I have been consistently coming to Master Eye Associates because I have been happy with my experience at the Brodie location. I checked in with the office staff and was told that they were in training so I would have to wait to check in so I waited in the lobby area. Check-in went smoothly and the staff informed me about my insurance options and the possibility of using medical versus vision benefits in case the doctor identified any medical issues during the exam. The staff took me into the front area where they took my blood pressure and had me do an initial reading from a Visual Acuity Chart (Digital Eye Chart) that shows letters or symbols at a distance to test how clearly I can see with each eye. Then took me to several machines including the Tonometer (Eye Pressure Test) that measures pressure inside the eye to screen for glaucoma. It involved a gentle puff of air or a small probe that lightly touches the eye. Then used the Retinal Camera to take photographs of the back of my eye, including the retina and optic nerve, to check for conditions like macular degeneration or diabetic eye disease. Then the OCT Scanner (Optical Coherence Tomography) a high-resolution scanner that creates detailed images of retinal layers and the optic nerve. It is often used to rule out glaucoma or retinal disease. Then a Peripheral Vision Test (Visual Field Analyzer) where you use a remote to press a button when you see lights appear in your side vision. This checks for blind spots or nerve issues. I was then taken into the exam room where the doctor came in to do my exam. He used the Phoropter device with many lenses that drops in front of my face during the eye chart test.to fine-tune my prescription by asking which view looks clearer. The Auto-refractor machine that estimates the glasses prescription by measuring how light changes as it enters my eyes. Then he used a Slit Lamp Microscope with a bright light to examine the front parts of my eye such as the cornea, iris, and lens. He was very thorough during my exam and followed up on all my past issues from previous visits. Check out was smoothly and I was able to pay my copay and they printed out a copy of my new eyeglasses prescription. Overall a smooth and stress free annual eye exam visit. read more

Loved the doctor but the people in check in and assisting were rude, and did not help with making payment or instructions clearer.

On Tuesday, January 13th, I went to get an eye exam for my glasses, and the next day I couldn't stand the pain in my eyes; they were watery and had discharge. The specialist has her dog there in the office. It was most likely caused by that, perhaps due to poor hygiene regarding the equipment used. read more

Dr Falco is perfection. My daughter lost her glasses in the lake, and we got in to see her right away. She made my daughter feel comfortable and was very thorough and patient. She knows her stuff, explains what's going in an easy to understand way with a touch of witty banter. Took the time to explain the latest advances in the field of corrective procedures down the road. Dr.Emily Simonek.OD Oh my goodness she is the best I was confused since there are two Emily eye docs . 1 She was great she explained what she was doing and did it in less than an hour . She was friendly and easy going. Very professional and after years of going to eye doctors I found one that does not say " one or two" she use three , Her staff was great very efficient and made us feel special . We had been putting it off for a while but decided we were there at the mall so why not. So if you need to get your eyes check go so see this beautiful young lady sure beats all the other eye doctors I have seen all these years. The front desk staff is a joke. They said they couldn't find my insurance policy... well of course they couldn't find it because they weren't even looking for it. I had to go up multiple times to ask them to search for my claim and after an hour they finally found it. There were about 5 people in the waiting room with the same problem. The rest of the staff was great. This would be a five star review if they could just hire competent front desk workers who actually did their job without being reminded multiple times. read more

Terrible experience with the front desk staff. I made an appointment online and answered all the questions asked there including giving my insurance info. When I went to the office at the time of my appointment, the front desk staff told me they didn't have any of the info I had filled online. I again gave them my insurance info and waited for more than 30 minutes. I then asked them how much longer I needed to wait before I see the doctor. They told me that they still hadn't verified my insurance info, so couldn't tell me how much longer I had to wait. At this point, I told them to cancel my appointment and that I will go somewhere else. read more

Office manager and other staff are discourteous and uneducated in basic customer service. I came in with severe eye pain and the tech insisted on using instrumentation that blows a puff of air in an ulcerated eye. Office manager lied telling me that a subsequent appointment could not be accommodated due to a full schedule. When I arrive 10 minutes later, I find the waiting room completely empty and office as quiet and empty as library on Super Bowl Sunday. read more

My husband put his glasses down on our concrete patio recently and then, forgetting they were there, stepped on them. Not only was one lens dangling by fishing wire, the metal frame was twisted in several places. We thought they were goners. I needed to have my own eyewear adjusted anyway, so I took them with me to Eyemasters to see if there was any hope of repairing them, expecting them to either laugh in my face or send them off to some (expensive) off-site repair shop. Instead, the woman helping me (Thalia M.) gave me this look like, "piece o' cake!" and proceeded to make adjustment after painstaking adjustment until they were back to their former shape. For freeeeeeeee. I was ASTOUNDED. Thank you, Thalia M. and Eyemasters, for saving us the $400 we expected to pay for a new pair of glasses so that we can spend that hard-earned money on a 4-year old's Disney-Princess-Tinkerbell-all-things-sparkly habit this Christmas! read more

I like my optometrist here, he's quick, nonchalant, and laid back. He explains a lot of jargon to me about my eyes and fills me in every step of the way. However, the 2 stars is given because I absolutely loathe the receptionist staff. The 2 times I've been there, all the staff is hefty, rude, and uninterested. I was the only patient there, it wasn't like she was busy. Whenever I asked her a question, she would answer hastily and in a condescending tone. My parents only have 1 copy of the insurance card so I took a picture of it and she laughed at me and goes "Um no". She looks up my information and prints it out and talks to me as if I am a child and tell me not to lose it "this time". I didn't lose it first of all, and on the insurance card itself it says "ONE I.D CARD SUPPLIED PER FAMILY" The socially lacking staff makes me want to switch optometrists. read more

This was hands-down the WORST eye doctor visit of my entire life, and now I'm actually glad I have the forum to share this with others. Where do I begin? Ok, so at first when I called to make an appointment on a Saturday morning I was pleased because they had room for me later that day. That is the only positive thing I can say. When I got there it was super crowded with tons of crying children and I had nowhere to sit in the waiting roomm but I guess that's not really their fault. When I went for my eye exam the lady did the picture thing that "estimates" your prescription. I know that these things are totally just a ballpark guess and they are supposed to be used so that the doctor can know where to start you off when he's trying to fine-tune the prescription. When I saw the doctor he came in, put the machine-thingy over my eyes with the estimated prescription, and asked if I could read one of the lower lines of letters on the wall. I said I could not. He made an adjustment and I said it was a little better, but I still couldn't read any of bottom two lines... He may have made one more adjustment, but I'm not sure. He told me I was finished and took me back to the lady to try on the trial lenses. I told them that they were uncomfortable and that it seemed that I couldn't see very well, but she was just like, "oh you just have to get used to them." I was a little concerned, but I was thinking....ok, I'll give them some time... I was a little concerned that they didn't take me in to the little room to check the fit of the contact lenses or see how many lines I could read...but I was trying to be easy-going. Then I went out front to pay and get my written prescriptions. Only then did I notice that my prescription was WAY off from my old one. It was 3 steps lower in one eye and 2 steps lower in the other eye AND the two eyes seemed switched (normally my right eye is worse than my left, but the doctor had it the other way around). So I asked to speak to the doctor again, and he assured me that it was the correct prescription and that I was maybe being "over-corrected" before. I realized that this might be a possibility and was willing to give it a try. So I paid (~$200) and left the store, but when I got into my car to drive home I realized that I couldn't see ANYTHING that I had been able to see on the drive over....the street signs were blurry and one of the contacts was so uncomfortable it was making me crazy! To try to make a long story short, I went back to the place and the doctor ended up totally berating me for not trusting his professional opinion. (mmmm..it's not about trust...I CAN'T SEE!) He then just kinda asked me what my old prescription was and I couldn't remember, so I called up 1-800-contacts and asked them. He told the lady to get me some trial lenses for that prescription (so I paid $200 for...?), but they didn't have one of the lenses and they just gave me something kind of similar. For some unknown reason he insisted on keeping the glasses prescription the same (way below my old prescription). Basically, when I left (they started getting rude toward the end) I threw away the prescriptions and resigned myself to the fact that I had just spent $200 on nothing. I ended up calling up my old optometrist and just getting him to send me my old prescription. I HATE this place! read more

I had an amazing visit here recently. Last week my eye started really hurting, and I saw a bump on my eye. I was really worried something was embedded in my eye. I was very happy when I called here and they took my insurance (health not eye for eye injuries). They were able to get me an appointment that day. Dr. Emily Jordan took a look at my eye and new instantly what was wrong with it. Apparently my eye had come in contact with some kind of allergen. She prescribed some eye drops for me. I went in a few days later for a free check-up. My eye was better but still not 100%. She gave me a weeks worth of free 1-day contacts so that I could get back to wearing my contacts and ditch my glasses. I will definitely come back here for my next eye exam. read more

Honestly too much to love here! Doctors and staff are absolutely wonderful, upbeat and great conversationalists. Always do walk in visits, and ALWAYS was seen 30 min or less. Appointments are a breeze and doesnt take anytime at all. Best part about it is, once I get my prescription, I can just walk 2 feet next door and get my lenses. Which all costs me the same as JUST an eye exam everywhere else I've been. 10/10 Definitely recommend! read more

I wear contacts and therefore hadn't bought a new pair of glasses in ages. So I moseyed on over here this past weekend to purchase some new spectacles. Despite the fact that they were crazy busy, one of the "Eye Care Specialists" acknowledged me and said that he would be with me as soon as he finished with his current customer. Cool enough. When he was eventually free to assist me, he was very professional and helpful, offering frame suggestions etc. He did push the up-selling thing when it came time to decide on lenses. But hey, that's his job. Just have a backbone, say no, and move on. That's what I did anyway. The gentleman who assisted me when I returned to pick up my glasses was also very pleasant and professional in getting my new frames to fit properly. In my experience at this location, I encountered only friendly, helpful staff. Oh yeah, and Eyemasters does have a rather extensive selection of frames. Eyemasters FTW! read more

Master Eye is lucky to have a great Dr seeing her patients. She's passionate about great customer service and tries to do the right thing when something in the front of the house goes South. I can only hope that the staff understands that when I'm coming into spend my money I don't want to be on the sharp end of your bad day. So, because Dr Evans reached out to me twice I'm convinced that after speaking to her that she gets it and will instill a sense of welcoming into her staff. I was in Austin last week for a wedding when I realized I had forgotten to pack my daily disposable contacts. I popped in to too see if they could help out and they provided me with enough sample contacts to get through the weekend. The customer service at their front desk was great. Dr. Jordan is personable, professional, and offered good explanations of the multiple eye tests that were given to me. It was a more thorough examination than I've had from optometrists in the past. I was relieved to learn my "build-up of eye pressure" wasn't glaucoma, but a result of corneal scar tissue from RK surgery 20 years ago. That scarring throws off the "puff test", which no optometrist explained before. At 67, I was also pleased to learn that cataracts aren't in my near future. Thanks, Doc... Didn't even get to the exam part because the experience beforehand was so terrible. The receptionist/nurses were terrible and not friendly at all. I specifically selfies on my paperwork that I did not want the $39 alternative to the dilation, but they tried to sneak it in anyways. If I hadn't stopped her to ask what it was, they would have charged me for something that I specifically did not consent to. Then after that they tell me that I'll have to pay $100 out of pocket for a contact lens exam. I have never paid more than $65. Even if this is normal it felt shady on top of them trying to sneak in the $39 right before hand. Plus the receptionists were so unfriendly that I had no desire to stay. read more

I've been taking my sister here for years to get new glasses. Each time we are always greeted and treated with great customer service. Sonia helps us out most of the time. We've gotten so used to her being so nice that we always look for her when we go. She is the sweetest and really spends the time to find the best pair of glasses while also keeping our budget in mind. My experience with these optometrists was fantastic. First, I should begin by explaining that the visit was not for my own eyes, but for my husband's. We had originally been customers of Dr.Wang in south Austin but we decided we'd go with Eye Masters this time. I called and was set up with an appointment that same day (very convenient!) We arrived a few minutes early and had no problem finding seating in the waiting area. It wasn't long before a very nice man came out looking for my husband. I was getting comfortable in my chair, expecting to wait for a long time while my hubby got his eyes examined but I was pleasantly surprised when the doctor shook my hand, introduced himself and invited me along. The people who preformed the exams made the process as easy as possible by explaining every step (Answering the "What?" and the "Why?" before we could even ask) but they did it with touch of friendliness that you don't expect to find in the middle of a packed shopping-mall. Not to mention the high-tech equipment that they utilize on site. In (my own) layman's terms, they scanned my husband's eyes and were able to show us the intense images in a matter of minutes on their computer screens. We left their office feeling like we'd made the right choice in optometrists. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

My family is about to leave on vacation, I realized I was almost completely out of my dailies, I called and received an appointment for the same day. The office is quaint but clean. The receptionist staff is a little "dry" and nice enough, but not warm and fuzzy. My exam went well. the office is equipped with high tech equipment, the same type of stuff I saw at my "expensive" eye doctor's office. Dr. Jordan came in to the room and she has the best bedside manner! She listens, is kind and interacts. The people here have zero customer service skills. In addition to that, front desk staff seems very incompetent, extreme lack of knowledge in regard to coordination of benefits and told me the wrong total for services. When I corrected her (and was right), she had an attitude. Very unprofessional. I couldn't even tell you the Dr.'s name because she didn't introduce herself or greet me, she said she was barely at this office and seemed rushed and irritated. First off--One star because for the 5 minutes I was with Dr. Jordan she was great. Now, for the rest of the one hour experience. The receptionists are sleazy. I spent 10-15 minutes asking clarifying questions about the language on their forms, the prices they were promoting, and insurance coverage. They seemed annoyed that I would even ask such questions (maybe if half your paperwork made sense this wouldn't be the case--don't write "insurance usually covers this procedure" and when I ask about it, say, "actually insurance generally doesn't cover this") and gave me misleading information/talked around the hidden costs. If someone is trying to get an idea of how much a visit is going to cost, don't be sleazy and not mention the extra fees you KNOW you're going to charge for a procedure that you claim to be a different price on paper. I will not be returning. I require a level of trust with any doctors office I visit because the greedy health care industry is already known for its sleaziness and I refuse to be treated with such little respect by being lied to and charged extra fees that could easily have been communicated beforehand. read more

Front desk staff are incompetent in billing procedures and generally unfriendly. The wait is long even if you have an appointment. Dr. Jordan was knowledgeable but the other doctor I saw left me feeling bad about normal aging processes of my eyes. I am going somewhere else. read more

A friend of mine recommended Master Eye Associates and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to get in for an appointment. The reception staff was wonderful and they got me in quickly. I was there on my lunch hour so time was of the essence. I was treated very well and professionally. When Dr. Jordan came in she was professional, friendly and thorough. She was also very fast and I was able to have my eyes thoroughly examined and get back to work, all within an hour.
