Today I visited Kavana for a "healing masage" which is the TITLE of the spa. To my utter dismay it was far from it!! On the phone the guy bragged about their servcies . Even AFTER I had explained my aches and needs. SADLY, I do not think he even heard me or cared. For furture clients in need of healing massage therapy I say run and do not look back!! DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR. Here's what I experienced: 1- First keep in mind they are on the SECOND floor and you have to climb 2 sets of metal stairs to get to them. ( there is an elevtor an theEND of the building). 1: They offer nothing AS A "healing spa " !! NADA!!( 2; The young msseuse has NO special training . She simply massaged with no special healing manuevers. She said the owner is more Expert in that. well why was I assigned to her?? I WANT MT MONEY BACK. 2: Room furnition: I MUST bring up:: Massage table extremely very narrow with very soft mattress not appropriate for massages, the head rest totally uncomfortable and could not use, there is one single white plastic low chair ( not safe to sit on) the whole room furnition below standardd. I feel I have been decieved and must let others know . I also would like FULL REFUND OF MY MONEY. read more

The entire experience was outstanding. Booking was easy and fast online. Stacey was attentive and professional. She listened and focussed on my problem areas. As a retired physician, I was impressed by her knowledge of anatomy and her ability to detect and relieve painful muscles. 6/16/20 Went back today for some more much needed body work. The covid-19 protocols were in place, and I felt very comfortable with their process. I was informed of all the precautions and we both wore masks. Stacy asked questions about what areas of my body were "talking to me". She worked on shoulders & lower back with some intense deep tissue manipulation. I was very happy with her work and attention to detail. Stacey does GREAT WORK! Highly recommended! read more

I've had three amazing massages with Wayne at Kavana Healing Arts Spa. The location is convenient with plenty of parking. The 2nd floor location lends itself to a more peaceful experience (getting away from then noise etc. of being on the street). Wayne is very knowledgeable and skilled. He made sure he addressed my problem spots and gave me suggestions for how to work on them at home. This is a clean, no-frills place that focuses on the task and hand and I appreciate that aspect of their business model. read more

What an amazing massage I received at Kavana! Wayne is the absolute BEST masseuse I've had... ever! Now I'm no newbie to getting massages, I've actually frequented many spas in Houston. I can officially say I have found "The One". I came in with some serious lower back pain, due to weight training, that 2 chiropractic adjustments could not help. 90 minutes with Wayne literally changed my life.. Today I had an amazing therapeutic massage directed exactly to the areas that I needed. Javi is so knowledgeable about anatomy, muscles, tendons etc. that he was able to treat the root of my aches. After concentrating on my muscular issue he proceeded to do an amazing body massage that left my body purring and my mind very peaceful. I still feel like I am floating and it's been hours. I didn't actually have service here but I wanted to write about my experience. I called Kavana around 3:30p on a weekday and they answered the phone saying, 'hello?" I said hello and asked if this was a spa, and the rep goes, yes. Probably not the most professional service I have had before. I started asking about reservations for a girlfriend and me and she told me her therapists are staggered and that she could fit us in at the same time on friday IF we didn't have a groupon. The groupon didn't stipulate any days, therapists, or timings. I inquired and she said that the groupon can only be used to book people that are new, and we don't have any new females or new folks that work during the same time....okay. Well I am calling groupon for a refund since all these new rules magically came up when you try to book and I am not going to try it! read more

This time around I went with Dana for an hour and a half for a therapeutic massage and it was absolutely wonderful she made me feel very comfortable, and she really does care about her clients I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and felt very relaxed. As some of the reviews state below they do not return phone calls or emails. I tried to reach out to them for weeks to set up 2 Groupon massages, and I was so frustrated by their lack of response that I contacted Groupon for a refund. I did get a response a couple of times, but it was 1. to say that they were unavailable the days I was requesting (without saying when they were available), or 2. to call back later, as the appropriate person was not available. Not only that but they seemed to discourage Groupon customers, as they do not accept Groupon massages on weekends. For such a small business you would think customer service would be a priority. I have been getting massages from Kavana for years. I have scoliosis and rheumatoid arthritis and they have really helped me manage the symptoms and alleviate pain. Ady has specialized training and really focuses on the trigger points that hold tension. I have also seen Dana who has strong hands and is great as well. read more

I have been getting massages at Kavana for 7 years and have only had positive experiences. The massage therapists, both female and male, are all excellent, tuned in, and the space is peaceful and safe. Stacey has always been helpful and professional with getting me appointments in a timely manner. Recently I had an amazing 90 minute massage by Dana, which was incredibly healing, relaxing and nurturing. She reminded me to breathe and together we worked out some kinks in my body that have been knotted up for eons. UPDATE: FALSE ADVERTISING! I did receive a call back, eventually, and an email response, by the proprietress -- Ady. Pleasant and accommodating, she made sure to book an appointment for me and was wonderfully communicative in every way. I was SO excited. I booked a much-needed body scrub and a "face lift massage." I arrived at the 'spa' a few minutes early, to discover that no one actually works there -- the space is only opened when someone books an appointment. It is basically a shared space, and despite the lovely photographs and expensive sink, has no sense of being lived-in or loved. At my appointment time, the service provider arrived -- a lovely woman named Dana -- who was very sweet and pleasant to speak with. However, it became obvious within a few minutes that the services which I had booked are not routine, or indeed, at all familiar to her. First, the product for the 'marine body polish' turned out to be dry and unusable. (Clearly, nothing had been used in a long time.) Also, there was no equipment there for a body scrub service, as anyone who has ever had a body scrub would notice within seconds. Not even plastic. Anyway, she seemed very unsure -- as I should have noticed when she kept insisting that I need no exfoliation, because my skin is soft -- and offered a massage instead. (She, and I think everyone who 'works here,' is an LMT.) I should have just said 'never mind, let's skip it,' but I really needed a scrub, so I encouraged her and told her to give it a go. The scrub basically involved her putting, very carefully, some marine fango on me (from a bottle that did not want to yield any of it, resulting in her having to battle it very noisily,) and taking it off. I could have done (and do it) easily at home, and with far more exfoliating action. Basically, it just didn't scrub me -- all it did was get me dirty. I could tell she wasn't really into it, so I said "ok, let's do the massage." She gave me a very nice massage, obviously that's what she does -- but not one alone for which I would have made the trip. So, the really exciting part was upon me -- the face lift massage. I felt much facial strain, and really needed someone to relax me and massage the tension away from my facial muscles. After a lovely but short scalp massage, and a very nice shoulder and neck massage, we moved on to the face -- and it all went downhill from there. The touch was light and unskilled, (again, there was no familiarity with the procedure,) and not only did not take any tension away, but her rough nails or skin scratched and irritated my skin. To make it worse, every time I tried to relax, (because her touch WAS nice,) she kept telling me to exhale -- or turn, or tell her 'on a scale from 1 to 10, how is your tension,' or move my head around -- and it totally took me out of the moment. I just needed to relax. Anyway, the scratching eventually got me past the point of politely waiting for it to end, and when my skin became irritated, I basically got up and thanked her and got dressed. Needless to say, my face was not 'lifted,' relaxed, or in any way better than when I arrived. My skin was irritated and my time was wasted on a very busy day. To add to it, little details: The music kept repeating (and skipping at times,) nothing smelled nice, there was a wash cloth-sized towel in the bathroom to serve as a hand towel... Things like this that show there is no attention paid to the client's experience. It felt like the business wasn't ready to be used yet, like they are thinking of opening it, but haven't yet. Not at all a pleasant (or healing) experience for a client. I must emphasize, Dana was perfectly lovely -- this is NOT her fault, please give her a chance for a relaxing massage, yelpers. But the spa services on Kavana's nice website, which read so dreamily, are plain fiction. There seems to be no readiness or training for any of them. No procedure. She should not have been put in the position to provide a service that she has no idea how to provide, and for which she has none of the necessary product or gear. I feel like my time, money, and hopes for a good scrub/facial massage were sucked into a trap of 100% false advertising. And that is the part that is unacceptable. I must also mention that I am very understanding and supportive of small businesses -- I champion and support them at every chance. But in this case, there was no love. There was no product. I, as a client, felt like an utter fool. I hope the next yelper (or anyone who needs a spa service) will have good cause to give them five stars and rave reviews, but for now -- the place just doesn't seem ready to offer anything to its clients. Bottom line: This is a business with a possible potential for a future -- but its present has not arrived yet. I wish them all the luck in the world -- but I can't in good conscience recommend this experience to anyone. read more

I've seen Dana and Ady who were both excellent. Very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. My massages both were amazing. I loved how it mattered to each therapist how I felt after and even the following day. I highly recommend Kavana to anyone looking for a massage therapist they can go to on a regular basis. read more
