Meet the Business Owner: Karen R.

Karen has a background in business but her passion is working with kids in an educational setting. She graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Business Administration. She has worked in accounting for Ford Motor Land, Ryder Systems and Chrysler Financial. Karen left the corporate world to help raise her family and jokingly notes she took early retirement while still in her 30's. Karen has been active in the local school district and served as Vice President of the high school PTO. She has been a Faith Formation teacher at her church teaching students in grades 1-8. Before opening Mathnasium she was a substitute teacher for Forest Hills Public Schools. Karen loves working with children and wants to help students love math by teaching them in a way that makes sense. Karen was excited about combining her enthusiasm for education with Tom's business background. Karen will serve as the Center Director of Mathnasium of Grand Rapids - East.
