our appointment earlier this year and refusing to make things right until I started posting reviews. IMO, Massage Heights Corporate should make sure customers have a way to file a complaint about their franchisees. So I am moving my review from 1 to 3 stars because they finally honored the credits we had already paid for, had I not been given a run around, I would have given them a 5. This rating is solely based on the way Becky denied my initial request to schedule our couple's massage that we had already paid for and in my opinion having a bad attitude for someone in customer service and for my first interaction with Jen.*** read more

My boyfriend treated me to a massage for my 49th birthday. (I have a great guy!) Having worked in a spa doing skin care in the past, I'm aware of all of the "behind the scenes" arrangements that go into providing a truly relaxing and comfortable experience, which I was afraid was going to make it difficult for me to just focus on my own enjoyment of my massage. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my knowledge did not distract me from the experience much at all. The lobby area is calming, and provides a good mood bridge from the outside world to the therapy rooms. The front desk personnel were very helpful and friendly. My therapist was Janice, who was very knowledgeable and skilled. She discussed problem areas with me, and did some good focusing on those areas. She also taught me some stretches that I can use (and have been, with great success) that will help with those particular areas. Honestly, I think my first massage in years did me more good than one of my regular trips to my chiropractor, and I LOVE my chiropractor! I have since signed up for the monthly massage membership (which my boyfriend decided to gift me for Christmas! I told you I have a great guy!) I won't stop going to my chiropractor, mind you, but I'm looking forward to combining routine massages with my chiropractic care and discovering just how much better I can feel this coming year. read more

Massage Heights are alright. My therapist, Jolene, is amazing! I walked in and the receptionist was able to book me for an appointment in 30 minutes. The lobby is nice and relaxing. I asked her about any upgrades I could add to my massage and she told me about the "Elevations". These are 3 add-ons such as hot stones, foot scrub, & a "Hot Towel, Cold Stone Face Massage". I chose the foot scrub. It was only an extra $12. You also get to choose which aromatherapy scent they spray on your linens. The atmosphere behind the main doors was similar to Massage Envy. Dimmed lighting, water fountain, and soothing music. Jolene asked me what I would like her to work on and then we talked a little about work. It was a nice flowing conversation that felt very genuine - I did not expect that! The foot scrub was quite lacking. I've had better scrubs at nail salons. She slathered the sugar scrub on my feet, rubbed a bit, wiped my feet with a hot wet cloth and then dried them. It left a lot to be desired. I also worried that it was taking from my 1 hr massage. The actual massage was AMAZING. Jolene had the perfect mixture of medium pressure just like I asked for. I thought I was in Heaven. The massage was over all too soon. What prevents me from giving Massage Heights 5 stars is the membership fees. Just like Massage Envy, if I want another $49.99 massage I would have to sign up for 12 months. I asked if I could cancel before the 12 months is up because, hey, that's quite a commitment! She said I would have to talk to her manager because she doesn't handle cancellations. She did not indicate who the manager was and left the conversation there. If I want another massage from Jolene at Massage Heights I will have to pay $79.99 without a membership. I just don't think their prices are competitive. The Kansas City Metro has many massage spas that offer hour long massages under $80. While filling out the customer survey about my massage at the front desk 3-5 patrons paid for their massages all at the introductory price of $49.99 - no one had the membership and no one accepted the membership. Massage Heights is a one time stop for me. I won't go back but I may try to find out if Jolene massages anywhere else. She seriously was amazing. read more

Even though its a chain, it is a relaxing atmosphere once you enter the lobby. Check in was easy and simple. After just a few short moments my therapist Tammie took me back to a serene room with dim lights and relaxing tunes over the speakers. She expertly discussed my current stress and pain areas and quickly left the room for me to get comfortable. If I could give Massage Heights a review at the Independence Commons location it would be LESS than one star. The "therapist" Alera took four water breaks while she had a hot towel on my back and then started on my legs. Each leg was stretched (not massaged) for about three minutes. I mentioned that to her and she said she'd be getting back to it. Then she worked on my left shoulder for about two-three minutes and asked me to turn over. I said that she had forgotten my right shoulder and she said she'd get to that. (Never did) After what was supposed to be a 60 minutes massage which actually consisted of maybe 20 minutes of something like holding pressure points on my shoulder while she seemingly took a nap on my time, I asked her if she could "massage" my shoulder to help it relax. That was like a brush of the hand. By the time 40 minutes had passed, I asked her to stop. I was tenser than when I had gone in for a relaxing massage. VERY FRUSTRATING !!! Please refund my credit of $59.99. I have not had a good experience since I canceled my membership several months ago. read more

I had a gift card here and was pleasantly surprised. Massage Heights is a franchise business so I was a little nervous at first. The staff was very professional and friendly. It was very easy to get an appointment and their prices are SO reasonable! They offer a membership package which I was dreading hearing the spiel, but the membership makes a lot of sense and your money does not go to waste--if you don't use your month's massage, it rolls over into the next month! Today I walked in feeling my age (60) 90 minutes later, I am so ready to go out on the town! Must say it was the best massage I have had, it was so relaxing and peaceful and customer service was awesome. It made for a great day out, and topped it off with lunch near by.
