Since our kids go to an elementary school with a no homework policy, we also wanted to build the daily practice of doing homework in preparation for the transition when they will eventually have school homework (because I've heard from parents how much of a struggle that is). We started because our oldest had an affinity for learning and he really wanted to read. We knew that it was time to put him in Kumon, because I used to work with hundreds of students of all age ranges and what I would see is a lack of a strong foundation in their math and reading. We knew that Kumon's structured learning curriculum and individualized lesson planning would ensure that our kids would have a strong foundation with no holes. We were right. Our oldest learned all his sounds, built phonemic awareness, and was reading books by the time he turned five years old. Now he's in 2nd grade and working three years above his grade level in math. He has gained strong mental math ability through his daily practice with Kumon, and it amazes us how quickly he can work with large numbers and process multiple steps in his head. Our youngest is completely different from his sibling. It takes him a lot longer to learn a new concept. Thankfully the Kumon program is designed for kids like him too who need more repetition and the lesson plans are individualized to his learning ability. He continues to progress forward while making sure there are no gaps in his learning. Nikita has been a great partner in ensuring both of our kids are working at their own individualized pace. Since then, she's been getting straight A's in math, scoring nearly 100% on most of her tests, and continues to stay in the advances class in 8th grade. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. I signed my daughter up for their summer math…read moreprogram hoping to give her a head start heading into 2nd grade. I paid their $800 fee up front, made our first appointment through their system and showed up. They had no idea who we were and why we were there. Apparently she needed to finish up her assessment which we had almost completed the first time we went to the location. We were told by the person there that Robert tends to tell parents the assessment is much shorter to complete than it is to get them into the facility. She completed the assessment during the session and while I was talking with the person there, he proceeded to shout back to another child to do their work. My daughter was so uncomfortable the entire time she was there, and once I witnessed this interaction, there was no way I felt comfortable with her attending. I emailed the location and explained my experience and asked for a refund since no services had been rendered - only the initial assessment. I received a phone message from Robert stating we would be refunded yet after another 6 weeks, we still saw no credit on our account. I contacted them again and then received an e-mail from Robert that our refund request had actually be declined by 'ownership' and he offered to put a credit towards 1:1 tutoring or their school year program. I told him tutoring during the school year does not work for us because our daughter is highly involved in sports and there's no room in her schedule once her fall season starts and requested the owners' direct contact information. I received another voicemail message from Robert stating again that my refund request has been declined and my only way forward is to call my credit card company and ask for a charge back from the facility. What absolutely terrible customer service. Now I'm still fighting with them for a refund and again asked for the owner's contact information which I still have not been provided. I even called the number and received an answer from a call center and they too would not provide it. I would caution anyone looking to sign your child up you give it good thought. Once you pay them, you will NOT get your money back regardless of your experience.

After using part of the program, we experienced concerns regarding the instructional quality and teaching experience. We even requested a teacher change during the program due to teaching style concerns. Unfortunately, the issues persisted and the program became a source of frustration and stress for our child. We decided to discontinue the program with 44 hours still unused. What surprised us most was that despite having approximately $2,468 worth of unused hours remaining, the center refused any refund and relied entirely on a non-refundable policy. The only options offered were to keep the package on hold indefinitely or continue using services that were no longer working for our child. My advice to other parents: do not prepay for a large package unless you are completely certain the program, teachers, and teaching style are the right fit for your child. Teaching quality and student experience are important factors that cannot be fully evaluated in advance, and if problems arise later, you may have no practical way to recover the unused balance. I am sharing this experience so other families can make an informed decision before committing thousands of dollars upfront.

There's boba, lots of restaurants, and even a dog grooming spot in the same complex so we'll grab dinner, have a quick boba date, or get our dog groomed while waiting.
