My siblings and I received the settlement payments from our deceased mother's case yesterday. I would just like to say that I am truly disappointed in how they cheat and treat these people that have endured pain, had surgeries, and died from the IVC filter. Yet the only ones to profit were the attorneys. If my mother were alive to receive a $1600 check after waiting over 7 years she would have been humiliated. I'm sure they gained quite a bit of interest holding that settlement money for all these years. What they did was simply wrong, plain and simple. It amazes me how people can live with themselves and look in the mirror each morning after doing this to all the victims that suffered. Absolutely they are in my opinion the worse settlement group to deal with - delays continue along with zero communication and many broken deadlines for payout. Our state attorney general has advised us to keep all communication, make a detailed timeline and then contact the clerk of the court for current status as well as the Texas ethics board if this is not settled in the next 10 days. I've been reading all of the one-star reviews on this law firm, and at least I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that's feeling this way. I'm handling my brothers finances. All of this started back in 2017, and there's been very little response. DO NOT USE!!!!! This is the most unethical law firm I've ever dealt with. Our settlement was resolved in May 2022. It is now Sept 2023 and no a single dime has been sent to me. They will not take your calls. They claim to always be experiencing higher than average call volume. Um...if that's ALWAYS the case then you don't understand averages. It's the norm. The people that you will speak with are extremely rude and very condescending. I spoke with an attorney in May 2023 and she explained I'm detail what happened. In August 2023, I got an email from the office telling me exactly what I was told in May but they said it just happened. Bullshit. I knew about the delay months before they told clients and they lied about the timeline because I have proof. They've either stolen our money,(maybe Tom Girardi works for them)or they are compounding interest on our money. I accepted a settlement on a case back in September of 2021. I'm still waiting for my pay out. First it was to be by the end of 2022, then it was by the end of the first quarter of 2023, now its by the end of June. I have been waiting on a settlement that I signed back last year it has been numerous time changes for when it will be settled in writing and then they swear they never said that. I now keep all messages etc how was a case settled but claimants not paid over a year later and just excuses as to why. I am also with the IVC lawsuit. signed release over a year ago , they keep giving dates and taking them back . They keep saying we're in fund distribution phase since June. Now there saying there firm only help with certain aspects and funds have went back to primary firm and they will distribute them. I am the father of a young lady that had the unfortunate accident and had a IVC placed. This kaw firm settled and has not giving her settlement to her. Although they keep saying that it would be 30 days. It's been longer. She can't work after having her spine 1/2 her spine replaced. I used my retirement to pay her bills. I would like to know if any of the IVC filter clients have actually been paid their full settlement money. I keep seeing statements from other IVC filter clients about getting small payouts and then nothing. It's not just on this website but also on a few others sites as well. The law firm claims that archer (the lien resolution company hired by Matthews) states that there are liens that have not been fully cleared yet. So no further payouts are made. There is also the loan delay statement that gets used as well by the law firm. Its just another excuse. If I'm not mistaken I believe Matthews and Associates did not allow loans against a client's settlement money. I wonder how many IVC filter clients think that they are the only ones that this is happening to? You are not alone. I believe this is happening to all IVC filter case clients. This company is a full of crap, I signed my IVC case with another lawyer after I was told I did not have a case then 4 years later I find out they have my case they never once tried to contact me until a settlement came in. I was given different dates when it would be settled, they never looked at my medical records I have had 7 heart attacks, 2 strokes and over 40 PE's they did not even know about. I would call and call and get told a different date and that date would go buy then I got a $11k check and told I would get the rest in 8 week but that lawyer left the company and new lawyer would call when I would start bugging them its like I would get a small check to go away. In three years I have dealt 4 lawyers with firm and every single one of them moves on to new jobs. I got told it was the liens that was holding it up so I called Archer the company who works on liens for them and in 24 hrs I got more done then they had in 9mths now my Medicare ( which I did not even know I had Medicare lien) it is closed now and for 2 weeks now I have been trying to get someone to call me back first it was the lawyer was to busy or they are waiting answer from accounting department they say they will call back and I still not a single call from them. I have to threaten to call AG anybody else I can think of. BTW if you look them up they white wash their reviews if I would saw their reviews I would never let them take over the case with other firm that company has already settled and paid out all of its clients over a year ago on the IVC. read more

I opened my case in 2015 and finally took my case in 2017 I signed settlement offer last year I believe it was September or October sometime in there. However every date this lawfirm sent out came and went first January 31st 2023 to March 31st 2023 to April to no update to 14-21 business days to mid July and now end of July its end of July with 1 business day left and no update no payout just more excuses I know these things take time. But you don't get peoples hopes up that are financially struggling and are highly relying on their settlements. Not only that but I'm sure all of us that had a IVC filter had complications I went through 2 surgeries acute kidney failure 2 weeks in the hospital away from my kids and also lost alot of blood and not to mention the pain and trauma and continued issues now with my kidneys because of surgical clips that were left in. Although This firm settled my case against Astra Zenica for Seroquel diabetes, They witheld almost Two thousand dollars from my settlement checks to cover any possible Medicare liens against me concerning this claim. I have informed Firm NUMEROUS times I DID NOT have Medicare at time of dianosis and treatment,nor has there EVER been a Medicare lien against me. I have been waiting TWO YEARS to be reimbursed these funds,yet EVERY time I call I am told "These things take time and Please call back in two weeks" ! I feel this is NO WAY to treat a Client..I suspect that their policy is to hold these funds as long as possible,drawing interest into the firms coffers.
