STAY AWAY--SHODDY, INCOMPLETE WORK AT PREMIUM PRICES! House still holding moisture 30 days after completion, and NO accountability. The disaster after the disaster. After Hurricane Helene hit and flooded our home, my wife and I were in need of pro remediation fast. To their credit, Master Restoration was the first to call us back. Having gotten their name on recommendation, seeing their positive reviews, and verifying they were licensed and insured, we decided to hire them. Although their price was extremely high compared to competitors, we believed we would be getting thorough, premium service by a respected, established local company. How wrong we were. Right out of the gate, we were blindsided by their refusal to remove our glued-down engineered wood flooring. Apparently they only include easy-to-remove laminates and floating tile. No price adjustment to their flat rate was offered as compensation, leaving us to seek out another vendor for that, at additional expense. Once the contract was signed, we also discovered our main contact wouldn't return calls or texts unless prompted by his superiors, forcing us to repeatedly contact the main office to inquire about the schedule and project status. On two occasions, he did assure me that permits for the work were being secured through the city on our behalf. Next, we realized each phase of the project was apparently being farmed-out to unknown subcontractors, who performed substandard work without adequate supervision or any follow-up inspections by the company. They would show-up at our home without notice, forcing us to reschedule them at more appropriate times. No HEPA air scrubber was used during the process. They did the four-foot drywall cutout, but we later noticed some insulation was still left in place, as well as inconsistency with door and window frame removal. Kitchen cabinetry wasn't handled properly, with floor-to-ceiling sections cut in half, rather than removed at the crown. The plumber they hired didn't even have a part to cap the water line when disconnecting the fridge! The so-called "sanitization" phase would be laughable if it weren't so abysmal. Instead of checking to make sure the house water main was turned on, the team attempted to use a dribble of water from an open interior pipe to mop the floors. When that failed, they asked me if they could use the black contaminated water from our storm-damaged swimming pool! I refused, of course, and then they finally checked the water main and turned it on. Even with fresh water, the clean-up was nothing more than pushing a dirty mop around without any cleansers, resulting in cloudy, soiled floors still caked with drywall dust. Then came the "dry-out" phase--shamefully lacking in industry-standard protocol. One dehumidifier was brought in to cover 2500 sq ft, along with a handful of air movers. They were left in-place for five days, which we were led to believe would be more than adequate. Apparently not. When the team returned, they appeared to take a couple of moisture readings, which seemed to be below the 15% mark, as required. I watched as one team member fumbled with a moisture meter, pushing buttons until the reading looked good. I have since learned he may have been "fooling the meter", by choosing hardwood mode instead of the appropriate soft wood mode for the beams. Thirty days out, readings reveal the moisture is still far from gone, remaining saturated between 28-36% in certain places, leaving us at risk. Lastly, we were promised by contract a complete post-remediation report with photos to be furnished to FEMA and our insurance carrier. To date, we have not received the report, and Master Restoration has failed to respond to our queries about its status, as well as the status of the city permits or the PRV mold report required per their license. Now we are faced with the unpleasant prospect of paying EVEN MORE MONEY to another, more reputable company to complete the work. Do yourself a favor, and PASS ON MASTER RESTORATION! read more

Master Restoration price gouged us when we were most vulnerable after Hurricane Helene. We paid twice as much as all of our neighbors and we needed far less work done since we didn't remove the kitchen, flooring and cabinets in the master bath. Essentially all they removed was one vanity, some doors, and 2 feet of sheetrock around the house. The work was shoddy, unsupervised, and they scratched and gouged our wood floors that we wanted to keep because they were not affected by the flood. They also didn't clean or sanitize the garage, didn't remove one of the interior doors and didn't remove the laundry room vanity despite our pointing this out several times. They were supposed to dispose of our debris and didn't do that either. Our neighbors paid $11,000-$16,000 ($16,000 for a much bigger house) to have everything removed (kitchens, multiple vanities, wood flooring and 4 feet of sheetrock.) We were charged $32,200 but after arguing with them was finally given a reduction to $28,200, still an unfair price. We absolutely do not recommend this company! read more

These guys are awesome. I had a water heater blow up one night and the hard wood floors in the adjacent hallway were under an inch of water. Brian Herron was there in a couple of hours and guided us on what to do until his crew arrived. Mat and Josh soon arrived with plastic and dryers. They were able to get rid of the visible water and dry what was in and under the wood floor. It was remarkable how well the floors dried and looked when they were finished. I fully expected to have to replace the floors. That would have cost me thousands of dollars. Instead they soon looked like nothing had ever happened. I am still grateful to Brian and his team for saving our wood floors. They were amazing. Highly recommend by me. read more

Horrible experience. What you don't know can hurt you. My AC leaked and soaked a bedroom carpet. I couldn't get hold of AC company over weekend so I found them online. Before I knew it they were ripping out carpet molding in multiple rooms. it was a complete mess. They kept saying don't worry it will be an insurance claim. They brought in 9 large blowers to dry it, but AC was still leaking. I kept saying you can't dry an active leak. AC company came Monday fixed AC. I called my insurance company, and they said we know all about Master Restoration. Insurance company said don't run claim your insurance will go up. They stopped by to check on it and said leave the dryers longer. I finally turned them all off, but could not get MR to pick up dryers for a week. Running up the tab. Later I told them it's not an insurance claim to their surpris, and they gave me a large bill. I replaced the carpet, hired someone to fix 3 rooms of destroyed molding. Then AC leaked again. This time I am an educated consumer. You can rent the large blow dryers at Home Depot for $25 a day. 2 of them dryed it, and carpet did not have to be removed. Literally the worst company in existence. Used them two years ago for a mold/shower pan issue in palm harbor. The end results are good, but the project two 3 times as long (costing us thousands) as we were told and our GC left the company with zero information to us as the homeowners from masters. To make matters worse they never closed our permit and now as I try to sell the house, they're treating me like TRASH and have refused to comply (though the work is done just not finalized with the city) now potentially costing me the sale of the house. I would email, call, text , and STILL the project manager would not respond. It came within 4 days of the project start and still had not heard from anyone. Then a new project manager called and said they were NOT going to do the job. I had already booked a hotel for $5000 for the 2 months they were going to be doing the work, packed up my stuff, and had rented a pod for storage. STAY away from this company. Master Restoration was referred to me for mitigation services after Hurricane Michael caused massive amounts of damage to Panama City, FL as a "preferred vendor" of my insurance company. Master Restoration did not live up to their promises regarding communication or the service they would provide. Their office would not respond to routine questions asking for status updates. They did not communicate with the property's residents regarding scheduled access that created multiple complaints from our residents. After weeks of no responses I finally received an e-mail stating that everything had been completed. Additionally, they emailed over a Job Completion and Satisfaction form and asked that I sign it and return so they could provide to my insurance company. In no way was the form correct. I declined to sign the form and communicate this decision. I could not believe that after weeks of no response or communication from this company that they would send a form that stated I was happy with their work and all of my questions had been answered. How can my questions be answered when they are ignored? What Master Restoration fails in communication they also are equally bad in their job performance. Upon inspecting their "completely finished job" within one minute in the first unit i walked I found a mold growing on the ceiling of a kitchen light fixtures that still had standing water in it over two months after Michael's landfall. These shortcomings continued into the other units that by their standard was "completely finished" we still have moisture levels in excess of 40% in drywall and wet insulation remaining in the units. This company and its representative are definitely not masters of restoration or professionals in the slightest bit. I regret ever allowing this group to step foot into my property. After our AC unit malfunctioned and leaking water got under our flooring causing damage to 4 rooms and our pantry, we immediately called our insurance company to report this. Master Restoration was recommended by our insurance and upon calling them they were at our house within an hour. Lifting the flooring revealed more damage then we imagined but they tore out the wet flooring, wet carpet in our bedroom and baseboard. Holes were made at the base of the drywall so air could get in to dry the walls. In no time flat they had done all this, installed 7 fans and 3 huge dehumidifiers. And so we lived with the racket of these devices for 5 days hoping the walls would dry so drywall would not need to be pulled. It worked. Here is where they lose one star. It took 3 months before any repair started (we hired them for repairs because 1) They did such a great job with the mitigation, and 2) We didn't know anyone else to hire. Calls to them went unanswered, especially to their estimator, Jessica who needed to come out to estimate the damages and settle the amount with our insurance company. If you have this type of issue and think all will be solved for you without your intervening, you are naive. Once this process was over, insurance settled the claim, then work with the project manager started. Rob came out to look at the job, was honest and said it would be a few weeks before they could start work. The workers we had were fantastic. Rob contracted a flooring company to install the flooring and carpeting. Awesome job! The guys from MR came out to do the finish work which included all the painting, plugging the holes in the walls, adding baseboard caulking and painting them and even painted all our doors. Jeremy and David ROCK! Yup, had to have them back a couple times for minor painting misses, but never a complaint and work was completed. We are extremely happy with the job Master Restoration did. Both mitigation and repair and we would not think twice about hiring them again. read more

During this vulnerable time, our home received water damage from two different days of rain. These guys came in and took a negative situation and turned it into a positive for our family. It took over a year to restore a shower and paint a tiny bathroom. Without permission (and it was NOT on the work order), they removed & destroyed my vanity & medicine cabinet (because they didn't feel like painting them, which WAS on the work order), and attempted to replace with really cheap crappy ones. I had to pay money to get better ones to replace them. They broke my shower faucet & replaced it with a cheap knockoff that didn't even match the valve. I had to insist they replace it. They got paint all over the floor, doorjamb, window sills, light fixtures, etc. I had to insist the come back and remove it. They lied to me on at least 2 occasions. And again, it took OVER A YEAR. Wish we had better things to say but the experience was less than par. Our bedroom had a flood after water came in from a window, destroying the floors, drywall, etc. We had dryers in our home for days for the air as well as the floors. Was told they do NOT do leak detection yet the bill showed a charge of $250 for it. What is worse is that they DID NOT find the leak, we did! WE used a hose and found how the water got it. After getting the go from our insurance company we decided not to use their way over priced contractor for repairs and just got MR bill. It was insane. They were way over billing our insurance company. Charging for several days of dryers that didn't happen, the $250 leak detection they didn't do. When we contacted Jared about it he said they bill differently to insurance. Um, that is illegal. You can only bill for what was done. After a week of hounding we got a corrected bill to send to insurance. They refused to pay the leak detection fee too and we got a nasty bill from MS for it. Did not pay it of course and our insurance tried to deal with MS but they would not budge on the fee. Wont recommend or give business to unethical companies. read more
