This Hollywood location was next to Memorial Regional Hospital and Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital. When you pull up, the only parking option is a mandatory valet that is also complimentary. Akumin on the 2nd floor. Our appt was 8am and they ask you to arrive 15 min prior to complete paperwork. Once we were checked in, the x-ray technician, Rafael called us back. He placed a heavy lead apron on his neck and lower back to block out the radiation. He was only getting his hand scanned today, but it's interesting how it works with only certain areas covered. The scan only took a few minutes. Rafael asked if we wanted a CD of the bone scan and we said yes. We went to a waiting room while he helped another patient and then came back and got us the CD image and we were done. Akumin is quick and efficient. The paperwork process was quick and painless and the bone scan only took 10 min. Overall, we were probably in and out within 30 min max. So nice! Rafael was very friendly and patient with my son. The shake I had to drink at midnight and at 6 Am was not terrible because I put it in the refrigerator the night before to drink, yuck .They have this office freezing cold .. I had to drink some more of vanilla shake and then was placed in that CT machine with my arms over my head which killed me because my arm and shoulder injury, they really pushed me beyond . This really hurt my arm and shoulder that was already in pain to more pain. Glad its all over and I will have my results soon. I walked up to the reception desk. Two ladies were working. One was on a personal call and ignored me after seeing me. The other one after noticing it assisted me. She was professional and attentive. My wait time was not very long. I was then asked to move to another waiting room. This second waiting room had a door. This door was heavy and when you have back pain, painful. It was hard to open. It took my two hands to keep it from closing on me. My wait time in the second room was brief. I was taken to get the X-rays. The technician was very nice and professional. I had some difficulties getting on and off the hard X-ray table. I completely understand that is not the technician's job due to liabilities to interfere unless trained but I struggled. I was awkward, like a turtle in pain on its back. I wish they had rails or something on that table to make things easy for patients to get on and off. The customer service was good. I did not have to wait long. Sometimes is the little things we take for granted that make a difference.

No one explained anything until I asked. After a family emergency caused me to miss the two-day follow-up, the receptionist -- rude, unprofessional, and careless -- refused to help and said I had to redo everything. They were rough during the exam and even left bruises on me. I paid $120 and had to fight just to get $80 back. If I had her name, I would report them to the health department in a heartbeat. Annual exams are necessary but not fun. Annual exams of 'private parts' are even less fun - and…read morewhen they're done to identify cancer and other diseases it can also be nerve-wracking...but not at this office. This practice was once called Tufts Mammography Center, run by a well-respected physician who specialized in assessment of breast tissue. Dr. Tufts passed away; his wife and staff now devote themselves to the care of former and current patients who seek excellent assessment of breast tissue. The office has moved (no more huge aquarium in the waiting room) and they now have state-of-the art x-ray equipment and ultrasound rooms, and a well-qualified physician and tenured staff in a very clean and organized office. Today I went for my annual mammogram and had an ultrasound exam as well. After checking in, I was escorted to a dressing room that has lockers to store patients' clothes and comfy exam tops that are in sealed plastic bags. There are clearly marked wipes for patients who want to use them before and after exams (ingredients like underarm deodorant and powder can't be used before exams). There's a large mirror too to help patients feel 'put together' when they leave the room. They created an atmosphere of patient care and courtesy and this room reflects it. The x-rays are 3-D, which lends to easier and more accurate assessments. The ultrasound room is set-up for optimum patient comfort and technician use. Even the ultrasound gel was warmed - I really appreciated that. The tech was thorough and personable - I didn't feel awkward, which was great. I met with the physician after the mammogram and ultrasound and she told me that everything looked good. I was glad. She had several monitors at her desk and many x-ray images on the monitors. It was great to get results at the end of the x-ray and ultrasound sessions - when I left I was done - they are in my medical insurance network and will file the claim on my behalf, and I had my results. I will return next year with confidence that I'm in good hands, as I have for the past 14 years.
