I made the appointment via text then I just went home after work and she was there waiting for me (right on time). She brings the whole set up, table, electric blanket, towels, music, oil. I was heartened to see the COVID19 precautions: all clients and staff must remain masked in the salon; extra time allotted between appointments for sanitizing the rooms; temp scan, hand sanitizer, and COVID symptom questionnaire when you enter. Despite all of that I started to have an anxiety attack as I disrobed for my first close contact with a person not in my bubble for four months. Being massaged in a mask was weird but not as uncomfortable as I expected and it was so necessary for healing my mind and body during these anxious times. You can feel safe here and who doesn't need a massage these days?

Whatever brought you to look at these reviews, let this be the one that pushes you over the edge: Just book an appointment already. She offers packages so the treatments really aren't that expensive. Save yourself the regret and try it now! It's really not painful, the needles are much smaller than any medical procedure, and Sarah WANTS you to have a good + healing time so just communicate with her. I literally have been telling everyone I know. If you have a chronic pain issue don't just live with it, fix it! Acupuncture is recommended as a valid treatment by John Hopkins + Harvard. It's not pseudo science, it's real science that works with your nerves and stimulates neurotransmitters. I waited until after 5 sessions (~7 weeks) to post this review, but I seriously feel like I inhabit a different body than I had in March when I had my first appointment (posting this in May). I have had painful tension headaches and migraines with auras my entire adult life - and so does some of my extended family - so I assumed they were just something I had to manage. But at the end of this session, I informed her that I prefer to not communicate during a massage. Thinking that I would be listened to, I then booked two appointments online. The next one I wanted to leave within the first 15 minutes of arriving. She did not listen to my request to not have ongoing communication during the session. But that wasn't the main reason I wanted to leave. The first 15 minutes of the session she asked me what worked and didn't work for the last session, I told her places on my body that I did not want touched. I felt like I was being argued with for the next 15 minutes as to why she felt the need to touch me in those areas. Then at the end of the session when I was tired, and just wanted to go home, she spent another 10 minutes trying to show me in a book why she felt the need for these areas to be addressed. I already said no. But I'm not listened to. My other massage therapist was wonderful and listened to me and never touched those areas. Unfortunately she's too far away For me to continue to see and so that's why I thought I would give Lauren a chance. During the session she kept bringing up reasons why she felt the need to go in those areas. I also felt like I was being talked down to about why she felt the need to work on those areas even though I said no. I am BIPOC and some of the things she was doing were not culturally sensitive. I understand as a white practitioner she may not understand these issues, so I spent part of that time explaining it to her. I was still not listened to and she insisted continuing to do these things. I wanted to leave the session, but I had already paid, so I stayed. I left that session, feeling frustrated, angry, and demeaned. I went online to cancel my next appointment and she sent me a text back saying that she would not refund my money. Adding insult to injury. I didn't want my money to fully go to waste, so I sent a Caucasian coworker to use my remaining session. She, too, felt that the session was more chatty than she likes. She, too, will not be returning. Rarely would I write a bad review. But this one had me so upset I just had to. There's so many massage therapists in the city. I wouldn't recommend going to this one.
