I'm not a big fan of the ice cream, but I really loved the guava sparkling drink--it was refreshing and delicious. I also came late at night, so there was no line, which made the visit quick and convenient.
This review will primarily be based on the mango coconut drink on their new menu. I saw that there were new mango based products on the matcha cafe menu and I rushed to get it. The mango was sweet and delicious, but for some reason, I've never liked it in a drink. The coconut flavor was present but the drink itself was mild and odd. Next time, I'd probably get the mango soft serve. This drink was a 3/5. The service was a 5/5. I was glad to see that it was ready for pickup when I got there. I ordered it 20 minutes in advance and I liked how the servers/workers made the drink for me on the spot. The ambiance was super lively, even though it's in a small spot.
I came on a Thursday night. There was quite a line and three machines to order from. It's expensive. They are promoting lavender products right now. I got the blueberry lavender matcha latte for $10+ including tip. It was good but regular size. There's a board to show order progress.
4/5 Peach oolong soft serve $9- really good, very peachy, great as long as you don't get the sakura cold foam ($1 extra), the sakura cold foam was very subtle, which after some research, is naturally so, I like my flavors & fragrances to be strong enough in food w/o being overwhelming
Really LOVE the mango sticky rice parfait with added lavender soft serve. The lavender soft serve has a nice true lavender taste. Mangoes are soft and ripe and pairs so well with the authentic sticky rice. Hubby enjoyed his espresso matcha soft serve with coconut water. Would definitely return to have both of these treats again. Lots of other drink options as well and the lines can be long. If you're lucky enough to grab a table, you can sit and enjoy this treat. Super busy and high noise level on weekends.
Matcha Cafe Maiko delivered in every aspect!! I had heard good things about this establishment, and they most certainly did NOT let me down! We stopped by the mall they're located within specifically to visit them, and I found the experience to be wonderful! First off, ordering at the kiosks was extremely easy, and despite the large amount of people, they had our drinks that had been ordered ready in no time at all! My Matcha Latte with Sakura Foam was absolutely perfect in the sense that it was subtly sweet with nothing being too overpowering - I loved the slight fruity hints and the great quality to the matcha. My partner wanted the soft serve Matcha, which he found to be thoroughly enjoyable. It's in a mall, but the venue itself is very clean and easy to access. Regardless, I highly recommend this spot for giving a try!
I've been to the Matcha Cafe Maiko in Chinatown and was in awe that they got another location in the Tangram mall in Flushing. It is on the 2nd floor of the mall in the food court section. You can spot it really well when you get off the elevators. It is literally next to it with the huge logo on the wall. It has no doors and has an open to the public concept that you cannot miss. This afternoon I went there to check it out and grab floats and ice cream and was shocked at how many people were lining up to get matcha! There were 3 kiosks and in person cashier to place your order. I decided to go with the kiosk. I got a matcha latte float that came with ice cream on the top. I got to decide on 2 types of ice cream flavors and I went with matcha and Milo chocolate malt. I also got a matcha pudding with soft serve and chose matcha and ube flavors to go with it. Surprisingly with the number of people waiting for their orders, my order was ready in less than a minute. The staff were super fast with the orders. I didn't even have to wait. The matcha ice cream on the top of the latte float tasted amazing and authentic. I could taste the matcha flavor really well without adding any sugar. The Milo chocolate malt was not that salty as I imagined. They actually did not balance out the matcha and chocolate proportions well. I ended up getting more matcha ice cream than the chocolate on my latte. After I finished the drink, I realized how much ice was in the cup. It was half the cup left of unmelted ice. I didn't even know that it was going to be that much. I wish they gave less ice so I had more matcha latte in the cup. The matcha pudding with matcha and ube ice cream was really good too. My daughter had that and ate all the ice cream really fast since it was so delicious and creamy! Overall, the drinks and ice cream were really good but it was too pricey and wish they hadn't add that much ice in the latte.
Counter service / quick service selection. They have a loyalty system if you input your phone number soft serve was pricy as expected but absolutely worth the money. We thought it was delicious and can't wait to return. The area it's located in is in a mall food court with plenty of seating choices.
I finally got around to trying the matcha latte here! I had tried their seasonal ice cream flavors before but never the matcha latte as I wasn't a fan yet. Apparently this spot has one of the best matcha lattes that you can find in NYC. Ordering was done via the tablets or register. They also had signboards out with deals that weren't available on the tablet menu. Right now they're introducing hojicha as a new flavor. On weekdays, they have a special for $8.88 where you can get one of 2 drinks and a custard or red bean taiyaki. I got the matcha latte with 75% sweetness and that was perfect for me. It really might be one of the best matcha lattes I've had in NYC (but the all time favorite is still Tokyo). 10/10 would get another matcha latte from here or maybe try one of their other flavors. Prices are a bit on the higher side at almost $8 for just one drink.
Good quality desserts and dessert drinks. A bit on the pricier side, but still good Ordered the matcha lavender dessert milk drink with no ice and 0% sugar. If you mix it, the matcha overpowers the lavender and you won't taste it much anymore. But overall still a good drink Service was super fast and professional. It can depend on when you go, this time I didn't have much wait on a Thursday evening
Definitely a solid and reliable option for dessert. One thing that really draws me to Matcha Maiko is really the variety of desserts and toppings that they offer. They sell lattes, sundaes, soft serves, soft serve on top of lattes, it feels like you can really mix and match whatever cravings you are having. They offer toppings like as mochi, red bean, jelly, etc and all these different texture and variety make the desserts that much more filling. and in my opinion, makes the price more reasonable. My boyfriend and I will usually always go for the float. We love being able to have both a latte and soft serve in one. The latte itself is pretty decent and the soft serve has more of a thicker consistency which we enjoy. The soft serve is always creamy, smooth and had a strong matcha flavor. Overall, definitely a solid place for dessert.
The ube soft serve was delicious. I paid $10.07, tax included. After choosing your items, they give you the option of adding your phone number and opting for rewards. I earned 9 points for the ube soft serve purchase. You can order digitally through one of the touch screen kiosks or you can order at the front, with the cashier. There were a lot of people at the Flushing location, but the line moved quick. The workers were nice, handed the orders well. There isn't any seating area at the cafe, but there is at the food court outside of it.

Came here just 2 weeks after it opened at Tangram Mall and luckily there was no line to order but there was a long line of people just waiting to pick up their orders. I like how they have special limited flavors available as during the time I went they had ube. You also have the option of adding matcha powder and other powders dusted on top. Service - ordering was fast and easy. But it was waiting for the ice creams that took a while. Food - ordered the signature matcha soft serve and my sister got the matcha + ube swirl on cones. I found the matcha flavor to be strong and after a while, I had simply gotten tired of the taste. The matcha powder on top definitely contributed to the rich, earthy taste. Price - for $9 a soft serve, it was quite expensive but I think the large portion kind of made up for it. Looking forward to trying their matcha float and shaved ice. read more

Grabbed a couple of cones after lunch on a recent warm day. Ordered a swirl but the machine was having problems with the matcha flavor so we ended up with just ube. The taste of the ice cream was nice and smooth. You taste the ube and it wasn't overpowering- a slight hint of the flavor. The servers were very nice. They went out of the way to try to up the experience to make up for the broken machine and not getting the matcha flavor for the swirl. So they helped add crunch sprinkles to the cones. Good move! Grand opening of Maiko Matcha Cafe in Tangram mall in Flushing!! Finally this location is opened and Maiko Matcha is available at more location. In the hub filled with many different desserts. The matacha is so rich and the matacha used is so authentic. They make each drink in front of you and the rice cakes were so chewy and good! I've gotten the hojicha tea and it wasn't too strong and for everyone who doesn't know it is roasted green tea! (supa good) The line was a little longer on the grand opening date but the staff was super friendly and took care of the line quickly as possibly. The location is at a great space. Parking may be a little hard as it is located in Flushing but really accessible if your taking public transport! Will visit again! read more

Small store front in Queen's new Tangram shopping mall. Although it is one of many dessert spots here, matcha cafe maiko stands out and there is a reason why people love this spot. Since there's only two people working, there may be a wait if there's a rush of customer but it's worth it. Really good quality matcha desserts - I got the shaved ice with matcha/ube twist and it was the perfect dessert (sweet but not too sweet) after a hearty meal. Enough to share but can also easily be enjoyed by one. They do have limited edition, seasonal flavors but I always go back to the classics. read more

Seeing the photos of the waffles as I walked by the food court, I decided I'd stop by for dessert after dinner. They are located on the second level of Tangram Mall just as you enter the food hall on the left. They serve a variety of matcha infused items (ice cream, waffles, drinks etc.). I chose the matcha waffle with red bean paste. This was $6 plus tax. Yes, it is bright green! The paste is a very light pink with the "Maiko" wording sprinkled on. Insta worthy I suppose. I expected the red bean paste to be sweeter sort of like what I've had in the taiyaki ice cream cones. However, this tasted a bit like sweeter cream cheese? Not what I expected, but the more bites I took the better it tasted. The waffle is soft and having it on a stick makes it easy to eat on the go. Service was fast despite the line. I think next time I'd rather try the matcha drink or ice cream. read more

Came here on a Sunday night around 8pm and was shocked how busy it was! I got the yuzu ice cream with yuzu drizzle and the original matcha mochi waffle with red bean cream. Both were sooo delicious! I absolutely recommend both!! Theres an option to order online for pickup so if it's super busy thats a really good option! read more

i went on a saturday night and it actually wasn't crowded at all. i couldn't get the swirl but we still got two different flavors! they just put one on top of the other. i was delighted to find out that they still had the japanese melon flavor- i thought it was only for a limited time. i also got the matcha. we were then asked which topping we wanted- soy bean, hojicha, or matcha flour. i wanted to do it myself and ask for two different flavors but was still shy. i ended up picking the soybean one. she topped it off with a white chocolate star. the japanese melon was super refreshing and perfect with the soy bean powder. the chocolate tasted a bit old and was really hard haha but it doesn't matter too much. read more

My first time trying matcha and I have been excited about it for a while. The mall is beautiful and has many places to eat inside this particular location was upstairs right off of the escalator. There was a short line mostly people scattered all over so there was a bit confusion. When I got to the front I place my order with a young lady. I asked the young lady who was helping me about which matcha latte she would suggest she basically told me what she had so I chose the strawberry matcha latte. For the soft serve they had a few different options I did have a sample of the matcha, my daughter and I really did not like it. I always wanted to try Ube we tried it thought it was ok and went with that in a cone. A few moments later we did get our order and left my mother was in the car since parking is very difficult in this area and she tried the Ube and thought it was very good so I went back inside. I went back on line and ordered two more Ube cones for the road we know this flavor is limited my mother really enjoyed it so we will be back soon! read more

I've been to Matcha Cafe Maiko in CA, Las Vegas, and Hawaii but I'm so glad it finally opened here in NYC. I came here after lunch for dessert on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. The place is probably the most popular place in the Tangram mall so there's always a line on the weekends. The line moves fast though since there's many employees. My friend and I shared a shaved ice with soft serve ice cream swirl. The swirl is usually matcha and the seasonal flavor (Calpico this month). Be sure to request matcha powder or hojicha powder on the soft serve ice cream and soybean powder on the mochi. The Uji matcha is high quality and the soft serve ice cream is creamy. The portion is very large so it's definitely shareable. I'll be back whenever I'm in Flushing! read more

While I enjoyed the quality of the items felt like the combo didn't really elevate the item itself to another level. Tried the matcha sparkling drink and didn't really enjoy the item at all. Matcha and Calpico soft serve ($9) was good! I think the Calpico flavor is only for a limited time? The line was long but should be expected on the weekends.
