Nice italian pizza place in Albert Cuyp where you can sit in, outside if you're lucky or take it to go. They have a few pizza options, I recommend Tropea's Queen, very good with the only mention: their pizza's cakedough is a bit to thick. But the order comes very fast so it's very handy when you're hungry and you don't know what to choose. There is also a breakfast option and a very good tiramisu. Great! I normally wait until I've been a few times to a place before I write a review but as it has been a year since I was last in an establishment in this neighbourhood I should probably not wait for the second coming. Having said that I got to try two pizzas this evening so it is somewhat like a second visit. Choosing two pizzas was not as easy as it should be. The first choice was Flower Power. Where else would you get a pizza (or any dish) containg courgette flowers? In France or Italy, yes, but we're talking about Amsterdam. Rare things here those courgettte flowers and it is worth coming here just to try this pizza. The second pizza was more difficult. I'm a sucker for N'Djua but comprised and went for the Calbrese (artichoke) pizza. Both pizzas were excellent. I'd say they were ever so slightly smaller than their competitors' (Da Portare Via, Perla, Pazzi) but not too small. There was no feeling of haven eaten too much afterwards. The people who work here are Italian. You are greated with "Ciao!" instead of "Daaag!" They serve proper Italian pizza, made with ingredients you'd expect to find in an Italian kitchen. They serve tiny expresso, Italian soft drinks and have some Italian craft beers (forget Peroni and Moretti - try these or visit Hoppy Days). And, most surprisingly, beers from Amsterdam micro-brewery Butcher's Tears. The combination, the choice, the service, the quality make this place very special. read more

Really cozy place with incredible pizza! I had the vegan veggie pizza and my friend had a pizza parma. The awesome and friendly Italian men make the pizza directly in front of your eyes. So we could watch their dough tossing skills and see them prepare the high quality ingredients. The prices are maybe a little higher than average (10-16€), but this is well justified through the ingredients, taste, and charm of this place. Definitely something you should go to if you have the chance - so you can try the soft and fluffy dough yourself. read more

I loveeee this new pizza place in the Pijp! It is tiny, cute and has a very urban vibe with brick walls. It reminds me of New York, though I've never been there haha. But it's like in the movies. Its owned by superfriendly italian people and the lady behind the counter is sooo sweet and friendly. The pizzas are baked in this traditional oven and are very delicious. But now the best thing....VEGAN PIZZAS! YES! Not vegan as in: without cheese... no this is the real deal. Pizzas with vegan cheese hell yes! And it is delicious! To make it even better; there are awesome vegan desserts as well. There are also yummy sodas, beers and wines. I love that a traditional italian style place meets modern and hipster and also serves vegan food. So 2015. I will definately be back a lot! read more

This was the first "official" vegan pizza i tried with vegan cheese. And i have to say...it was AMAZING! I was with two other friends who are meat eaters. Each of them had a bit of my pizza and they both LOVED IT! Both of them are new to vegan food etc. I honestly would recommend this place to others. The food was delicious and the people working there were very nice. The only thing i would love justttttttt a tinyyy bit different is the crust. It's delicious don't get me wrong but i was a bit too soft which makes it harder to bit into it without the toppings falling off. But it was still very tasty. Again... i would RECOMMEND! read more

I like the concept. Good quality ingredients and simple pizzas - it's great. there's no plates or proper cutlery, and pizzas are served in the card boxes. Thin dough and amazing cheese, you can really taste the difference. Also tried a chocolate dessert, super nice. The staff is nice, but the place is a bit small. If you're not going for take away, you might as well book a table. read more

Really excellent pizza at Mastino and great service from the pure Italian lady behind the counter! She made my friend and I feel like home away from home. We had the vegetarian pizza and the special and finished them both! Also they have Gingerella there, a yummy ginger soda I had never head of before so be sure to try it! read more

One of the best pizza me and my girlfriend have ever experienced...I personally ordered a vegan, which very rarely impresses me at the restaurant, but this was IN CRE DI BI LE! Even when compared to italian pizza in Italy! Only ONE IMPORTANT INSIGHT about the service: the wine glasses are made of paper, the pizza is served in carton boxes (as it was for take-away), and tiramisu was in a plastic container....very disappointing considering the quality of the culinary work, and the image the restaurant tries to give as more environmentally open...something I hope will change in the future...less trash is good guys! :) read more

Wow, Pizza from Sicily! Loved the Calprese pizza: Tomato, Mozerella, artichokes, schiacciata (southern Italian sausage), black olives and basil, on a spelt crust....Yum! Perfectly cooked and presented with a flourish. The rubarb soda is wondreful too. read more

Went here because of the Vegan Amsterdam page. The locale is cool, but very small, and not as restaurant-like as we would prefer for the evening (we even tried calling beforehand to book a table). Foodora and deliveroo bikers are constantly dropping by to pick up orders which makes the place a little less fancy. The vegan pizza is sooo tasty and their selection of artisanal beers is great. This place has a great potential for being turned into a larger, more restaurant-like pizzaria. The price level is a tad bit too high I would say. read more

Fantastic pizza - went here on a Wednesday night - they very kindly got us in (they make a limited number of pizzas per evening). The young lady at the front counter was super accommodating, and instantly made us feel welcome. We had a Marinara pizza, and a veggie one. Both were superb, as were the Mongozo gluten-free beers we had (a blonde and a white). Very highly recommended! read more

I can't speak for the original Mastino place- this review is about Mastino V (their sister restaurant, owned by the same woman) which doesn't have a yelp. Where do I begin. The service was worse than a chimpanzee trying to understand Latin. I know that's harsh but that's how we felt- completely disrespectful and definitely didn't like us because we were american. The owner/manager served us and took 20 mins in between each visit, not to attend to other tables, but to go on her phone and talk to other co workers. She charged us 4.50 for a side of bread after telling us she didn't have any, but then miraculously brings us bread. The pizza was actually tasty, which is how this place managed to get an extra star from me. The cheese plate was to die for. But the service- definitely the worst service you'll encounter.
