Filled out the online inquiry and received a quick response to fill out a form with basic info. The form asks about info like goals, injuries,... I have a few injuries that impact some flexibility but generally don't limit me (for example, I play competitive tennis and used to box semi-competitively). I also stated I was just looking for general conditioning but hoped that through the strength training I could improve my structure (for example, my shoulders pull forward a little because I need to develop my back a bit). A week passes and I don't hear a thing. I send a follow-up and very quickly hear back with an e-mail response stating that they aren't a physical therapist and won't take me on as a client. I'm somewhat surprised but sent a response clarifying I wasn't looking for a physical therapist just a trainer and seeing who they could recommend. Again, I didn't hear back...I've moved on. I ended up finding an amazing trainer who I've been working with the last few months and the progress has been great. read more

Let's get real... I hate working out. I do not look forward to training here every week yet I keep coming back. It's probably due to the fact that it's my first time in my life that I'm actually training at a place that employs professionals (which means every week I get my ass kicked). I've done my fair share of training through various corporate clubs and the quality of trainers can not even come close to those that work at Rich Barretta. I've had the opportunity to work with two of the trainers here and both are extremely friendly, creative with their workouts and knowledgeable. Each week I'm presented with an entirely new workout. I've never repeated any exercise in the 3 months I've been training and the new muscles I've discovered thank me (or hate me) for that. The facilities are clean and intimate. Since it's a private studio, there are no distractions (other trainers talking to your trainer, waiting for equipment, not having enough space, gym members staring at you, etc.). I feel really comfortable working out here and I'm not embarrassed to try some of the exercises my trainer wants me to do since there's no one around watching me. The prices are reasonable as well. If you're looking to train somewhere, I would 150% recommend going here rather than with a trainer in your gym. read more

So this is the first time I've ever worked out with a personal trainer, and let me just say, I now know how the stars stay is such good shape. Because really and truly, I would go to a physical trainer as often as humanly possible if I could afford it! This was the first time I've ever been to RBPT, which as I found out is a rec-center that only does appointments (Personal trainers only). I liked this right off the bat because it takes the pressure off of going out to a regular gym and trying to match weights with a bunch of Jersey Shore style meatheads. The place is smaller than a regular gym (as you would guess) but the set up is great, and I found it to be very clean. Not to mention it was lacking that "Gym smell"! That's a definite plus. My GF got me a free training session with one of their trainers (he was so awesome I don't mind dropping his name: Ray Scalvino) and i fought thru the snowstorm to go, and I'm glad I did. Really, when it comes to a personal trainer, I would guess the thing that matters the most is feeling comfortable, and he did his absolute best to make me feel comfortable. I'm in OK shape (alot worse shape than i thought to be honest!) so I think he did a great job of pushing me to the limit without seeming like a drill sargeant (sp*). Right about now I'm still sore, but it hurts SOOO good. We did all kinds of inventive excercises, working out everything from arms/chest/stomach/legs. Rounded it off with some stretches and an apple and I was good to go. It's a great place that I would definitely recommend if you are looking to get in better shape but you want a little more personal help making it happen. Honestly, one of the best places I've ever been in terms of a workout. First and foremost, I started coming here end of February and have been training with Bryan Torres. I wanted a trainer that could listen to my goals, push me beyond just what I do at the gym, and keeps up with my eating habits. I can confidently say that he has exceeded my expectations. I was in a really bad mindset when I came here, and now, 4 1/2 months later I couldn't feel any better! This studio works!!! I've lost 12lbs over three months, grown into a healthy but also sustainable lifestyle and I've even started to like working out. Signing myself up for RBPT has been the best gift I've given to myself this year. I've been training with Chanice for the past three months and she's the absolute best. I was a super weak student to start with -- I used to go to gym maybe once a month and could barely power through 30min of jogging on the treadmill. My body was so tight that a proper lunge felt super painful. Chanice really paced all the exercises for me; once I became comfortable in a certain level, she'd push me to the next. I see her twice or three times a week and she focuses on different muscles for each class -- no two classes are the same which makes it so much fun! She's also given me stretching exercises to do when I'm travelling to work on my flexibility. And I'm doing more cardio (even kind of liking them now!) because she forces me to lol. Those are really the things I knew I should've done but wouldn't do without her pushing me. I definitely feel I've become stronger, leaner and healthier with the training. Things like squats, lunges, weights feel much easier than before; I can even do some pushups from time to time! Besides the workouts she also watches my meals and gives feedback on the ingredients, portion size, etc. Honestly this is the easiest and most sustainable diet I've been on (and I had tried maybe 187 other diets before this) -- it's been 3 months and I've still not called quits! Surprisingly I've grown to really like eating veggies and fruits too which would be unthinkable prior to my training... I really appreciate that she accommodates to my ever-changing travel schedule and has worked with me at some weird hours. The studio itself is clean, spacious (though a bit crowded at some popular hours) and well equipped. The locker room has showers and is well maintained. I can't recommend Andrew Saulino enough. When I first came to him I was badly out of shape. After several years of not working out I had just about zero muscle strength and as a result I couldn't do a single squat or a push-up. I had no endurance and got exhausted during just about any cardio. Ten months later and the results speak for themselves. I'm 45lbs lighter. My body has 'shape' to it. I can do squats, push-ups and now a multitude of new, ever-more challenging exercises. Best of all, my attitude towards fitness has changed. It no longer feels like a hassle to exercise, but a process I actually enjoy in no small part due to the self-confidence losing weight and gaining muscle has given me. Andrew was and continues to be the perfect trainer on this journey. He's encouraging and pushes you without being overbearing. He's patient but never lets you take the easy way out. No two sessions with him are the same - he continually switches up what we do so I am never bored. He's also a stickler for form so, as well as learning how exercises should be done, the last 10 months have been injury-free, Outside of the gym, Andrew is just as helpful, providing me with a specific diet plan, as well as cardio exercises and gym workouts to maintain progress when I'm not with him. The first session is 1.5 hours long because the first 30 minutes is spent on discussing the types of workouts I like, dislike, and determining whether there are any injuries or special considerations we needed to take. The hour after was spent on short simple reps. I barely broke a sweat BUT oh - my. My body was screaming in pain for the next 2 days! That to me tells me I had an extremely effective workout. He showed me that you didn't need to do 1,000 sit ups to feel that burn. A few crunches on the ball, a few planks and my abs were feeling the heat for days. In addition, the facilities are really clean and provide you with a comfortable feel. There are lockers (you don't need to have your own lock. They do loan you one during your training session) for you to store your things. I used to train at RBPT and I have to say it was an outstanding experience. My trainer was Adam and he is as good as it comes. Crowd: Since it's a private training gym, there is never a crowd. Every patron is always so focused in her/his workout that it's truly inspirational. Trainers: you get 1:1 attention and superior experience with trainers. Always. Given the non-obtrusive environment, your trainer and you can work uninterrupted on your routine. Facilities: spotless clean. To me, that is paramount. They have "training capsules" which is basically a separate space with your own weights, equipment, climate control and even your own music. This was a great feature. I don't train with a trainer any longer, but once I'm ready to do it again, I will undoubtedly choose RBPT. read more

I've been training with Anna since the beginning of the year and I love it! I would do more sessions if they were more affordable, but they are absolutely worth every penny. I used CrossFit on and off for about 6 months, but I had a steep learning curve and felt like I didn't improve fast enough to keep up (plus, it was expensive for me). Some things I love about RBPT: 1) ANNA! She gives me a good variety of workouts and keeps me challenged. She helped me keep track of my food intake initially, but not obsessively. I'm anti-diet and she helped me make small but helpful adjustments to the way I eat. I like that they make you fill out a short but structured survey when you first start to match you up with the right trainer, who can help you toward different goals. 2) Results! With the small dietary adjustments and once-a-week workout, I saw better results than anything I've tried. RBPT sessions feel very focused. As long as I can drag myself in here, Anna makes sure I work my butt off. I didn't have a weight-loss goal and had been a happy size 6 since middle school, but not complaining that I'm a 4 now. I feel good and just completed my first half marathon this past summer with little training. 3) No pressure - at all. Unlike personal training at other gyms I've been to, I didn't feel like I was pressured into buying more sessions. You can do one session a week, a month, a year... 4) The nice extras: Nice folks. These are professional and dedicated trainers helping their clients build confidence, health, endurance and strength. They don't try to strong arm you into buying some package of workouts. You want to work out? They make the time. You don't want to work out? Well, that's your decision. There's no sales pitch. It's just about your health. I was always very intimidated by gym culture because I wasn't very strong or confident. I got lazy and hit 35 years old a little out of shape. Max, my trainer, took the time to learn about me and my health, both physical and emotional. His workouts are specifically tailored to my needs and the progress has been insane. We work on body, mind and spirit (but not in a crunchy granola hippie way either). And even though I work out with Max, the other trainers take an interest in my progress and cheer me on when I reach a new goal. Individually I can only speak to Max as a trainer in detail. He's incredible at what he does. He motivates, teaches, coaches, and pushes me to become stronger faster and better. He doesn't slack and he doesn't let me slack. He's always there, always prepared, and always mixing up my workouts to keep me working as hard as I can. He also coaches me on diet and gives me workouts for when I'm not at the gym. He cares about my health, not about my credit card. And this isn't some "in name only" kinda place. Rich Barretta himself is always in the gym working with clients and keeping on eye on everyone's progress. The facility is clean, modern, and always in perfect working condition. The locker room is equally as clean, where they provide you space and a lock if you need it as well as a fully equipped shower and bathroom. I've been with a bunch of personal trainers before, and Garnett is by far the best one I've had. I've lost a substantial amount of weight in just over 6 weeks, and am doing workouts I never would have thought I could do. Garnett balances perfectly not letting you make excuses, and pushing you to do more with your body, but not being aggro or making you feel down when you hit your limits. He's in touch multiple times a day to see how I'm doing, and keep me motivated and positive towards keeping up on exercise and diet. He's also on top of making sure form and composure are on point. I have been going to RBPT for over a year now and I am very happy with my trainer (Rick B.), the place, and ofcourse, the results. Rick does a combination of strength training and Muay Thai that makes working out both challenging and interesting. I like that we change the routine up to focus more on different areas that I think need more of a workout. He's been really good about being flexible the weeks that I've been very busy at work, which is super helpful. And, he's funny and social so each session has been fun. The studio itself is very different from your typical gym. The workout areas are mostly private (so you don't have to look like a fool while working out) and you never have to wait for equipment. Personally, I think this is a huge plus. Their philosophy is to let you train at the frequency that is comfortable for you - 1x, 2x, 3x a week - whatever fits your life. What can I say? This place changed my life. Specifically, Max changed my life. I cannot recommend this place (and Max) highly enough if you are considering a trainer and want to get serious about your health. I did all the standard googling and considered a range of options (from NYSC to private studios), but RBPT stood out for its outstanding reviews (as evidenced here). I went through the onboarding process and for the first time was forced to actually consider what my goals were (in my case, it was re-establishing my health and fitness after my time in investment banking). I was matched up with Max, and I really could not have gotten a better trainer (though all of the trainers are great and create a great workout environment). I went weekly for a year+ in the mornings to stay honest and to continue to learn, and with Max's guidance I quickly reached a place where I was confident in learning and training hard on my own. Jeffrey Vargas is bae. I've been training with him for the past 2 months and I cannot stop telling all my friends about the experience. There are 4 things that I look for in a trainer: 1) Understanding and appreciating my goals 2) Understanding my lifestyle and habits 3) Having a good suite of knowledge on form and fitness 4) A good time Jeffrey is really great at all of these. Essentially, I use him as my encyclopedia on all things fitness and nutrition related. I would highly recommend him for clients who are looking to learn more about themselves and learn more about how to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their current lives. Jeffrey is flexible and lighthearted and kind. If you are looking for a coach who is constantly just screaming at you to do multiple reps regardless of your goals or limits, Jeff is not your guy. Here's more about him: He is an excellent listener and can understand my commute, lifestyle habits etc. so he has tailored his training and coaching to fit my life. For example, he's given me coaching on how to eat based on when I wake up (4:45am) to when I go to bed (12am); and has helped me fit in workouts into my schedule in ways where I may have not seen opportunity to maximize that time. During our sessions, he's constantly pushing me, but he knows when to stop and that a workout doesn't make sense anymore, or we need to change a routine or movement to re-focus on something else. For example, in one strength exercise, we realized that one of my weaknesses is imbalance on my right side. He then altered the exercise to my needs so that I can simultaneously work on my balance while also still exercising that strength. It goes without saying that one of Jeffrey's strengths is being able to see weaknesses and learn more about my body's strengths/weaknesses through our workouts. He's constantly observing to see where my imbalances are, where I'm stronger, what forms I need to work on. Jeffrey is a good partner in that he is always asking questions, the workouts are constant dialogue - learning more about that exercise, and how my body is improving so that he knows to either up the difficulty or to change it up a bit. He's also always asking what I want to learn, so I've really gotten a thorough education on various ways to exercise. In addition, Jeffrey is always there when I need him. He's accessible via text but he's not one of those trainers that's constantly on you about scheduling the next session. He's not a salesman. It's typically on my terms. I've even asked him for advice on how my boss (who's pregnant) should be training during her pregnancy. Training with Jeffrey has really changed my lifestyle for the better. I'm 100x healthier and I feel great. I'm getting stronger every day and I have now learned to incorporate fitness into my life in a healthy way. I'd recommend Jeff to anyone. He's fun and friendly and always has a smile on. It's a blast and a half to see him every week. Ask for him when you sign up! Regarding the facilities - everything is high end and top notch. I haven't experienced anything breaking or staying broken. The changing rooms are really nice and clean. The space was built and designed to accommodate this gym. This past year I have been working out with Edd Lee, who in addition to being a top personal trainer is also a licensed massage therapist. As a cancer survivor, Edd and I planned a fitness routine combining balance and flexibility with strength training and endurance. With a combination of yoga, Qigong, aerobic and core exercise, I've discovered my body and fitness level to be noticeably improved with each session. I've become stronger and leaner--exercises that seemed impossible and intimidating are now doable and my clothes fit differently. She's helped me push through so many "I can'ts" into this braver more confident place with my body and exercise. I've been training with Rick at RBPT for the last few months and I CANNOT recommend him enough! I've always had trouble staying disciplined-- I'd work out like crazy for weeks, sit on my ass for weeks, and I wanted a consistent challenge to motivate me and keep me focused on my long term goals. I've never pushed myself as hard as Rick pushes me. His workouts are super tough, always changing, and he some how manages to be very supportive and kind throughout the whole process. It appears most of the reviews are from females...so here is a male perspective! :) I decided to go for a trainer because I could not find a way to motivate myself into working out effectively (and have gotten out of shape after all the holiday laziness). In the past I purchased a "group" of training sessions at a local NY sports club and did not feel it was that effective. Sure they worked me out hard, but I did not learn how to turn that into a routine...it seemed I needed a trainer in order to workout. Plus there was no discussion of diet or stretching. I figured if I was going to give training a try one more time, I would look for a high quality place to get the full effect. After searching on Yelp...I found Rich Barretta's place! I contacted the gym and got an email from Stu. He sent me information and asked some questions to pair you up with the right person. I cannot say enough (as per the reviews below)....there is NO PRESSURE to sign up! After a few communications, I scheduled a session with Jarrod, who also has two brothers that also train there. The facility is really top notch for private training and very "urban hip"! A lot of thought went into the design. It is not full of high-tech machines like a regular gym as this place is just for training and you really don't need it! It has been 1 month (2x a week) and I have already lost weight, increased strength, and feel so much better. (We set up some goals...and so far most are on the way to be met....except I still am working on getting Rich Barreta size arms). Jarrod not only is showing me that "less can mean more" when done properly, but also helps me out with slight changes to my diet that are really paying off. Also, he is note training me with crazy new exercises, but simple exercises and MILITANT enforcement of speed & form (which is something I never followed this religiously). What is also cool is that you can communicate throughout the week and get input on things to help improve your habbits....which as I said before, REALLY make the workouts more effective! Rich has really given his trainers a lot of guidance, but also has allowed to bring with them their own style and personality. It is such a positive and upbeat environment that it actually makes you look forward to waking up extra early to go to. If you need a change....try this place. Health is something you cannot afford to neglect....and this place seems to have the RIGHT formula for getting back into the swing! May 2013 Update --- So I have been with it...2x a week since March and Definitely have been seeing results. It is almost time to create new goals as my first round of goals are in sight! five sessions in and i'm in love with everything about this place. the studio: very clean and private. even when there are others working out around you, you still feel like you have your own dedicated space. it's the type of environment that makes you want to work hard to look good - no blinding neon lights, no shitty 1/2 broken ab rollers laying around, no . basically, not at all Crunch-y. the staff: everyone seems very chill and friendly. from the women i've interacted with at the front desk to the other trainers who smile and say hello in passing. they also seem to have good chemistry among each other, like a little family. my trainer (max): when i initially inquired about training, i told stu that i was looking to take things up a notch. i had been doing ok on my own, but had a tendency to half-ass the same 3 or 4 exercises, then call it a day. i needed someone to hold me accountable and, more importantly, someone who was going to customize a plan for me and the changes i was looking to make - not just bust out some cookie-cutter plan they clipped out of Shape Magazine. i couldn't have asked for a better fit than max. he pushes me hard, but not in a drill sergeant barking orders kind of way. he does a good job of balancing professional and fun and he's super attentive - i feel like each move he picks for me is for a specific reason, not just the same moves he has all of his clients do. i hate working out, but i genuinely look forward to my sessions with max and i always walk away feeling amazing. read more

I'm not new to working out. When I joined RBPT, I'd been lifting on my own for about 10 years. However, I joined looking to maximize my training in order to get the most gains from the time I was putting in. I was also on a mission to gain muscle and drop my body fat percentage. Rich paired me up with Dan W. as my trainer. First off, Dan's a great guy. Super easygoing. Fun to train with and just a nice guy overall. In terms of the training, Dan was always prepared with a brutal workout for each session, to really put me through my paces. Honestly, I have never worked out harder than during these sessions. I really had to stay on top of my diet and sleep to make sure I was prepared for each one. But the results were worth it. I saw a big increase in my muscle mass, decrease in body fat, and improvements in my posture over the few months we worked together--all three of which were my goals when starting out. Friends made comments about the change, and overall I felt great about the shape I was in. I think what really made the difference was the fact that (1) Dan always had something new and challenging for me to try (2) he was always careful about monitoring my form and even making workout adjustments on the fly when necessary based on my own limitations and (3) he made sure to keep the intensity high, knowing what I could handle, and making sure I took just enough rest between sets to keep going strong. I eventually had to stop training at RBPT for personal reasons, but would love to go back. It's difficult to make the same rapid progress on my own. In short, I highly recommend this gym and Dan W. in particular as a trainer. If you're serious about reaching your fitness goals, Dan will make sure you get there. read more

I have been training with Anna now for a few months and it has been one of the best decisions I've ever made! I've worked with personal trainers before that I felt like all they wanted was for me to pick up heavy things and put them down. They never asked specifically what I wanted to achieve and how I wanted to get there. Anna took the time to talk to me and ask me questions and really tried to find out everything I wanted from private training. She's amazing! I'm a grad student and, after a grueling exam schedule last year, realized I'd gained ten pounds and become a complete lump. I used to be a serious athlete and was disappointed in myself for falling so far out of shape. When I returned to NYC after the New Year holiday I researched gyms that could help me keep my resolve to get fit again. I looked at lots of other gyms, but RBPT was the best fit. First, I like that the gym is appointment only. This means that it's a calm environment filled with people who are serious about working out - not filled with people exercising their vanity. Second, I appreciate that Stu took the time to ask me questions about what I hoped to gain from personal training. He matched me up with JEROME, who is the third big thing I like about the RBPT - in fact, like him so much that my husband now works out with Jerome as well. The best thing about Jerome from my perspective is that he takes me and my goals seriously. He's developed a comprehensive, and totally ass-kicking, program that has really helped me excel at my sport (sailing). Over the past few months I've noticed improvements in my endurance and strength each time I've stepped on the boat - and I have defined six-pack abs for the first time since high school. That doesn't hurt. Lastly, I appreciate that he does not train me differently because I'm a woman. I've had trainers in the past who either refused to weight-train with me, or who put me exclusively on weight machines. Not so with Jerome - we do a lot of weight training, and much of it with free weights. And when I told him my goal of doing a pull-up, he didn't laugh - we started in on training those muscles immediately. In all, I highly recommend RBPT and Jerome in particular. I started training at RBPT for straightforward reasons. I was four months away from getting married and had gained nearly 30 pounds while working full-time and going to grad school. I was the heaviest I'd ever been and, even though I was an athlete by nature, I'd only dropped 13 pounds on my own and knew I needed help reaching my goal. That's when I started working with Cedric. From the start, Cedric emphasized that we were a team working toward my goals together and that the changes I wanted to see in my body required my commitment beyond the two hours we spent every week together. He put systems in place to help me reach my goals, including daily food logs and regularly measuring my progress. In 12 weeks, I lost 12 pounds - four inches around my waist, two in my arms, two in my thighs, and one in my calves (and I'm only 5'0"!). Working with Cedric is not just about making changes to your body though. It's also about learning the discipline of movement and having the mental focus to push past the limits you think you have. Cedric is a meticulous technician when it comes to form. He isn't a trainer who will just show up and stand over you counting reps. Every movement is intentional and you'll do it over and over until you get it right. He explains how those small tweaks make all the difference. He understands when to get in your face and when to take a softer approach, and he was as committed as I was in helping me reach my goals. Getting into my dress was an awesome feeling, but feeling comfortable in my own skin again and being able to push my body beyond certain limits is even more incredible. The RBPT facilities are top notch. Even at its busiest, it's never crowded and the vibe is friendly and welcoming. The experience and outcomes are worth every penny! read more

This place is awesome. I discovered it through Yelp, and every word that people have written that is positive, I believe to be true. This isn't a gym that will pressure you to buy the next session. So you don't have to deal with that awkwardness. You return on your own terms because they kick your ass so hard you get results. It's very clean, the locker room is nice and spa like, the mats don't smell...up to date equipment and most important welcoming. If you are an Introvert like myself you will feel at peace here. It's not crowded, it's not noisy, they have work out pods where the lights dim and music volume can be adjusted over your section so you can feel at ease. I train with Rick I highly recommend him. While my work outs are challenging they are also fun. He works Muay Thai into my training which works really well for me. I am stronger and leaner because of this. Had my first personal training experience in life and with Rick here! Absolutely excellent. I would recommend to beginners and exercise fanatics alike. Not only was Rick nice to me, he was supportive and motivating meanwhile at one point I almost burst into hysterical maniac laughter as I was working so hard and had never felt so physically challenged before. The best personal training experience I've ever had. The studio is clean and not crowded at all. RBPT is appointment only, which is very different to other gyms in that you won't have an excess of people crowding machines or the floor. Everyone there is there for the same reason you are - to work out seriously with their trainer. (The locker rooms and amenities are always top-notch, too!) The atmosphere of the gym is very comfortable and without distractions. All the staff and trainers are incredibly friendly. I never feel pressured by anything but myself and my goals, which is great. I've been working out with Garnett (Strother) at RBPT for a few months now and it's been fantastic. He's incredibly knowledgeable - he really adapts your workouts to your goals and schedule. I've been going twice a week and no two workouts have been the same. And the results are amazing to me; as someone who hadn't worked out seriously for a quite a while before this, in the two-three months I've gone I've had to get clothes tailored, lost weight and inches, and become much stronger and confident overall. He has this very cool idea where we take pictures of our meals and send them to him, which I haven't experienced with another trainer. In my case it helps me quite a bit in thinking about my meals and overall health daily. In short, I would absolutely recommend Garnett to anyone looking for a great personal training experience, beginners or experts alike! read more

If you're looking to make some real changes- this place is perfect! The atmosphere is nice with dim lighting and no waiting around to use machines. Very clean also! Great, flexible schedules! I just began training with Lou Reyes and he is AMAZING! Every week is a different type of work out and so we work out all different parts of the body. Really challenges my work out and pushes me to take it to that extra step I would not normally do on my own. Lou took the time to assess my goals and customize a workout routine and even help with a meal plan. Aside from our weekly sessions, he always checks in to see how I'm doing, my diet, and gives me workouts for the week. Very personable, supportive, and motivating. I can't say enough great things about Cedric!! I have been training with him for almost a year, and he has completely transformed the way I approach working out. He is hyperaware of form, effort, and efficiency, and I am always amazed by his ability to push you past your limit just enough so that you stay encouraged and motivated. I've worked out regularly my entire life and am a runner - Cedric has completely changed my form so my runs are more effective and the injuries I used to deal with are a thing of the past. As a firm believer in the connection between the physical and the mental, I have gained so many benefits from my sessions with Cedric and they go way past just being in the best shape of my life thus far. Cedric is not only super knowledgeable about the musculoskeletal system but he also becomes your personal champion to a point where you feel accountable for your effort and determination because you want to be, not because you're forced to be. He also genuinely respects your goals and tailors your workouts accordingly. The experience of working out with Cedric is truly individual which I personally think is the most important part of private training. Plus, he is just a good dude. I love it here. I've seen several of the trainers here because, if for whatever reason my regular trainer is not available or I need to switch one week from my regular time, there is always someone else willing to work with me. All of them have been great. I am by no means a fitness guru, but after a couple of weeks here I became hooked and gradually added another workout into my week. And another. And another. Trainers try to be as flexible as possible with your schedule. I'm always challenged, I always feel great after each visit, even when my muscles burn. Worth every penny. read more

I've worked out at RBPT for the past 9 months and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their fitness and training. In particular, my trainer Garnett has far and away been the best trainer I've had (I've had 3 previous ones at other gyms.) Here's what works for me with RBPT: 1) The facility is awesome and has every piece of equipment you need. Because it's a trainer gym it's easy to get acces to exactly what you need which means workouts can be more complicated and varied. Doing things like supersets with 3 or 4 different exercises isn't usually possible at commercial gyms because you can't lock up all the equipment for that much time. 2) Variety, I've been working out with Garnett for 9 months and we are still adding new things. I'm continually impressed by the challenges he comes up with and it's been especially rewarding to find myself able to do new things that I know would have been impossible when I started. 3) Personalization and addressing specific needs. I had a lingering shoulder injury when I started working out at RBPT - likely incurred from bad form with previous trainers. Garnett and all the folks at RBPT have great anatomical and physiological expertise and we came up with a way of working on the shoulder that really helped rehab it. (One of the big things here was use of the arm bike which is a piece of equipment I've never seen elsewhere.) Going to a trainer gym is more expensive than working out with a trainer at a commercial gym. But it's definitely worth it and not actually that more expensive (maybe 15%?). Also since RBPT is pay as you go, you're not getting sales pressure into buying packages or staying on some kind of artificial program.
