But the store also carries a line of kitschy magic items and gag gifts (think: fart-flavored chewing gum) that will amuse the kid in all of us. By far, the coolest things I saw in the last couple of visits were the real, live, tiny frogs for sale on the front counter. Maybe the size of a grape, these amphibians were lively, cute and fascinating to watch. If our kids were older and were past the point where they might consider them a tasty snack, I would've bought them right away ... but I'm not sure if the frogs would be for me, or for them. So I was quite excited when I found a park right across the street. The layout was simple and quickly found the correct department. Some of the items were not on the shelf so I requested some help. That's when everything went down hill. As I waited for the employee to get the items from the stockroom, I encountered the locals. I know the neighborhood had changed but having rude school-aged kids and their parents invade my personal space as if the pandemic and I were non-existent was too much. Having a nasty father attempt to verbally attack me for moving back from their rude intrusions in a narrow space without so much as a word, completely disgusted me. By the reaction of the employees behind the counter, you know these kind of guys treat them the same way. I will go all the way to Manhattan to pick up items before I come back to deal with entitled jerks who have invaded the neighborhood.
