We came here for the summer open house at this event space. There is plenty of parking outside of the venue. Due to the weather conditions we did not get a chance to view the outdoor space at the venue. The interior was spacious with multiple sectioned off rooms, bathrooms, and what appeared to be a coat check area. There were several tables setup in the main ballroom area. The tables were decorated nicely. There was also a table for desserts and a DJ area. The bar was huge with an extensive collection of alcohol. The food that was prepared by Rocky Top catering was amazing including the chicken dip and the shrimp and grits. I also enjoyed the cocktails. The strawberry basil margarita was really good. The service that we received from server, Michael C. was top tier. He was very personable, helpful, and made sure that we experienced the excellence of Rocky Top. I would definitely want him to work at any future events that we had. The event was great and I got to learn about other vendors that can be utilized when planning events. Outdoors ceremony and food fabulous!!! Event coordinator sucked!! tables not set up as diagram, bartenders refused to serve guests drinks I paid for because they weren't informed of what package we had contracted and paid for. They didn't give us the leftover food. read more

While 1705 Chophouse is not a walk-in restaurant, I've been here for a couple of events (wedding, Competition Dining) and it's always been an impressive showing! Great lawn out front, nice lounge and then a smallish but elegant dining room makes for a great events space! The food catered internally is well above average and service is spot-on. For the Competition Dining event I accidentally left my credit card in the bill-fold and they were nice enough to mail it back to me and save myself a ride. So yeah, not sure when I'll be at 1705 Chophouse next but it's a great location and excellent spot for a upscale event. This would be a great place for any event. We went for a Chef Competition Dinner and were very comfortable in the dining room and in the bar. Its a nice clean place to wander around when you aren't seated, and the Sound system was good. The service was also very good. read more

I have not been to this restaurant, but I'm looking to see if any of you have been. Also, I just emailed the general manager (found his email though the restaurant's website) and asked him about the prices. This was his response: "Most chophouses don't advertise their prices do to the fact that Prime meat prices will vary from time to time. Which in return well give a false price quote online. Our steak range from 29 to 55 dollars and they are all Prime meats. We also have several fish and other protein options. We also have one of the best wine lists in North Carolina and also a great smoke free lounge which we have some giant Martini's and a wonderful cheese chart served table side." I held my wedding reception here in April 2011. Our coordinator was Allison. I am just absolutely thrilled with the quality of our event. We had a 4 hour booking on a Saturday night. From the moment we arrived, the details were all covered. Allison had everything under control, not a thing went wrong. Before the event, Allison worked with our florist and baker to make sure all centerpieces were placed and that the cakes arrived on time. They offer an extensive menu for you to choose from, all quality choices. Our guests raved about the service, the food, and the atmosphere. We chose to have our event plated as I dont care for buffets. We also opted for the open bar. The first hour and a half of our event was cocktail. The bartenders kept the drinks rolling while servers circulated with hot appetizers. We then moved into the larger dining room. Servers quickly delivered dinner and all food arrived hot! We opted for the upgraded steak, it was to die for! everything was cooked appropriately. Our guests loved it! After our reception ended, Allison and her staff packed p or left over cake and helped to load gifts into the car. I definitely recommend holding your event at 1705 Prime! I can't speak for a regular dine in experience, because I haven't had that. We used them for our wedding reception. We picked them because everything was fantastic looking and they were super easy to negotiate with. They gave us what seemed like endless choices for our buffett. The staff was extremely attentive and knew how to serve without being in the way. They even packed up most of our leftovers and our leftover wedding cake to send home! I wouldn't change any of it one bit, except to use their suggested wedding cake baker, as I'm sure I would have gotten what I ordered from him. Worth EVERY cent. Not a warm inviting space. Nothing interesting to make it special. Unwelcoming staff and venue. Food was cold and unpleasant. Bathrooms were in disarray and unclean. I wouldn't recommend this place to a roach. They did have a bar which can be used for cocktail hour while the other room is being turned back into a dining room for dinner which left us waiting while the unexperienced staff tripped all over each other to make it work. Attended a wedding here for a friend's daughter. This used to be a restaurant and it still looked like a former restaurant dining room turned into wedding space which seemed off to me. Not a warm inviting space. No interesting architecture to make it special. They did have a bar which can be used for cocktail hour while the other room is being turned back into a dining room for dinner. read more

We chose 1705 Prime as our wedding venue because it had a classy look and feel, it was priced much more reasonably than other high end venues we had toured, alcohol was reasonably priced, and the food was delicious!!! Elizabeth Haman was wonderful to work with. She was very experienced and referred us to some excellent vendors. We were blown away by the level of service we received the day of our wedding. Rocky Top Hospitality hosted and catered our recent wedding in July at one of their beautiful locations 1705 East in Raleigh, NC. We chose Rocky Top Hospitality as the caterer because of their outstanding reputation to deliver 100% satisfaction and go above and beyond. This was based on our own and other trusted friends' previous experiences with them. Our wedding went perfectly and it was the most fun we have ever had. We chose 1705 East as the venue for both our ceremony and reception because of their amazing location, pristine grounds and facility, beautiful bar, flexibility to manage set up and break down, and gorgeous bridal suites upstairs. We chose various hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour and a buffet menu (there are so many unique options for food and drink by the way) and the food we had was better than or equal to restaurant quality. Choosing them was a great choice and I would compare it to being able to take your hands off the wheel while the car still drives. There was no stress when working with them from day one through the wedding day and I attribute that to them being 1) professionals and experts at their job and 2) their ability to seamlessly work with various other vendors (flowers, baker, DJ, planners, etc). The most special part about going with Rocky Top Hospitality is how their team of experts welcome you like you're part of their family. For that we have to thank Vicki Tong for going above and beyond from beginning to end. She is so accommodating and hospitable. Beautiful venue, EXCELLENT food but I would never ever work with manager Jenn Carlin again. She announced several times "it was not her job to help people." She told us all along we had till Sunday to get everything out after the wedding, then told us at the reception it had to be out that night. She yelled at our DJ several times, was rude to guests, and even told the pastor (who has done 250+ weddings) that he was wrong about the order of the service. She was extremely immature and emotional during the wedding day. We would have been better having a friend to coordinate the wedding instead of this "professional." Thankfully the rest of the staff stepped in and helped (and apologized over and over for her behavior) while she had her temper tantrums. I would ONLY use them again if Jenn was on vacation. read more
