But this type of store is exactly what you want to see when you go to Boone...it's on that hippie dippy crunchy earthy patchouli juju crystals and charms and voodoo tip, and it is so much fun. They've got jewelry and books and charms and handmade things and instruments and tarot cards and art and clothing and I love it all. I was specifically looking for gifts to bring back home for my little girls and found the perfect things. There is a section by the cash register that had dozens of handmade necklaces, all with various crystals and coins from around the world. I found two of the sparkliest, Dark Crystalliest ones and decided to go with those. The fun part was, there was a sign next to these necklaces that told a little story about the family that makes them, and explains that they do not price anything, and will accept anything that the buyer decides is fair. That is super cool, and a great way to get karma flowing heavy. I make jewelry regularly, so I know the cost of supplies, and can fairly accurately gauge the amount of time put into pieces. I decided $20.00 was fair for what I chose. I also purchased a bar of lemongrass soap, handmade from a Boone local. This is some of the strongest smelling lemongrass soap I've ever smelled, and I've already showered with it and am kicking myself for not getting more. Once I made the purchases, the lady at the checkout seemed thrilled, rang me up, and before I left said, "Wait! You and your girls need the angels...here..." as she poured a handful of silver, glittering angel confetti into my hand. What a lovely human.

A minute or two for a separate staff person to come help us, as another staffer was there in the shoe area. A couple of try ons (as my shoe size in Keens can be 11 or 11 1/2) and I was ready to go; however, my wife who initially did not look the look of the bubble toe on the Keens (for women or men) was finally talked into trying a pair of Keens on and walking around in the shop. Comfort for her, and thus a pair of Keens for her and, of course, one for me. My last Keens were bought here about 6 years ago, are still quite comfortable and not showing wear, but sometimes you just have to spend a dollar or two and get more comfort, right? Yep.

They had a good selection of winter hats, as well as base ball caps, shirts, sweatshirts, and so much more. They also sold a small selection of snacks and other souvenir items. The clerk working the counter was very friendly, and their pricing was extremely fair, especially for the quality of the hats we got. Instead of taking responsibility, they denied the situation entirely and claimed it never occurred, even after later evidence showed otherwise. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue professionally or offer an apology, they escalated it unnecessarily and refused to make things right. The lack of accountability and poor communication only made the situation worse. Overall, this was a very upsetting experience, and we would not recommend this place based on how they handle mistakes and treat customers.

The sweet cashier that signs you up for the equipment is amazing! Her whole family works here! The gift shop is cute and we ended up with some souvenirs that were also way cheaper than the resort! The equipment was all in good shape, no smells, helmets looked just about new! Overall, we would recommend many times over versus renting from the resort! They are open long hours for returning gear! They had fudge and BBQ there, but we never ended up trying it. Smelled good though.

There's an Old Navy, TJ Maxx (which, by the way, is NOT at the front of the store as the sign would mislead you to believe), Homegoods (i.e., Marshall's without the clothes), Belk, a Merle Norman outlet, Bath & Body Works, the Gamefather (a video game store), and some clothing stores. Also a standard pretzel/soda/cookie spot, too. A hair cuttery, a cafe, a nail salon... You definitely couldn't make a day out of shopping here, but could spend an hour or two or so. It's clean, and the restrooms are nice, too. I will save comments about individual stores for their own personal Yelp reviews. Overall, I wouldn't suggest this as a spot for out-of-town folks, unless you just want to be amazed simply the size of by a small town mall (aka, it's cute).
