We had our first annual inspection of our crawl space encapsulation today. Our inspector, Leon Talley, was the very model of a knowledgeable and competent professional. He asked if we had any concerns which we noted several. He suggested that he complete the service on the dehumidifier and sump pumps then he would take care of adjustments to the support jacks. After mapping out the jacks in the crawl space he used a laser to check throughout the house. He then proceeded to adjust the jacks until we were completely happy with the results. My home is nearly 80 yrs. old. I had three estimates done for my crawl space mold, structure, foundation inspection. Nome of them knew I was getting other inspections. Master Services, Master Dry, All Things Basementy or whatever name they are going by now) was the only one that said I had a frighteningly serious mold issue. He said he won't even do a thorough inspection without a rebreather and suiting up. He even came back with pictures of "MY" crawlspace. I was terrified. He said it would cost around $26.000 to fix it (vapor barrier, humidifier, sand blasting the mold, a sump pump, proper drainage, etc.) The other two inspectors had no issue with mold. I saw pictures of my crawl space from them as well. Those pictures showed a totally different crawl space from the pictures Master Services showed me They found a moisture barrier would be helpful and maybe a humidifier if I was worried about future problems. I had Master Services take over for a former company that went under after having our crawlspace encapsulation done several years ago. They totally took "the bull by the horns" following the end of defunct company, and they've done an excellent job. Nobody likes dealing with home issues, but they've been on the case and totally honest with my wife and I since then. But more importantly, the tech they sent has pointed out issues around our house beyond the work done in our crawlspace. Several years ago the tech pointed out that our electrical incoming area was damaged, and this week it was pointed out that there was a water leak under the house and soffit damage that I'd never have noticed, but thanks to MS, I contacted our whole home water filtration company that our units were the issue, and today it was repaired. My mom passed away and my siblings and I decided to sell her house. The home inspector found some standing water in my crawlspace. I contacted five different companies and spoke with all of the sales representatives. Barry Jenkins and JJ came to my house, suited up in protective clothing and spent a while in my crawlspace even though it was blazing hot outside. These guys were very knowledgeable, professional, and super nice. They explained exactly what they thought needed to be done in order for the house to pass inspection. They adjusted the price of their original bid after I told them what the competition had offered. It was not the cheapest bid, but the fact that they did adjust it showed me that they really wanted the business. I signed the contract. The installation guys arrived on time and it was absolutely pouring rain outside. This did not deter them one bit. They put down plastic from the back of their truck on my driveway and carport to avoid tracking mud. They were very polite and worked hard to complete the job. They took what I had in the crawlspace out and put it back after completing the job. The work was professionally done and the crawlspace looked fantastic. If you want a foundation company who is unqualified and incompetent, and who overcharges, call Master Dry. I am very disappointed that I used master dry to level floors in the rear of my home, under the bedrooms and bathroom. From the start they installed smartjacks using a bad design, drawn by the salesman, who never worked under a house before. I was told by the salesman, that they would lift the rear of my house by placing jacks and beams under the drooping floors. That's not what happened at all. They placed three rows of jacks under the kitchen and living room and none under the rear of the house that needed lifting. Then they proceeded to raise the jacks. I watched and listened in horror to crunching and cracking sounds as the rear of my house dropped even more and damaged the walls. I had to yell to them under the house to STOP. My house could have broke in half. They never answered my question as to why they would put the jacks under the part of the house that was already level and not the part that was drooping down. They then offered to fix the problem they created, by adding another row of jacks under the problem area. We signed a written agreement. They installed another row of smartjacks and beams and began to raise and make adjustments, until the jacks ran out of thread. They made no further contact with me and I had already paid in full. They left the job unfinished. After considerable time passed, I called to complain and they said they would come back to complete the work of raising the rear portion of my home. The present state of my floors is a devastating result of poor workmanship. Hi/low spots in all of my rooms, that I didn't have before, bulging spots on the walls and floors and I was yelled at by the manager, who seemed to be getting frustrated with trying to fix their errors. We paid just under $15k for our sump pump system and foundation repair in our basement. Was told it is covered under warranty as long as we get the yearly maintenance for $125/year. Called to schedule it and was told I would now be paying just under $200. They can continue to go up anytime they please and if you don't pay whatever amount they decide for the yearly cost, your system won't be under their "lifetime" warranty. I explained we are having a tough time right now due to all going on - they didn't care. DO NOT recommend this company. read more

I had Basement Systems install a sump pump system in my basement in September 2010. Whenever it would rain, ground water would find its way in to my basement and pool up and cause mold and mildew. Josh from basement systems came out and answered all my questions thoroughly, and gave me the price for the job out of two other companies. The crew that came out was courteous and professional. It took them two days from start to finish and each day they stayed until about 10 pm. They were very thankful that I brought them dinner each night! It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. **Recently, I visited the Knoxville Home Show and stopped by the booth. After two years, Josh, the sales representative said, "Hi Mrs Riley! How's your basement?" I was blown away that he remembered who I was after 2 years! It made me feel very special and valued. read more

The final straw was when they would not stand behind a warrantied product they installed and we had to replace it at our own cost. They are only driven by money, not customer service. Master dry came out and did a quote for foundation repair. We decided to proceed. The repair was done by installing I beams along the foundation wall. The work was done very poorly. I have 34 pictures of separate mistakes. We pointed a few out to the on site installation manager, he said if it's a problem we will come back out. Completely ignoring my mother. The left loose bolts, installed the beams in the wrong places, busted floor joist, drilled thru electrical wire, installed the bottom of the I beams backwards according to installation manual for the steal company. They had to send a new crew and remove all 13 I beams, and electrician, patch the holes in the concrete from removing all the beams. It really was unbelievable. Pictures to follow. read more

Not sure what is going on with Master Dry's customer service. When I don't need them, they repeatedly call my cell to schedule "maintenance visits", but when I myself call the office to schedule a maintenance visit, they leave me on hold and no one picks up my call. When they put you on hold, you have to listen to a L-O-N-G, disingenuous message about their "integrity" and values; then, when no one picks up your call because they are "serving other customers," you get to select numbered options for the help you need, presumably to leave a message so they can get back to you. Each time I called, I got put on hold, so I selected the option I needed (#3, for a service visit); instantly, the system just dropped my call. No one, especially a current customer, should have to endure this kind of stuff. How about living up to your "reputation" claims, Master Dry? read more

Had them come out for a free estimate. Very glad it was free because their estimate was $30,000. Good The inspector was very thorough. Took 3 hours and found a water issue I was unaware of. Bad First thing the inspector asked when he arrived was what our budget was. He then said they offer financing. Red flags were going off. Anyway, he spent three hours at the house and wound up telling us we needed something like a french drain inside the basement. This would require tearing up the basement wall. He also recommended basically a sump pump be put in the under crawl because there was "standing water." Oh - and some sort of fungus was under there that he couldn't tell if it was hazardous. Top that off with foundation problems that needed fixing. Well...I went in the under crawl, found an old humidifier that still had a water line running to it, but the cord was unplugged. Water was still running to the humidifier and overflowing. It had been doing this - I imagine - for years. I turned the water off. Basement wall problem fixed. Cost: $0 Kept moving in the basement to find standing water. Found just a little moisture that was so little it was mud and not water. There was no way there was enough water to even turn a sump pump on. Didn't see any mold. Got a second opinion. This fella finds water and its source: a leaking trap from the washing machine. He recommended a couple plumbers and suggested we put down new plastic as well. Also said the mold we have is in just about every house, isn't dangerous, but should probably be bleached out. Will wind up costing...I don't know: Maybe $500 max? And the foundation? Well, we're doing nothing there. Finally They're very thorough, but while they're good at seeing problems, they did not impress with their ability to see the cause. Should there have been a genuine need for any of their services, I'm sure they would have done a great job, as they would have used the same care in their services as their free inspection. And with a lifetime warranty, it's hard to go wrong. At this moment, however, I do not require their services. read more

Please be careful when you sign a contract. You only have three days to cancel. I was required to pay an almost $2,000 dollar deposit at the time of canceling the contract. A few months later before any work was done whatsoever, I had financial reasons that required me to cancel the work. Master Dry is keeping my almost $2,000 dollar deposit for a year. No work was done on my house. I had a sale rep come to my house, give me an estimate, and have me sign a contract for work and pay an almost $2,000 deposit in March. Now in June, I'm canceling the work and they are refusing to refund me the deposit I paid until a year has passed. This is wrong as no work was done. read more

I would be no starts if able. incompetence in estimate and bait and switch practices We had Masters do an estimate on 5/5/18 and when we got the amount and paid deposit, a date of 6/5-6/6-18 was scheduled for basement repair. When the company showed up at house they all of a sudden realized that they were not able to do the job and we needed to get a structural engineer to figure out how to do the job. We not only waited 6 weeks for them to come and do job, which delayed other repairs, they did a bait and switch on us and advised us more money would be required to do repair as their incompetence and ignorance was unable to do an adequate estimate. I also think that they did not want to do the job for price given and maybe thought work was tougher than they thought. This company costed me money and time and I would like to prevent this from happening to others. It has been weeks since the job was suppose to be done and all I asked for is that they overnight deposit check, but we have yet to receive the deposit check. They got the interest on our money for the 6 weeks we waited for job to be done and also the 3 weeks and counting after, as they have not returned deposit. It is very discouraging and frustrating to give your trust to a company that takes advantage of a customer that needs major construction to house as the foundation is a huge part of structural integrity of home. We bought this home knowing it needed foundation work, but did not know this company would take advantage of that. I am hoping this will discourage others from using this company as their ethics are very questionable. Calls were made to Masters on 7/13/18, where I talked to customer service, Mr. Blakenship, and Mr. Carter who were all asked to please overnight deposit check. I also returned the General manager Jeff, left message and had to call again as did not get a call back. I got hung up on by employee today 7/24/18 when asking for check to be overnighted. I was upset as have still not gotten our money back, but I guess they don't want to hear complaints they just want to take peoples money. read more

Master Dry is very disappointing!! I would not recommend them! We received a quote from them in March 2016. Jonathan was very professional, answered all our questions, and had a very reasonable price. After our visit, we decided to sign a contract with them. They scheduled us for the week of May 23, 2016. That week that we were scheduled, we called them because we hadn't heard from them. We were told that our project was being delayed a week due to rain. We called them the following week and were told that we were being pushed out another week because of it being a holiday week. Now we are 2 weeks behind and we have to call them multiple times at the beginning of week 3 of being delayed and finally get a return call. They tell us that our concrete project "is no longer in their scope" so they wouldn't be doing the work for us. We waited for 3 months for them to decide they were not going to do the work. Cancelling a project that you have already agreed to do and have signed a contract is extremely unprofessional, considering there were no issues with us willing to pay and being available for them to start the project!! read more
