Love this program! Last year, my daughter was struggling through third grade math. Which meant that…read moreI, myself, was struggling through her math pains. Homework would take hours. I found that I had to teach the math over again when she got home from school because she did not understand the various concepts (thank goodness for youtube math vids!) My husband and I spoke with several Learning Centers and finally chose to enroll her in Kumon- Mukilteo. I am so thankful that we did. She attends Kumon every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-5pm. Initially, I was hesitant about committing to taking her to a specific time every week. But the Program Managers, Ivan and Gwen are very flexible. You simply fill out a form for vacations or requests for changing your schedule times. Kumon offers Math and Reading. They recommend enrolling children in both. However, at the time, our 8 year old daughter was reading at a 6th grade level and we did not find it necessary to enroll her in anything but Math. Everyday, my daughter has about 10 minutes of Kumon homework. Regardless of how old you are, you need to start off with the basics. The older kids often get frustrated with this because they think the work is "too easy." But Kumon wants to ensure that you have the BASICS down before they add more difficult work. Kumon believes that if you have the fundamentals down, the rest of math will be learned much easier. This year, my daughter is kicking butt in school. The Kumon work is putting her well in advance to her 4th grade work. At school, she is currently learning how to multiply in multiple digits. Our daughter has already learned this at Kumon and is currently working on long division. Recently, Kumon Manager, Gwen has informed us that our daughter has a chance for making Kumon's 2018 Honor Roll! Yay! Thank you, Kumon!

From the owner: Kumon of Mukilteo is part of the world's largest after-school math & reading program, helping…read morechildren of all ages become self-learners.

Our child was experiencing difficulty in many school subjects as early as elementary school. These academic struggles created a great deal of stress and anxiety for our child as well as her teachers. She found schoolwork frustrating and did not feel successful. Our child has been with That Tutoring Place since elementary school and is now a successful junior in high school. That Tutoring Place has helped our child in all subjects in countless ways. They have helped her prioritize and organize, develop good study habits, break down difficult assignments in more manageable and understandable ways, assist her with test preparation and provide direction and encouragement. As a result, our daughter has been able to achieve her academic goals and most importantly, feel successful. I know of no other tutoring services that provide this level of service in all subjects with such dedicated staff for a most reasonable price. I highly recommend That Tutoring Place. Your child will benefit enormously from their services."

You will get a lot of one on one attention, and communication about your child's progress at That Tutoring Place. The atmosphere is very relaxed and I think this has made my child's experience better. It's less intimidating and makes her feel comfortable. She loves that they have snacks and Gatorade too. There are kids of all ages studying and doing homework, and I think it is great for my elementary aged daughter to see high school students working away at their homework as well. My child's tutor, Ms. Sonia has been so patient and caring. I have seen so much parent communication from the owner and you can tell they really care about helping kids succeed, and treating children and adolescents with respect and care. I am so happy I found this tutoring service in our community!

Though I've never been tested for it, I check right down the list for it as I've struggled with math all my life. I was trying to pass the West B teacher certification and had taken the math portion already five times and failed when Dimona was recommended to me. I was hesitant because I had been informally tutored with several math teachers that I knew preparing for this test. I went ahead and booked my first session with her. From the first session, I knew this time would be different, as she talked about understanding how I saw thing visually and my struggle was how math had been taught to me in the past. We started fresh and built a foundation. I understood concepts for the first time because of the way she broke them down. If I was struggling with a concept, she tried several ways to explain it better to me. She was patient and compassionate with my comprehension or lack of it when I wanted to quit. She cheered me on and reassured me I could pass this test and understand so much more than I ever thought I could! The next time I took the test, I passed it! She did in three months what no one else was able to do for me in a year of studying. I am grateful for her sharing her gifts with me.
