Let me start by saying that Matcha Cafe Maiko it is my favorite place for dessert. The staff is always fast and helpful. The soft serve has been amazing and the new flavors every couple of weeks has been welcoming! (Always check Instagram for new flavors). HOWEVER I have no idea why but this week (6/19/21) the flavors of the ice cream has been "water down" . The usual staple Matcha soft serve (bold and strong flavor) is a light shade of green and very light on the matcha flavor......close to vanilla...very very dissapointed. Dont know if the machine is not working properly or "they" decided to cut cost.....WRONG MOVE GUYS!!. If this continues they will lose a tons of loyal customers...not to mention yours truly. I love love love this place! I discovered it through Instagram ads and decided to give it a try. I am not a fan of matcha but I am glad that they do serve different soft serve flavors almost every month. My first flavor I've had was vanilla which was great, their cone is so sweet and crispy, really enjoyed their cone. Second flavor was durian which is my favorite, it tasted like the real thing almost, and very creamy. The third flavor I tried was White Rabbit candy which was similar to the vanilla soft serve with a hint of white rabbit, that was ok, I don't think I'll order that again. But my most favorite so far is the brown sugar boba soft serve! Everything about it is perfect, there is enough boba and brown sugar to enjoy with your ice cream! I am a frequent customer here and love it here although one of their cashiers can be quite rude, lack of customer service skills, doesn't smile and greet customers with enthusiasm. But that doesn't stop me from coming here, their ice cream is too good! Do give this a try!!! read more

The matcha was amazing but unfortunately their customer service is horrendous. I ordered something that had red bean and politely asked them to not put it. Two young girls proceeded to make the item. The young blonde asian girl had no problem to talk about how difficult customers are when they make customizations on menu items right after I asked for one thing to be removed. Then talk about how I wouldn't notice if they were just to put it as if I was right in front of them.Not sure what caused her to be so blatantly rude but it was completely uncalled for. read more

Tried this place with my friend. I am a super matcha fan. Matcha drinks must be very green to me. I don't it when it's overly sweet and you can't taste the matcha or not sweet at all and too bitter. This matcha is the good stuff for sure. Everything is soo greenn. I tried the matcha cheese drink. It is good. Definatly strong matcha and I will say it woke me up a little bit.. the cheese flavor you don't get as much. but that's fine. You are going here to get more matcha taste I would assume. Next time I would try the regular iced matcha, or hot matcha drink. They have matcha drinks with fruit in them. The blueberry one looks super delicious. The matcha float also looks super delicious. The matcha crepe desert looks super bright green and yummy. Their icecream is matcha, vanilla and sesame options. They also have also of sesame drink and desert options. I believe a black sesame smoothie. My friend got I think the special that was matcha and vanilla icecream soft serve with green sponge cake, jelly fruits red beans maybe some other things.. It was also pretty good. The place is very cute. There is some seating on the floor which I thought was pretty cool. There are fat stuffed cats that were looking out the window lol... I am so happy they opened a location in Duluth. I used to go to the Doraville location, but Duluth's matcha cafe's customer service is amazing!!!!!!! The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I usually come here for the matcha latte, and today I got a message from them saying I had a 15% off. I was happy and went to get some for my brother and I. I was bit of a hurry so when I order I told the lady, "hey I have 15% off", and she proceeded by telling me just put your number in so I did. Once she gave me my receipt back I noticed she didn't give me the 15% off. When she came back with my order, I told her and She told me "oh I forgot. You can use it next time". This is my third time coming to Match Cafe in Duluth and the service is mediocre. The first time I got a Maiko Special, it was so over filled that I almost spilled it. On multiple occasions we've asked for soft serve to be put in a cup with the cone on the side but I always seem to receive it in a cup WITH the cone on top instead. The lady that was making my order this time was taking her sweet time and while looking in the window to see why, my ice cream was sitting on the counter melting causing her to have to remake my order. I could honestly go on about the multiple issues that I experienced while at the Duluth location. Another thing is the employee that served me my soft serve wasn't wearing gloves and seemed to be wiping her face when making it. During this time, they should be wearing gloves smh really hope they hire better help in the future. For all the people that wants to go, GO TO DORAVILLE LOCATION! A good spot for a dessert, if you're a fan of classic Matcha flavors in your sweet treats. It's a Japanese chain that we are lucky to be able to try in Georgia. I have tried the soft serve matcha ice cream and mix as well as the Maiko Special. Out of the three the simplest one, the basic soft serve matcha faired well. I found the taste of the matcha to be fresh and high quality as well as delicious. I'm also used to the slight bitterness of matcha powder so I do enjoy the mildly bitter flavor embedded under all the sweetness of the soft serve. The reason I felt the matcha special wasn't my favorite was because it felt overwhelming with all the extra ingredients and I'm a simple person. I see something that I like and I go right for it. The chiffon cake is bland and not very tasty as an addition to the soft serve. I couldn't comment on the chestnuts as I could barely feel their presence and shiratama mochi also felt soft but tasteless and flavor less as most mochi is made from rice being slammed and slapped around and rice is generally bland. I haven't tried the drinks yet but I can say that I enjoyed this place mostly because of novelty: you get what you came for - solid matcha flavored desserts! read more
