NOT TRUSTWORTHY. "Avoid This Shop for Safety Checks!" Took my Lancer to Master Mechanic for a safety check, and it was an absolute nightmare. Halfway through, they called to tell me they couldn't find my wheel lock key and said they'd only charge me an hour's labor because they cannot complete the safety che k without it. I told them the wheel lock key was in the glove box, but they refused to check. I ended up paying $120 for an hour of labor and now they expect me to return and pay $169 again for the safety check. All because they didn't bother looking where I told them the key was and saw a young kid they could scam another 120$ from. This isn't the first time either. They pulled a similar stunt with my Mustang last summer and I ended up having it scrapped. when they were called on it. There was "nothing they could do" Lesson learned. I'll be taking my vehicles to Fitzsimmons from now on. Don't waste your time or money here. Absolutely would not recommend! 0 stars if possible. read more

Meh service, awful work. Ive never dropped off my car at a mechanic's and had it run worse than when I dropped it off. I went here off of reviews to have two front break pads installed. I was charged $183.63 for "Front break pads only" I get my car, and it doesn't roll in drive or reverse I have to press my gas and completely slows while driving or turning, I call and have a discussion with Jesse, apparently because I supplied the parts there was nothing he could do. I take my car back and am charged another $28.25 for a "break inspection" told that my rear callipers are seized and the break pads for my car are faulty for my vehicle. So in the end of my experience I spent from 9:30 am to 4pm to pay $211.88 to have my car run worse than when I dropped it off and than told why. read more

I came into Master Mechanic to drop off my car to get a diagnostic done as it needed attention asap and I could not drive to my hometown car shop where I usually take it. I asked the guy at the front desk how much a diagnostic would be and how much their hourly labour rate is. He informed me it would be 110$ plus tax to run the diagnostic which I found weird as to why a 30 min. diagnostic would cost that much (assuming it would be 220$ for their hourly labour rate). After I dropped the car off, I got my boyfriend to call in and ask how much it would be for a diagnostic and their hourly labour rate. The master mechanic employee then proceeded to inform him that it would be 50$ for a diagnostic and 109$ for their hourly labour rate. I dropped my car off at 12pm and did not receive a call about any updates on my car so I decided to call them at 4:30 (an hour and a half before they close) and they told me I needed three different repairs done to my car and how one of the parts (throttle body) would be 500-600$ (meanwhile the part costs 380$). They kept my car overnight and I picked it up this morning. When I came to pick up the car this morning around 9am, I asked if anyone had drove my car because it had been unlocked and he said that no. So my car was unlocked all night on Lansdowne street (if you live in peterborough, you know this is a bad street to leave your car unlocked especially all night!!!). Just absolutely unacceptable. I even specifically told the guy if they were to keep my car overnight to make sure it is locked. If you're a young women, I would not go here because these guys will take complete advantage and price gouge the shit out of you. When I voiced my concerns to the guy at the front desk about this price gouging - he took no responsibility, never apologized, nor took any accountability and tried acting like I was crazy for even mentioning it. Tried to hush me up saying I didn't have to pay for diagnostic that they did. That to me screams shady and guilty. My experience with this shop was terrible. I did not feel heard (didn't know asking to lock my car and not price gouge was too much to ask for but clearly it is) and my car is still not fixed! waste of time and disgusting behaviour. I took my car to Master Mechanic to have a look where an oil leak was coming from, turns out it was a worn gasket. Which cost barely anything to replaced. A mom and pop mechanic shop down the road give me a quote for $1,000 to fix it. It's hard to find trustworthy mechanic these days. As a realtor I'm always on the road and I need a reliable vehicle, That's why I feel extremely comfortable taking my car to Master Mechanic. The staff is highly knowledgeable and very professional. These guys were great, was visiting Peterborough and knew I needed to get a very noisy 'clunky rattle' in my VW looked at, waited maybe five minutes, I had no appointment and my vehicle was given a review, a test drive, and the source of the rattle found. No expectation for me to book an appointment right there and then, reassured me that it was still safe to drive, and what to ask when I took the vehicle into my mechanic at home. Highly recommend.
