Had a great day on the creeks catching rainbows and brownies with Kirby and Isaiah. They were very accommodating of our group of six with many first time fly-casters. Everyone caught fish and enjoyed some beautiful scenery. Boone's Fly shop was very friendly and communicative through the process. All gear was in good shape and we stayed dry during our trip. It was a great time Isaiah was my guide and he was awesome. I have NEVER fished before this time. My guide had a great deal of patience and a great teacher. I went for the 4 hour trip, one on one . We went to the River and then moved to a stream. We had success in both spots. I would definitely go back. If you want to learn how to fly fish it's great - I can see it would be cool to go again because my guide knew where the fish were ! read more

We did a half day wade trip with Corey in Nov-22 to celebrate our anniversary and had a blast! We ended up with a very rainy weekend in Blowing Rock, so figured fly fishing out be a good way to spend it, especially if we were going to be wet anyway. We booked fairly last minute, but the shop was very helpful. They generally need you to book at least a day in advance, since the trips start around 8am, and they don't want to surprise a guide with a newly booked afternoon trip while they're out on the water. The weather didn't bother them at all which was great news for us. They'll provide you with everything you need - quality waders, waterproof boots, poles, etc. You just need to bring yourself and whatever jacket / layers you want. The waders had waterproof pockets as well so phones didn't get wet. Corey was a fantastic guide - very friendly, patient and helpful. He had a genuine love for the job and it showed. He even met us early (7:30am) so we could get out ahead of any other guided groups. With all our rain, there was a lot of leaves / debris in the water, but he patiently helped us unhook them and took us to a ton of different spots in hopes of finding good fish populations. All tours are catch and release - it's nice to see them support conservation. Even though we didn't catch much, we had an awesome time on the water and hope to go out with them again! read more

I had a few minutes to spare while waiting for a table at a close by restaurant and popped in Boone's for a few minutes. This was a find place with tons of equipment, fly's and clothing. The staff was super professional and nice as well. Next time I'm in the area I hope I'll have more time to shop and do some fishing. read more

No polite or willing to help at all they look and talk to you like you're stupid or don't know how to fish. Do not spend your money here

We scheduled a 4 hour fly fishing trip with Nate and had the best time. He was very patient and engaging throughout our trip. Because trout fishing can be hit or miss, we had realistic expectations, but ended up catching 10+ fish during our time on the river. We would highly recommend! read more

I frequent this place, as I live downtown Boone. Boone's helps me gear up for all of my fly fishing adventures. To Reilly's point, it is an expensive hobby, but this shop has been more than fair with price-matching and great sales.
