Has been an absolute pleasure being a parent of Mathnasium Calabasas. The kids love going and ask me what day of the week they are going- are eager to attend. I saw an immediate deeper interest in math and then after probably 1-2 weeks later I saw a jump in all their math. They are steady improving and love the subject now. I get wonderful reviews for each of my children after they attend and I really enjoy reading how much the instructors care. They also give you periodic updates when the child masters atopic which is really wonderful. Lastly, the reward system they use definitely works. I'm not entirely sure how it works but my kids are beyond engaged with the card system and the ability to buy toys from it. They also wrote all of my children handwritten cards for their birthday. Each instructor wrote on it, and it was so touching place is the greatest. We did Kumon for math there's absolutely no comparison this is very very deep understanding and has been a dream. read more

BEWARE!! If your child is in high school, or any upper level math, they will not be able to help you and will not honor their promise for a refund or to stop auto charging. I signed my daughter up because she was struggling a little in her high school level Algebra II class. I was assured that Mathnaseum would be able to significantly improve her skills and help with Algebra. From the start she was provided Geometry worksheets that were way too easy. When I asked why she wasn't working on Algebra, I was told they needed to review Geometry first. Week after week, more easy geometry while even the tutors told her that it was too easy for her. When she asked for Algebra sheets, she was told they hadn't "photocopied any more of those yet". Ok, fine, what I really wanted was homework help. 99% of the time, the tutor helping her with her homework had no idea how to solve the equations. She was told by tutors that they didn't know how to do that, and shoved off to another tutor. When she finally found one that SEEMED to know, that tutor told her that she was doing it wrong. Period. She would not tell her why it was wrong or how to fix it. So, after 2 of the 3 months we agreed to, I contacted ALEX at the Calabasas location. I have a very long thread of many text messages (that I would be happy to post here), promising me a refund for the second month, and promising that I would not be charged for the third. To nobody's surprise, I did NOT receive that refund, and my card was charged for the third month, even though we were never there. ALEX is no longer responding to my calls or texts. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Its very expensive, no help at all, and they lie to the customer. read more

I took my daughter to Mathnasium Calabasas for three years. I canceled my membership 12/2022. They acknowledged this cancelation via email and in person, yet they continue to bill me monthly. I reached out via phone and email asking for my account to be credited these 4 months of false charges. The manager, Alex, refuses to handle it. Try Kumon. It doesn't need to be this hard. I will never again go to Mathnasium after this. They've charged me nearly $1,700 at this point so I will need to go to small claims court to resolve this. If you absolutely must go to Mathnasium, ask which locations that franchisee owns - - if they own the Calabasas location, RUN. read more

We have nothing but great things to say about the Calabasas Mathnasium! My two children ages 12 and 7 have been going to Mathnasium for about 6 months and we have seen a huge increase in their number fluency, comprehension, skill set, mastery and aptitude for math. Previously we did Kumon and a private tutor but those solutions were not very effective. What I love most about the Mathnasium concept is that they assess your child's individual skill set and then create customized programs to teach them what they need to master and they can come in and practice several times a week which is key. I also love that I can bring my kids whenever it's convenient for our schedule and they can come before a test for specific "test prep". The staff at this location are really amazing with the kids and do a great job of building relationships and bonds with them. Even though my experience here was not long, it was both beneficial and very enjoyable. Morgan as well as the previous Manager, Hannah are two amazing people who works hard to make sure Mathnasium is a productive place of study. Gio, the assistant director is very knowledgeable in all areas of math. I am currently in Algebra II/ Trigonometry Honors and Gio has no troubles in dealing with these abstract(at least to me) topics. From the first session my daughter had, with the professionals at Mathnasium, I knew her skills and most of all her confidence would grow. It is so refreshing to see the professionals smiling, patient and understanding while working with my daughter. Well it's hard for me to give this two stars just for the Calabasas location since my daughter started at the woodland hills location and then transfer. So Calabasas don't take this review personally, it is reflection on your method. My daughter was not a struggling student.She is B+, A- math student but wanted to master her math skills and even get a head start before entering high school. Her initial assessment in Mathnasium Woodland Hills showed she is in a fourth grade level, I was shocked and my daughter panicked. We took it with her math teacher and the school principal. They assured us that looking at her grades and state testing scores the results are simply impossible. However, we decided to give it a try, we thought it cant harm to get a good overview and make sure no math skill left unattended. 4 months and $1600.00 later she is still working on forth grade skills, her tutor agree it is easy for her..... So, it might work for many struggling students but keep in mind that their best math is handling their checking account. read more

My son transferred from the Woodland Hills location to the Calabasas location. I prefer Mathnasium to Kumon because he can do his school homework here part of the time as well as doing the Mathnasium curriculum. It is great to have the tutors work with him here. The location is close to school and my son likes going here. Vanessa is very nice and often my son gets individual attention. He goes 2-3 times per week. read more

My 3rd grader loves this place. My son is smart, but in a challenging classroom, (flip classroom, learn at home and review at school). My wife and I both work a ton and can't commit to this task. Therefore, we did extensive homework on the best tutoring option. We found that there are too many distractions in the home setting. Secondly, many of the other classroom settings had an undesirable ratio. The other thought with mathnasium is to get our child to excel in the toughest subject to ultimately give him confidence in others. So far so good, he's had 3 tests since we joined and he's got all A's. We will re-evaluate if Vanessa, (manager) ever left. She's the lifeline to this place, she follows up consistently, thrives on feedback and runs a great program. If she does leave, hopefully it's because she's taken a job with my company. I'm so pleased with Mathnasium Calabasas. We tried Kumon which my daughter refused to go back by the second week. We have a close friend that recommended MC. So, this past summer, we decided to give it a try. They're a dedicated group, and obviously enjoy what they do. They've created a love of learning math for my daughters, and are equally concerned with wanting me to be up-to-date with what they're doing, too. This place is amazing!!! Our daughter was struggling with math for the last 3 years and is mastering her deficits in a really short amount of time. She gets the help, love and kindness from the wonderful people that work there. Evan, a phantasmic leader with loads of love, skills and patience, Allen, a great tutor, who our daughter really likes and Vanessa, who is a great asset to the center. What I appreciate most about the program (from an academic standpoint) is the focus on conceptual learning in addition to rote memorization. Learn the concept, understand it, then repetitively practice it. This environment is wonderful for my 8 year old daughter, who regularly feels a sense of accomplishment upon completion of her tasks. The center also wisely uses a system of rewards to entice learning and reward improvement. From a personnel standpoint, everyone whom I have met has extraordinary patience when teaching children, a deep knowledge of the curriculum, and the skill to effectively and successfully implement the personalized plan developed for each student. My daughter is not nearly as intimidated by math as she once was. I highly recommend Mathnasium of Calabasas for any child looking to improve and develop their math skills. Give them a call and talk to the director, Vanessa (who is an incredible person; she repeatedly and expertly engages my four year old son in learning math skills, thereby distracting him from playing He-Man video games on my phone). She will explain the system to you and set your mind at ease about it.
