This place has really pretty (and really expensive) desserts. For those who like bling, they even have gold and silver soft serve ice cream (and both come in bling and super bling [not the official names] versions) The Milo soft serve was pretty good - very smooth and not too heavy. The Uji Matcha soft serve was very smooth too and used high quality green tea - I could taste the powder. It was somewhat bitter and thus something of an acquired taste. It wasn't really sweet so as not to overwhelm the matcha flavour The desserts here are interesting but this place is really too expensive to be anything more than an occasional stop. Also, unfortunately they only accept Debit and WeChat pay. No cash even
The last time we were here was when it first opened. We had their soft serve ice cream and loved it. This time.... wasn't as great. We came to see what the hype was all about for their white rabbit brown sugar tapioca milk tea. White rabbit was a childhood favourite, so we had high hopes. Sadly, we both couldn't taste the white rabbit flavour. It mostly tasted like the brown sugar tapioca, which was tasty, but def not what we were expecting or hoped for. The drink comes in one size only, which is small (too small for our liking) and costs $6 plus tax (cash only). Not worth it in our opinion. I guess next time we'll stick to just having their soft serve ice cream.
***bring cash as that's the only method of payment they accept*** I've come here several times when they first opened but could never seem to catch them being open when their hours stated they would be.... That made me extremely skeptical about their business practices as if I can't trust when they say they're going to be open, I don't really have a lot to go off on as a customer. This time around, I went after dinner one night so I had a feeling that they had to be open! I completely understand why their pricing for edible gold and silver are priced so high but I don't fully grasp why anyone would actually pay to consume it. On a partially related note, I don't fully understand why their different flavors are at different price points. In theory, shouldn't all prices be the same across all the flavors of ice cream? That's what I think about it anyways but I can't recall what the price of a cone/cup is. [Roasted Oolong] - this was originally what my friend ordered. She ordered her ice cream in a cup but also wanted a cone so they accommodated her by serving it to her with a cone upturned over the softserve! This was delicious as she let me try a little spoonful of hers. I actually ended up swapping ice creams with her because I was not fond of the ube one at all.... [Ube] - Google says that "ube" means purple yam so I'm going with that! I typically love when things are ube flavored but I guess for some reason, not the one from this specific place.... I thought it tasted far more earth-like than I was comfortable with but I think that's just my own opinion. My friend said she didn't mind it so she consumed it on my behalf instead. I think I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a different variety of flavors that you can't typically get in soft serve! Consult their Instagram page to see what their current flavors are as they update it pretty regularly. Usually, places only have the same old flavors of vanilla and chocolate so coming here once in a while to see what flavors they have won't put a huge dent in your wallet :D
I saw a post on Instagram of Milo ice cream in a black cone and it immediately caught my attention. Additional posts had Ovaltine and Horlicks ice cream, all soft serve. OMG! Is this real? I grew up with these flavours as a kid and I really enjoyed them. I shared this discovery with some friends and they got just as excited! A mob of ten of us headed over there to try it! On this night, they had Milo and Horlicks, no Ovaltine. I chose the Horlicks in a black charcoal cone, while some opted for Milo, and some had regular cones or cups. Damn, this was good, not cheap, but good! It brought back good memories. I sampled the Milo and it was just as good. I'm looking forward to trying the Ovaltine another day. The ice cream was nice and creamy and the charcoal cone was very crunchy. Next time, I'm going to try something and throw some grapenuts (another childhood favourite) on it for added texture! If anybody steals this idea before I try it, let me know how it turns out. I enjoyed this so much, I ended up there again the next day, with another group of friends. They all enjoyed it too. Now I just have to try the Ovaltine.
Friendly staff, decent ice cream, limited flavours in a hole in the wall. Service: The staff were very friendly and inviting, and explained the options (not many). You get one flavour if you want the ice cream in a cone, or up to two if you want it in a cup. Food: The ice cream was nice and the matcha flavour was there, although not very strong. The ice cream wasn't filled to the bottom of the cone and it was hollow near the centre, but it was very thick/dense. Overall: It's quite expensive for what it is, but decent if you're craving soft serve matcha/ube/horlicks ice cream. Tip: Enter in your phone number at checkout for a discount with FiveStars.
To get to Mat.cha you'll first need to find parking in the mess of a parking at Commerce Gate, enter through the door and find the entrance to this little sweet shop on the right, across from the Alley. The first thing that draws you to the shop is the advertisement of different flavours you probably wouldn't find anywhere else - this is the uniqueness of Mat.cha. You don't get the vanilla, the chocolate or strawberry soft serve. You get common asian flavours such a Horlick, Ovaltine, Milo, and most recently White Rabbit (candy). I went on two occasions due to my love for both the white rabbit candy and the Milo chocolate malt drink. Both soft serves had the perfect swirl and were served in the black charcoal sugar cone. The cone itself has no flavour profile other than a regular sugar cone. The white rabbit was refreshing. It had a very light white rabbit candy taste. You don't actually notice that flavour until you get the aftertaste. For those who don't know what white rabbit tastes like, don't be frightened. It's not an animal. It's actually a milk based sugar candy... tastes like condensed milk in candy form. The milo was good - I personally prefer milo over white rabbit. The flavour was true to the milo taste - chocolate malt. There wasn't a moment where I was guessing what the flavour was. Overall, would I pay this much for the ice cream? Probably not. But it was enjoyable to get childhood favourites in a soft serve.
I can't believe I haven't written a review for Matcha yet. This little shop is located at Commerce Gate and you might miss it if you're not looking for it. It's located right beside The Alley with the cutest little table and chairs out front. The standard menu includes Matcha, Sesame & Red Bean. My favourite of these three is Sesame. I've only had the Matcha once and it seemed a little powdery so I haven't ordered it since. The taste was similar to Tsujiri but more creamy + sweet. I've also had a sample of the Red Bean but I'm not a fan of Red Bean. What's most captivating to me is their limited edition flavours. They have their famous Charcoal cone with Gold or Silver foil which has been taking over instagram. The Charcoal is a mix of coconut and vanilla (not my personal fav). I do want to try their plethora of limited edition flavours ranging from Marshmellow, Lavender, Japanese Ramune, London Fog, Pineapple and more! A lot of these flavours are only available for one day but may make a comeback. I tried the limited time Thai Milk Tea and the Tieguanyin soft serve, both of which are delicious. I think the Thai Milk Tea was the most delicious soft serve I ever had! I will say that it was a little sweet towards the end, but it is the most perfect form of Thai Milk Tea as a soft serve. The Tieguanyin soft serve is great alternative if you prefer the tea flavour over the sweetness. I've always been helped by Chris every time I'm there and I've never seen anyone else working. He is very friendly and always looking for ways to improve. When we had the Charcoal ice cream, he gave my friend and two cups of warm water without us even asking (because that stuff gets all over your mouth)! When I had the Thai Milk Tea, he asked if it needed any tweaking, whether or not it was too sweet. The only downside is their operating hours. I wish they were open during lunch hours but they don't open until 4pm.
I"ve come here a few times already and I have tried a few of their delicious cones! it's tucked inside the plaza but it's not that difficult to find. Not a lot of sitting room either - just a few chairs for those who choose to loiter, or you can stand outside the shop in the corrider in the inner area of the "mall" and just hang around there to eat. They have various flavours and they do change them up - however, it's hard to know what's available when one just shows up at the store. So far I have tried the lemon tea, horlick and most recently the white rabbit candy. The ice cream was spectacular for the lemon tea and horlick. Lemon tea taste exactly like the drink itself and i was quite impressed! the horlick was amazing - i just love the amt of malt and i can really taste the flavour... def one of my favourites. The white rabbit candy - it wasn't as creamy as i would've liked so in some sense it wasn't exactly the same as the candy itself - which i do get is hard to achieve. The taste is there but i dont' know if it's just that particular batch but it could be stronger - some of my other friends mentioned when they had it the taste was definitely there so could just be that night. They also ran out of all other flavours except the white rabbit candy... so perhaps that particular batch wasnt exactly the greatest. But still, if you're ever wanting to try some asian-inspired soft serve ice cream and you haven't checked out this place yet, I would highly suggest you go - i can't wait to go back to try the vitasoy in the summer time!
Love their Horlicks soft serve as it's the only place that makes it and it tastes just like the drink. They have soft serve flavours that are very Hong Kong style and I have tried others like Vitasoy, Matcha and White Rabbit but Horlicks is hands down my favourite! They are also available on Ubereats but they have to freeze it extra cold for delivery which takes away from the smooth texture so I recommend ordering in store.
Have the Ovaltine x Lindor ice cream, and let me tell you, I have never ever had an ice cream that tasted just like the name yet not too too sweet at all! Very smooth ice cream, extremely rich Ovaltine in each bite, but where's the Lindor part? I have no idea... The waffle cone... it tasted a little off... My boyfriend and I both thought it tasted kind of fake (is that even possible)?? But it just didn't taste like a waffle to us.
When the employee came out with our order, he told us to wait at least 10 minutes before eating (???). The "soft serve" was freezer burnt and served in a cup which could be held upside down without it budging in the slightest. As you can imagine, as the cone defrosted it became soggy and stuck to the paper cone holder. It's clear that they pre-made their soft serve and froze it for ease. This place serves two things: bubble tea and soft serve. If you're going to have a menu with limited options, you're going to want to do it right and do it extremely well. Matcha Tea & Dessert failed horribly in doing so - a disappointment as I've seen so many photos on social media raving about this place.
*rubs hands* HERE WE GO. 3rd update. You'll always see at least one of Chris/Max (the owners), at the shop making fresh tapioca batches daily. Since my last review they've worked out many kinks in the shop with a few more changes/additions coming in the future according to Chris. I covered the quality of their soft serve in a prev review so I don't feel that I have to review it again. They've added a second machine which has red bean & black sesame alongside the staple matcha & charcoal. Anyways, yummy soft serve as always (no more matcha powder clumps since the incompetent trainee was fired) and I needn't say more about it. I'm not a big fan of cheese foam so I will let someone else review those. I am, however, a big fan of milk tea. The ogasa milk tea and roasted milk tea might be some of the best milk tea I've tasted. Very unique flavor profile. They make your tea with a default sugar lvl but u can customize it to ur liking just like the 6 other bbt places at commerce gate. My friend and I got to try some rose milk tea on our most recent visit (not available to customers at the moment... I believe they are experimenting with it). It had a very strong floral taste and was more perfumey than the ogasa which was interesting. They are also using one of the most expensive roasted blends on the market. Since my last review, I've been able to try almost all the tapioca flavors. Here are my personal recommendations/rankings. 1) Sesame: BAZINGA! Hands down, best all-round (pairs well in most, if not all, of their drinks) flavor imo. I could chew on these for days. Ideally enjoyed with one of their milk teas. I wish they would make a batch of these everyday. 2) Sakura: fruity taste and goes well with milk or non-milk tea but paired best with a non-milk tea like golden melon, momo oolong or white peach oolong. 3) Mango: same as the sakura. Sometimes hit or miss with the flavor. The initial batch I first tried didn't have enough mango flavor. But each successive time it's been good. Best paired with non-milk tea. White peach oolong with mango taps is a go-to combo for moi. 4) Matcha: these were sometimes quite bitter, sometimes perfect. But when it was just right it paired nicely with non-milk tea. Particularly one of their matcha drinks, osmanthus or gold phoenix tea. 5) Butterfly Pea Flower: kinda tasted like a mix between blueberry and raspberry flavor. Extremely fruity taste. Again, paired best with non-milk tea. 6) Taro: these were above avg. Tbh, they tasted similar to the regular unflavored pearls you get at chatime. There's a hint of taro taste to differentiate from a regular pearl. Not a bad thing I guess cuz some ppl prefer less flavor in their tapioca. Paired best with one of their milk teas. 7) Crystal: plain jello taste. I thought it would taste like lychee but nah haha. Looks cool while sitting in your non-milk tea though. Reminds me of kanting jelly but I like the texture of kanting jelly more NOTE*: The grass jelly in their roasted milk tea is also made using proper brown sugar (the way it's made in taiwan) as opposed to regular white sugar which a lot of bbt places use. *ahem chatime im looking at u* STILL WANT TO TRY: sweet potato and purple yam tapioca. I'm hesitant to try strawberry tapioca cuz I think it might be too sweet. I know they used to serve tea mousse, but I'm not sure if they serve it anymore since the menu revamp. Make sure you call in or msg them on IG or FB to see what tapioca flavor they're making on a given day. Chris also informed me that he will likely be upgrading to a better cutting and rounding machine soon. Price-wise, I do believe they are matched fairly against the surrounding competitors (I call commerce gate, bbt haven lol) and while I appreciate that The Alley literally right next door makes great bbt and handcrafted tapioca as well, these guys also make quality bbt and their drinks are severely underrated imo. Come order and you be the judge!
So I finally got my hand with this internet viral ice cream White rabbit candy isn't really my childhood memory since it's not really a popular candy in Taiwan, but I was fortunate enough to try those candies during my visit in Shanghai many years ago. The flavour of the ice cream taste just like the candy, which is surprising but delicious. They also have many other flavours like vitasoy and more, in which is what they're famous for, childhood memory desert ice cream! I need to try out other flavours next time! read more
Location/Service Inside Commerce Gate Plaza. The store is a little hidden as the entrance is inside the plaza, but you can't miss it with the big green Matcha sign. Parking is available within the plaza (and there's underground parking too) Decor is similar to their downtown location, a very nice wallpaper of Taiwan/Japan/HK landscape. Not much seating available, so it's more a quick grab and go situation. Staff are friendly and helpful with any questions you have. There are samples available if you are curious to know what the icecream tastes like. Food Menu items are similar to the downtown location, but fewer options due to a smaller kitchen size. The go to item is their Matcha and Red Bean icecream, which you can go individual or a twist. Both very strong in their flavors, which fits to my personal taste and they compliment well as a twist. It is a little pricey compare to other places, but it is a higher quality of matcha. I also tried their matcha latte. Again, smooth to taste and not overly sweet. The cup however does get very very hot, so be careful. I think they will slowly expand their menu items with snacks available, so whenever you have a craving, be sure to swing by! read more

Although this place was tucked and hidden away inside the mall, the signs made it pretty easy to locate this store. Interesting childhood flavours like the white rabbit, Ovaltine and Horlicks beverage turned into bubble tea. It's tea has a pre mix of sweetness level. Bubbles were abit harder than the others that I've tried. Will have to be back for the ice cream next time. A small store, but cutely decorated too. read more

First Impressions ============= Clean, friendly staff! We got our order pretty quickly so good so far... Food ==== Ordered Vitasoy cone sand that's where it went downhill. SOFT-SERVE: it was ok--had Vitasoy Soyamilk taste, but it was watery. I think they're using actual cartons of Vitasoy, so maybe that's why. It was still nice but I don't think I'd order again. Then halfway down the cone (see photo) we found the center to be HOLLOW. Jeeze for $7 it feels like a rip-off to have a hollow centre. CONE: STALE. Kinda tastes like chewy styrofoam. Would I Come back? ================ Maybe to try their Signature Matcha and Waffle Cone. But definitely not going near the Vitasoy cones. There are certain times in life when you're meant to try its finer things. Sometimes you go on an island vacation. Sometimes you buy yourself a spa weekend. This time we splurged on some gold coated ice cream. To get our hands on one of these, we headed to Matcha Tea & Dessert in Markham. This dessert shop is a small establishment, tucked away in a plaza. Though there is no seating inside the shop, just outside you'll find some stools. So let's get to the burning questions... Does gold taste delicious?! Does it enhance my ice cream?! Not in the slightest. Don't expect the gold to somehow upgrade you dessert experience by awaking your taste buds to highbrow flavours. The gold is next to flavourless, (as long as you don't stick a lot of your tongue flat against a big piece of it). Your goal here is to enjoy the novelty of the experience. Raise your pinky finger high while you enjoy your cone. Or maybe stand a little taller and be more confident, because you're eating this to feel snazzy and be that guy/gal who eats gold for fun! Anyway, if you're curious, the ice cream itself was delicious. Theirs is based off white soybean Vitasoy, which made for a new flavour that I really enjoyed. Two of my minor annoyances are that on the two occasions I came before, during the first they were closed early, then during the second they ran out of ice cream. (Common...) I went here cause I heard that they had a collaboration with vitasoy and I definitely had to try it out. It's a limited time offer so make sure you get it before it's gone. I tried both their lemon tea and vitasoy I have to say vitasoy is the best one in my opinion due to the lemon tea not tasting anything as lemon tea, but nonetheless it's such a unique soft serve ice cream would be worth the try! This store has a nice array of soft serves. It includes matcha, charcoal, sesame, Earl Grey, red bean, and oolong. Their twist varieties include matcha with charcoal and Earl Grey with oolong the day I visited. I chose matcha with charcoal. TL;DR conclusion: Pros: * Lots of flavours for soft serve that aren't common * Workers speak fluent English * Limited seating is available * The regular cone is beautifully shaped * Clean * SPC discounts apply * Prices are reasonable * You can get gold or silver sheets on your soft serve Cons: * The soft serve is not as dense and rich (feels thin and the flavour seems a little watered down) * Can't use credit cards here * Need to drive to this location I'll probably come back to try the red bean soft serve if a friend wanted to go. However, because the ice cream itself lacks flavour, I will not go out of my way to return. read more

Great friendly service! Took the time to explain the flavours and what mix options are available. Their daily special was the marshmallow pink soft serve! Green tea flavour was not the best ive had, there were some bits in there which i think is the matcha powder. London fog was good - not too sweet and refreshing. My girlfriend had the charcoal and marshmallow and she enjoyed it! The color combo is so esthetic. Def worth trying (: they even gave us the special shovel spoon because he saw us taking photos! read more

3.5 Okay finally found time to grab a cone after seeing so many reviews I like how they change flavors every so often to keep people coming for more. This time there was vita melon and ramune (Japanese soda pop) the vita melon tasted pretty good better than the ramune I thought. A little pricey I thought for an icecream cone but it was worth a try. read more
I simply just can't recommend Matcha's soft-serve ice cream here. We initially tried coming here during the winter months but they were closed. After seeing the extensive coverage on social media, we were excited to try this place but it didn't meet expectations. We went with the matcha and charcoal twist which was $6 in a cone. The flavours and textures simply didn't resonate. Good ice cream is fundamentally creamy and matcha's soft serve was a lot more icy than it should have been. The end result is that you don't have that creamy, delicate smoothness. In addition, the ice cream tasted 'powdery' in texture and lacked flavour and boldness. The matcha was weak and dilute and the charcoal was entirely tasteless. To make matters worse, the soft serve is hallow in the centre, and the cone was practically leaking from the bottom and melted quickly; a sign that it's mostly water. That being said, matcha should focus on and would benefit from making a high quality soft-serve. A creamy, and smooth soft-serve with bold authentic flavours would do wonders instead of focusing on gimmicks. read more

After seeing many Instagram posts about this place and the collaboration they were doing with Vitasoy (my favourite childhood drink), I decided to check this place out. They only had the Japanese Ramune and Vita Lemon Tea flavour available but I tried them both anyways. First off, the Vita Lemon Tea was SO disappointing. It didn't taste like lemon tea at all and wasn't sweet enough for my liking. The flavour was so off I actually debated on buying an actual Vita Lemon Tea to remind me of how it tasted like. However, the Ramune flavour was pretty decent and is the only reason I'm giving 1 star. The soft serve itself was icy and wasn't creamy at all (tasted more like frozen yogurt). The cone tasted so cheap and stale that I couldn't even finish it. The bottom of the cone even started getting soggy and eventually soft serve started leaking from it. Overall, I won't be coming back again. Now excuse me as I'm going to go find the nearest grocery store and buy a pack of Vita Lemon Tea. read more
It's got interesting flavours of softserve especially the drinks of my childhood like vitasoy and ovaltine. I went to try ovaltine and it was okay, slightly malty, not mind blowing, like softserve version of a fudgcicle . Still nice because I like malt, but I'm not sure if I'd get it again. It's still nice to get frozen versions of childhood drinks. However just a warnifor around $6 a cone, the inside of the cone is hollow. I'm sad about that. ---- Hold up.... I had their Horlicks softserve today and remembering my childhood and the lovely creamy malty drink in frozen form .... I can't help but give it 1 more star from 3 stars to 4. read more
I tried this place with my daughters. Everyone was talking about it as they had vitasoy beverage drink flavoured ice cream. It was all right, nothing special to be excited about. My kids had the ovaltine and green tea. It did taste like the drink and smooth ice cream . I enjoyed the experience, but would I drive there purposely to get ice cream? I don't think so. but bonus, which was nice, they did give us 3 free drinks!! read more

We usually come here for the ice cream and really enjoy the variety of flavours! The innovative flavours are normally throwbacks to childhood memories. Make sure you follow the Instagram for specials and ask or you may not be offered the specials. -1 star for the price which is on the higher side. read more
Small unique place located in Commerce Gate plaza. Went on a Saturday afternoon and Thursday night. Atmosphere 4/5 Pretty small. It would definitely be very crowded during the summer for the small place. Only a few chairs to sit. More of a grab and go place. But cute decor, which matches their ice cream flavours available. I personally feel it is pretty neat. Not many places have white rabbit candy as pillows! Service 3/5 Typical average nice service, nothing really stands out. Food 4/5 They have very unique ice cream flavours. The days that I went they had Horlicks, Chinese White Rabbit Candy, Milo, and Ovaltine. The Horlicks and White Rabbit ice creams taste just like it. I enjoyed it. Definitely a lovely treat for yourself. As for price versus value, I have to say it is pretty pricy. You are paying roughly $7.00 per ice cream (soft) on either a cup or a cone. You are basically paying for their unique flavours. So if you just want your typical flavours like vanilla, then avoid this place like the plague. Otherwise it is worth for a try and a treat for yourself after having a bad or rough day. Not an everyday kind of treat. read more

One of the only places to get great matcha soft serve near Toronto! Visited for the limited time only vita soy flavoured soft serve. Let me tell you that it's exactly like vita soy in ice cream form! They did a good one with this. You you can also order one with gold on top but we didn't want to spend the extra cash on something that doesn't add flavour to the ice cream. It's really just gold to look nice for aesthetics. One less star because of the very small shop and it's a little bit disorganized and only one employee working at the time. read more
Came here before they started offering a bunch of different flavours. I think they started out with vanilla and matcha or maybe just matcha. Their matcha is pretty good and I would say one of the better ones, if not my favourite matcha soft serve (would need to try again to confirm since it's been a while). I don't have the same feelings about their other flavours though. When they announced the Vitasoy and lemon tea flavour, I went as soon as I could and they were out of both that day which it totally fine. I went back a few days later which was when they said the mix would come in. Uh... Vitasoy didn't taste like Vitasoy. I don't know what it tasted like but it was weird. At least it was smooth unlike the Lemon Tea one which was very icy. Lemon tea tasted like bubble tea though so I'm not sure what's going on there... Decided to give it another try and the next time I went, I got the malt Vitasoy (I might have gotten Horlicks/Ovaltine as well but I really can't remember if I did). Not good. So after both those poor experiences, I went again because how can you say no to ramune?! I honestly love ramune ice cream/soft serve. It's just so bomb so I was super disappointed when I got it and it didn't taste like all the others I've had nor was it good. Once again, it was weird. Ya... I'm just over this place and would only come for the matcha. I've had the rabbit candy one as well and I think this tastes most like what it's supposed to albeit a bit sweet you're looking to eat the whole cone yourself. My friend thought it was good and had no complaints though! If you're going to add good or silver foil, do the gold one because I didn't notice a taste with the gold but the silver one has a metal taste to it. Also, here's to hoping you get someone who tries to put the foil on nicely. Look at my gold pic vs my silver pic. Even the soft serve is done better on the gold. FYI, Cash or debit only. read more

TLDR: they have a lot of very unique "for the gram" icecreams. Is it worth it? I don't know. I used to work in an ice-cream store, so as you can imagine, I've eaten a lot of different ice-cream and enjoy doing so. I chose the charcoal soft serve on a regular cone. It was my first time having this flavour of ice-cream. And I recently had charcoal for the first time in the form of a cream puff from a grocery store. The charcoal ice-cream had tasted the same as the dark, enchanting cream puff: plain. Like nothing... Pretty disappointing. I found that the icecream wasn't even that sweet (which I guess is a good thing?) and the charcoal provided a grainy texture as the charcoal powder was kinda chunky. The flavour was like 1% milk if anything. Due to the lack of creaminess, it melted very quickly as it didn't hold as well as a regular vanilla soft serve. I thought that the regular cone was pretty and unique, but not as functional as the traditional cake cone with a grid at the bottom. My cone leaked within 1 minute of receiving my ice-cream and no, there was no hole or breakage. The point at the thin cone just collected the quickly melting ice-cream :) Overall, I feel like this treat is something one would only get for aesthetics or something to try once. Definitely not something someone would choose because they actually like the flavour. I wanted to try the gold foil cone but found it a bit expensive. Apparently this place also serves a lot of different flavoured Boba that comes in their bubble tea or SUNDAE! I think this is another unique thing they do and one that is for "the gram" as it isn't common and I haven't seen before. read more

The charcoal icecream was quite hyped all over social media. As someone who loves ice cream and the unique look of it it definitely made me want to try. The store is quite small and not much sitting space as expected of many ice cream establishments. The ice cream I got was the charcoal ice cream ordered with a charcoal cone. The ice cream itself had no flavor nor did the cone. It was a let down because I thought there would be some taste but what I got was just coldness. The ice cream is very photogenic but in terms of taste it lacks. Its not the cheapest ice cream and for me it truly is a one time thing. read more

Took off 2 stars because closing hours are inconsistent with their yelp page AND the sign on their door. As a business, it's your responsibility to update it and make sure it's accurate. Came here on 2 separate occasions well before 12 (their closing time) - once around 11 and once around 10 and they were CLOSED. Really deters me from wanting to come here again in the future because it's a waste of time if it's closed. Their softserves, however, are incredible. They only ever have 2 flavours at a time. I think they rotate between red bean & matcha and black sesame & matcha. The red bean soft serve is what I will keep coming back for as it's the only place I've ever seen do a red bean soft serve. It's creamy and not too sweet. Their matcha soft serve is also well done; the matcha flavour is very strong! I appreciate that they offer mini cones for those who don't want to commit to a full size cone. Oh and they allow you to sample the flavours if you ask :) read more
This is a small ice cream shop. They accept cash only and they change ice cream flavours weekly. We tried the White Rabbit Flavour as this was one of my childhood favourite. The taste was a bit disappointing. I wished the ice cream can be more creamy and taste more milky. FYI there is an ATM machine in the mall. read more
Edible gold ice cream is sold here and it definitely looks amazing! I have previously had this in Japan and would say that the price point is about double in Toronto. The flavours of the charcoal ice cream is not strong and it is not as concentrated as I would have hoped for (it looks grey rather than black). The cone does taste great though! Their matcha ice cream had a lot of heavy cream and the matcha flavour wasn't as strong as I had liked. Overall, I would recommend just trying the gold cone as it's quite unique! read more

When we came here for the first time, I tried their hot matcha latte with Sakura handcrafted tapioca. I thought the matcha flavour was actually pretty strong, despite the workers telling us that the matcha powder used in the drinks is slightly weaker than the one used in their matcha ice cream. We went back a second time 2 days ago, and I got the same drink (cold this time). However, the matcha flavour was not as pronounced this time. We plan to give their ice cream a try next time! read more
After dinner in the same plaza, we went to Matcha to try their soft serve. Originally I came to try out the Japanese Ramune flavour but they didn't have that. My 2nd choice was lemon tea which they also didn't have. I later found out that their flavours vary on a daily basis so you need to try your luck. There were 4 flavours available: 1) Green Tea 2) Ovaltine 3) Horlick 4) Vitasoy Malt Soya In the end we ordered 3 flavours except green tea. Horlick came with the charcoal sugar cone. Ovaltine & Vitasoy came with waffle cone. The owner explained because Ovaltine & Vitasoy is softer, the charcoal sugar cone wouldn't be able to hold the ice cream. Horlick was a bit too sweet and the cone tasted like regular sugar cone. Ovaltine tasted like chocolate soft serve which was expected because that's what Ovaltine basically is. Vitasoy was my favourite because it wasn't as sweet. The texture was very similar to the Taiwanese ice cream which I personally like a lot! The cone was big enough and it was very filling. I look forward to trying the Japanese Ramune & lemon tea flavour next time! read more

Came here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. They had 3 flavors available: white rabbit, Horlick, and Milo. We ordered the Milo and Horlick soft serve. The Horlick has great flavor, I would recommend getting that. The Milo comes with charcoal. I didn't really taste much of any chocolate flavor or any flavor. Because it has charcoal mixed in it does leave your mouth black and it's hard to come off. This place sells the gold ice cream or silver ice cream - it's around $11 for the gold and around $10. We didn't get it but I think you can add it to any soft serve you order. Parking is hard to find, typical for commerce gate. Shop is small, no place to sit and eat your ice cream. I came to try the vita soy milk and malt soy milk soft serve. Actually the two are very similar. I can taste the soy milk in them, as I love drinking vita soy, I like it. Feels like I am having tofu ice cream. Yet, it is a little sweet when I am half way and I didn't like the cone. $6.5 is pretty expensive too. Average. Would still come back to try out the sea salt ice cream. read more

The ice cream has a very rich flavour of matcha and dairy. The ice cream is very cold and I seems to taste the matcha tea leaves in the ice cream. The texture of the ice cream seems to be in the middle of the soft and hard ice cream. It is good and will definitely come back again. ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ . . ~ Came back in 2018 summer and tried the limited special flavours of vitasoy and lemon tea. I live the vitasoy flavour more. The flavour is more rich and really close to the soy milk taste. I am anticipating more new flavours soon. read more

Small little shop that serves great matcha treats. I got the matcha soft serve while my bf got the swirl (matcha and charcoal). I got the regular cone. The actual ice cream had a nice subtle matcha taste and it was a bit grainy (I kinda liked that tho) there was nothing special about the cone though, it tastes like styrofoam. The charcoal was interesting but the flavor was very subtle, it came with some tapioca and lychee balls that gave it an interesting texture. read more
I finally got to check this place out and it's a cute little matcha shop with a good selection that you don't get so confused on what to order. I got the matcha soft serve and really enjoyed it. It's in my top places to go to for matcha soft serve. A must try if ur in the area. read more

I had their twist (matcha + red bean) mini cone a few days ago, and I already forgot about it. Uh oh. If you are a red bean ice cream fan, you will like their red bean soft serve because it's quite tasty and similar to the ice cream tubs you get in Asian supermarkets. But then again....you can also just get the tubs from Asian supermarkets. I don't really remember their matcha flavour very much--not very memorable. I think it might have been over powered by the red bean ice cream, or there wasn't as much TEA taste as I was expecting. I do think that the matcha and red bean flavour complimented each other much better than Tendou's matcha and black sesame. However, they are more expensive here, and so I probably won't be frequenting Matcha Tea & Dessert when there's cheaper options with equally decent matcha soft serve elsewhere. Overall, it was a satisfactory ice cream cone, and the red bean soft serve is pretty unique in Markham (though not any better than the ones you get from supermarkets). Nonetheless, I might stop by again if I'm in the area and I feel like splurging. read more
