I've visited the Continental Club several times, mostly for their special events, and it's always a…read morefun experience. The space is cozy with a great atmosphere, and they have a nice selection of drinks at the bar, beer, wine, cocktails and THC Drinks. The only downside is that it can get crowded pretty quickly and it is a walk no matter where you park. So be prepared if you're attending a popular event. This past weekend, I went for their Bastille Day celebration, and it was fantastic! They had delicious food from Breakfast in Paris, beautiful aerial performances, local art including caricatures, and live jazz music that made the whole evening feel festive and unique. It was a well-rounded event with something for everyone. You can tell this place is locally-owned and locals enjoy it. If you're looking for a local spot that hosts creative community events in addition to having a great bar, the Continental Club is definitely worth checking out. I mean the decor alone is worth the visit- disco balls, mannequins, comfy chairs. and local art. I already plan to attend more events there in the future!

I attended an opening for the new art display at the Continental Club Gallery recently. It was my…read morefirst time visiting this spot in Greensboro, and it was a fun time. Housed in part of an old mill, it makes for an incredibly unique space. The club is broken up into two spaces, a gallery and the bar. The bar is incredibly eclectic, with so much fun and interesting decor to look at. The bar also has a full bar, though the drink prices are on the higher side. The bar tender was very friendly and quick at getting drinks made. They also have a full size piano for music, and I'm told other performers will also bring their own instruments for events to have live music. The parking lot is a bit tight, and shared spots with the Back Table. So some may need to find street parking depending on the size of the event. They don't serve food and my only real complaint is about the lighting. They have a lot of red and blue lights, which may be apparent based on the photos, but when it comes to looking at art, it may be hard to see because of the distortion from the lighting.

It's a bit of a hike out to Fearrington, but worth it for the change of scenery. It's a popular…read morevenue for weddings, with it's open-air country side and grazing cows. There's not really too much in the way of shopping -- a nursery, a cute two-story store with accessories, a cafe, a bookstore -- but the atmosphere is really inviting. Fearrington has several venues for events, including the main house, the Barn (which sometimes even partners up with McIntyre's for open-to-the-public author events), and smaller meeting rooms. So in addition to weddings, it's a good place for corporate functions. Lots of neighborhoods in Fearrington, too. If it's in your price-range and you don't mind the commute, it's a beautiful place to live. There's even a lake with surrounding trails.

I looked through their whole website because the people who work at Fearrington put a lot of love and work into the place. I didn't get to dine anywhere, but they have a restaurant and I think a take&go place. I could spend HOURS in the bookstore. My niece and nephew got to hear a story on Halloween. THe place was covered in pumpkin carvings and turnip carvings hanging from trees! SO cute. If I ever plan on getting married, this would definitely be an ideal spot for a reception, and possibly a ceremony. I've read about the Barn, and it was featured in the Today show. This would be a dream spot for any bride, I would think. Can't wait to go back when they light up for the holidays!!
