I have had two terrible experiences in a row with Sunset Kia of Venice Service Department. The…read morefirst experience they improperly replaced the oil plug in my vehicle resulting in oil spilled all over my garage. The most recent was a complete mis-diagnosis of a check engine light issue, where they wanted to charge me $2,400 for repairs that as it turns out would not have even addressed the main issue. The smallest of which is recommended replacement of a perfectly good battery for $448.20 before they could even fully diagnose the issue. The only valid charge would have been for a coolant flush. I had to reach out multiple times to get an update and ended up taking 3 days to get a bad result. They either did not know what they were doing or were consciously trying to overcharge me. An independent repair shop diagnosed the issue correctly and saved me considerable $$.

After I left his shop I called around and the service I received from him would have cost me triple if I had taken it anywhere else.

Beginning to end, I had an excellent experience. There was damage to my vehicle by a loved one,…read morethat I wasn't pursuing through insurance. It wasn't major, and didn't want the claim on my insurance. The estimate was a third of what another body shop not far from A-1 had quoted. Jim had my vehicle for two days, compared to the eight days required by said nearby competitor. Jim was personable, explained what he'd be doing to fix the issue, and provided a very reasonable estimate. Apprehensive at first, because as a consumer, in my mind, I assumed the work would be subpar at that price. But Jim was honest about the work, and the reason it would cost more at other body shops (When you go to him for a repair not covered by insurance, he'll tell you why). The finished work was beautiful....and on time, as promised!. No hidden costs or unexpected delays. My summation: Jim is an honest, professional, and personable businessman. Jim stopped what he was doing to come out and talk to us and look at the car. The "extra" piece of car we brought with us (thinking it fell off at the accident scene) he told us was not from our car. The hood that I could not open, he opened, adjusted and said it was just fine (another shop said it "could" cost $700 to fix the hood) After spending 15 minutes with us Jim told us not to worry about the basic plastic (we could try to snap it in or just take it off) and that the car was just fine to drive.
