Zero Givens Whittier - My husband & I after our 5 am workout.

I've been a member for years and cannot sing Coach Juden's praises enough! Since day one, I could…read moretell the care she puts into this community while also being a role model. The classes are never boring, challenge you, and the teachers hold you accountable, all in their own way. I've been getting 1:1 sessions with Juden as well and it's helped my confidence (let's be real, a lifelong project) and form. I never thought I could lift the way I do at Zero Givens. We're all met where we're at and there's always something new going on. This old timer won't be stopping anytime soon.

The 5 am workout class works best with my work schedule but I love the flexibility this gym provides by giving me access to the rest the of the gym while the next workout class starts up. At 56 years old, I wanted to avoid injury & additional aches & pains to my joints (which were brought on by running Marathons). I made it a priority to focus on body form & flexibility. At 5 or 6 weeks in, I started adding weights to the workout & I'm loving the results. I'm slowly & cautiously adding weights as time goes on & I'm learning to trust the process as I see the transformation & sculpting my body is taking on. Part of the process is changing my habits to make consistency part of my health journey & TRUSTING-the-PROCESS. The absolute BEST thing about this gym is the GOAT, Coach Juden. She is very knowledgeable, understanding, & supportive without sounding like a drill Sargent (though, I'm sure she can pile it on if that is your style). The energy at this gym is always positive, which influences my day to stay on the positive side. I love their weekly focus schedule. Take a look, I attached a photo.

Big Bang Athletics - Shatter your expectations

Big Bang Athletics has been my second home for the past three and a half years. When I first walked…read morethrough the doors, I had zero CrossFit experience, very little exercise experience at all, and a huge fear of being in such a hyper-masculine environment. Fast forward to today, and I'm leaving to a new state with skills and confidence I never imagined possible: throwing weight over my head and squatting it, getting a double-under with a jump rope, running a full mile without stopping, and so much more. I'm also leaving in the best shape of my life and with friendships that feel more like family. This gym is incredibly welcoming and supportive of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels. The workouts are both challenging and fun, and the coaches truly care about helping you reach your personal goals. Whether you want to compete, run a 5k, or simply get in a great workout, they'll listen and guide you every step of the way. If you're new to CrossFit, know that it will be challenging at first, but if you pace yourself and stick with it, you'll likely fall in love with it just like so many of us have, ESPECIALLY at Big Bang Athletics.

They don't make me hate the work out (not always anyways haha) and I feel comfortable walking in to the box on my own, not feeling like I don't fit in or that I shouldn't be there. The members here are very welcoming and nice, and I think that's the type of environment the owner, Fernando, really tries to embrace at the box. I would dread going to the gym, but I don't ever feel that way at Big Bang. When I miss a day, I actually look forward to my next workout day. I've been going for about 4 months now and if you're looking for challenging workouts to test yourself mentally and physically, Big Bang is a place to go. I've lifted weights that I never thought I would be able to do all thanks to the coaches here. One of the things that I love about going here is that the coaches top priority is your safety. So they focus on form and technique to ensure you're doing the movements right without hurting yourself. They don't expect you to lift heavy and would prefer that you go light with correct form than to do heavy with bad form that would lead to injuries. They watch your work out and correct your form as needed. On top of that, they are very motivating. Not only are they watching you for your safety, but they're cheering you on to keep moving. And this isn't done in an aggressive way to keep you moving, but in an encouraging way like they believe in you. The members here are the same! Some members from the prior class will stick around to do cool down or what not, but they also encourage you to keep moving during your workout as well and help you if needed. They'll even encourage you to put on more weight to challenge yourself. You'll be surprised what you can actually do if you tried. I feel myself getting stronger each time and honestly I love the idea of working out 10-20 minute work out a day and feel like I got a total body workout. It totally beats going to the gym for an hour and I feel more efficient during my short WOD. Plus each day is different, so I know I'm working every part of my body and not letting it be missed. The movements may be similar, but each day is always different during the week. So you won't ever get bored of the workout.. just maybe tired haha.
