The combination of these factors made us go here. The place is nicely decorated, great for a multitude of reasons. Good wifi available, good beers both bottled and draft, and god yes those pizza's. De-lish. They were very nicely done and even though it's called Gierige Maandag, they definitely were not Gierig with the toppings. Great mozzarella, lovely crust, not too much cheese (god I hate too much cheese), very nicely balanced flavors. We switched halfway through our pizza's and I can confirm that both were amazing. They have a number of specials depending on the day, so I'd recommend trying out a few of these days. But the pizza they serve are what hooked me and I'm sure it'll get you hooked, too. Reservations are often booked up for a year so our best bet was either take-out or walk-in. I don't think take-out is available every day of the week so be sure to check before heading out! When we visited, the wait for walk-in was over an hour and there was no way we were going to do that. Take-out is actually its own building and entrance right next to the restaurant. They don't have the full menu as the sit-down side but you can get your pizzas so much faster. They even acknowledge the fact that people will eat in front of the store so they'll provide plates instead of the pizza boxes to save on waste. They'll also have scissors to help cut your pizzas into shareable portions. Each pizza is large enough for a single person but it's better to do family-style and order a bunch of different types to try more. Their style of pizza has a bit of a larger crust and I ended up not finishing those. I tried the Oyster Mushroom, which was my favorite with the mushroom and garlic flavors. The second one was the Salsiccia and Patate (I think?) and was our meat pizza. I couldn't really understand the cashier but they were out of something so the pizza I got wouldn't have been the complete thing. I'm not sure what was missing but overall, a tasty pizza too. If you can get a reservation, I highly recommend dining in to try more things. But if your wait is over 30-45 minutes, just do take-out because I don't think it's worth the wait.

The cafe recently opened near the Hoofddorplein and is already getting very popular with the locals. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. First of all, the service/the owner was up his game in a very attentive and polite way, at the same time very laid back chill kinda way. Love that about a place as much as I love my good cappuccino. We ordered one cappuccino and one latte, 2 sweets: pear chocolate cake and fruit passion pastry. The cappuccino is really good, so they have my blessing from now on. Also the sweets were good, I didn't enjoyed that much my pear chocolate cake and I went and took another fruit passion pastry and the guy was sorry I didn't like it, so nice :) And this is one big coffee place, very chill sfeer, not your usual small crowded hipster coffee place. And it's pretty close from Vondel Park :) You will be seeing more of me and my friends there, I always take my friends in the places I love.
