When you enter the Complete Body gym, there's a juice bar and then you proceed downstairs into the main lobby. Don't worry about getting lost once inside because there is a huge physical therapy sign assuring that you have found the right place. Right away, I was struck by how Dr. Lee genuinely wanted me to get better, asking me questions and doing a thorough assessment. He joked that the goal was not to see him ever again after finishing the course of therapy. During my session, he helped remedy the scar tissue on my ankle and showed me the exercises I needed to do to improve. I also mentioned pain in my back and he helped relieve it with his adjustments. I have to admit, I was a little scared at first because you can tell he's a strong guy. But after turning my limbs and applying pressure, Omg did I feel relief.. I don't even need a chiropractor.The practice is very spacious and we also have use of the Pilates machine in the next room. In addition, I was able to get a complimentary membership during my course of therapy which is an added bonus. The gym is really nice including the locker rooms which has an amazing sauna and steam room. Most importantly, I was able to feel comfortable and after visiting a several times, my pain significantly subsided. I'm pretty confident I'll be able to run my next 10 mile run without any worries. Going up or down stairs was a daily reminder of the pain. For almost a year, I bounced between orthopedic doctors and various PT practices, searching for answers and a path forward. But nothing seemed to help, and I felt stuck, frustrated, and worn down. I was on the verge of opting for surgery and ready to give up. That's when I decided to go to Dr. Puzio. John is the one stop shop for all your PT needs!…read more I'm very familiar with traditional PT, as I have been in many different PT offices treating my right shoulder labrum/rotator cuff issues dating back to a snowboarding accident I had back in 2014. Anyway, I've been having issues with my left shoulder since early 2022. I did PT with 2 separate places in Manhattan, and then (ironically) ran out of visits with insurance without feeling much better up through August. I had been following John's IG account for a while and decided to give him a visit in Nov 2022. Let me start by saying this. It is very rare to find someone who can treat your body mechanical issues, actually get you back into the gym, and be 100% focused to solve all the problems you throw at him. He is also just an amazing compassionate guy. I have a very complicated anatomy and John helped me tremendously with neck/shoulder/knee issues. There were also countless times when I texted him and he was super responsive within the day with helpful tips of tweaking exercises in the gym. Here are 2 examples of epiphanies I had while working with John: 1) actually feeling my left pec muscle work with reduced pain in shoulder during chest exercise (main complaint) and 2) when I looked at John after doing a deadlift and saying "that actually felt great". I needed someone to treat a recurring elbow injury that I had let slide from "general aches" to "complete immobility" over the course of a few months. Normally I'm the type of person who ignores injuries and hopes they'll resolve on their own--and sometimes they do! However, when my arm just refused to heal, I scheduled an appointment. In the past I've been to different PT's around NYC to address other injuries that wouldn't heal (broken bones etc), and typically a session is about 20 minutes of manual therapy and 20 minutes of stretching on your own while the PT works on someone else. Dr. Rick, however, spends the whole 50-60 minutes assessing your injury, finding the root cause (in this case it was my neck and shoulder causing my arm to malfunction), and manually working on it. I didn't sit in a corner half-heartedly stretching while my appointment time ran out! Dr. Rick really dug in deep (pun intended) for an entire hour, assessed my movement patterns carefully, and gave me additional movements for at-home therapy. Within 2 sessions my elbow was back to full-range of motion. It's a fantastic thing to be able to access Dr. Rick's deep body of knowledge just by making an appointment (his impressive list of certs/degrees is online). I have been through physical therapy before and I've worked in a PT office; I can honestly say that I have never seen another therapist more attentive to their patients than Dr. Rick. Each session you're greeted with a warm smile and genuine interest in how you're doing, but from there it's down to business. Dr. Rick works with you to not just solve whatever is ailing, but to find the root of the problem. Too often doctors and therapists rush to treat the symptom rather than find the actual cause--not Dr. Rick! Because he spends the entire session with you, he is able to track down the root causes and works through both manual therapy and rehab exercises with you. (Ex: I had an issue overhead pressing, but the problem was actually an issue with my triceps.) I spoke with the owner apologize for the mishap and I completely understand. if it was in network, I will continue coming here. I also came here for a medical massage which was scheduled for 30 minutes and it was about 20 minutes or so. It was very efficient and time flew and I will consider coming back here for this service.
