I have so many ridiculously great things to say about this guy, I don't even know where to start.
First of all, we met him on the day of our home inspection for one of our houses. We had hired an incredible home inspector, the "Columbo" of home inspectors, the "inspector Clueso" of home inspectors, so the whole process took just under ten hours. Matt stayed there with us the entire time. He was so funny and fun and represented his clients with so much dignity and aplomb, my husband and I had made a note to each other that if we were to ever have another real estate transaction, Matt would be the person we'd hire.
Over time, our family increased in size and we needed a bigger home and a larger yard. We had thought we wanted to move into Laurel Canyon so we decided to use a real estate person with Laurel Canyon expertise, but ultimately, we were unable to find the yard we wanted in the hills, so we moved back into Studio City. Matt remained friendly with us throughout that process regardless of whether we used him as our real estate person or not. Again, Dave and I promised each other that if we were to ever move again, Matt would be our guy.
Many years later, our family was hit with hard times. My husband had lost his job, and I had had a string of bad luck in my business. We called Matt and told him we needed to sell our house and that we were finally, after all these years, going to hire him. He came over with an incredibly slick folder filled with comps, photos and strategies as to how he was going to go about the sale, but before he started with his pitch, he asked us the most important question a real estate person can ask: "Why do you guys want to sell your house?" I burst into tears, while my fella explained our difficult circumstances. Matt said he didn't want us to move out of the neighborhood and that he'd see what he could do to help us out. He put us in touch with people who changed the terms of our loan. Not many real estate people would have done that. Our house had appreciated considerably, nearly doubled its worth since we bought it. He could have made an easy fortune, but instead, he was more motivated by what he thought was the right thing to do for us. I truly believe Matt and Jane are real estate people because they, not only love the thrill of the game, but they care about people. Matt cared about seeing us through our hard time. This is an honorable human being.
We were happy in that home for a long time until our street became infested with McMansions and the type of people who purchase McMansions. Our children were teenagers and engaged in activities in the west valley. It was time to move. The speed, the efficacy, the seamless transition that Matt had orchestrated between the sale of the old house, the hunt and the negotiation with the purchase of our new house -- was awe-inspiring. We got top dollar for our house, almost a half a million dollars more than the person two doors down with the same sized lot who had used another real estate person. Matt had created a bidding war. It was incredible.
My husband had a blast with Jane searching for our new home, and when they found it, a couple of months and multiple offers later, we blazed a trail. I have never been happier in a house. We have a pool and view and delightful neighbors with taste.
My husband and I often sit out on our back patio overlooking all of Woodland Hills at night admiring the stars. Periodically, I'll elbow him and say, "Dude . . . this does not suck," and he'll smile back and say, "No, honey. it doesn't suck." We have Matt and Jane to thank for that.
There are not enough stars as an option for this Yelp review. Matt is a gifted real estate person and an honest, kindhearted man. read more
