This was such a fun and great experience. Whether you're a believer or not this tour will keep you entertained! Matt, Mark, Mike whatever his real name may be, lol, is HILARIOUS. His energy is positive, friendly, empathetic and knows his history about Galena. The tour lasts about 2.5 hours and this is a walking-ish tour. You walk from pub to pub and then stay at each spot for about 45 mins. You stop at 2 different places where you will be served with drinks (additional purchase) and lots of history and ghost stories. You will be provided a ghost energy meter and also have the option to speak with a spirit. It's a very cool experience and a lot of fun! read more

We attended on 11/11/2023. We got to visit 2 places and found the tour to be fun and very informative. Matthew is very charismatic and funny. He tells stories of the ghosts and also you get a ton of history in his event. I wouldn't really call it a a "pub crawl." If you're hoping for a typical bar crawl with many stops and drinks at each stop, this isn't it. We did get the opportunity for a drink at each of our two stops, and those came out quickly, but it was more about the storytelling. Overall, excellent tour, great information, interesting history. He also picked a volunteer to use the dowsing rods which was really cool. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Galena, first timer or somebody who's been there many times before! read more

Matthew is the BEST! This past weekend I went on my THIRD tour with him. I took a group of my girlfriends on a girl's weekend and this was our number one activity for the weekend. Every time I have been on this tour, I learn new things and have new scares. Matthew's is so knowledgeable about Galena and about all the spooky things happening there. My fiancé and I have been on the tour two other times together. Each bar and spot in the pub crawl is always so welcoming and accommodating. This time I had the pleasure of meeting Miss Kitty who owns two restaurants in Galena. We have done the tour in winter, summer, and now fall. Each time is better than the last. I can't wait to bring more people to this tour. I am going to be having a Bachlorette party in the area in the next few months and we will be hiring Matthew for a private ghost tour bar crawl. To say I was a bit skeptical would be an understatement. First and foremost, Matthew is extremely entertaining, knowledgeable of Galena history and incredibly interesting. Was excited to go on a pub crawl, and was under the understanding it would be a walking tour. Spent over and hour and 15 minutes at the first place being lectured and really only able to get one drink. Also think this was because he was waiting for a bachelorette party that was extremely late, so the tour was extended without notice. People coordinated rides and shuttles with their hotels and inns, so we were some who got up and left mid-lecture to ensure we didn't miss it. Then the second place we walked through the pub to a dank storage room of the bar with old lawn chairs and furniture to sit in next to the bar's food storage and proceeded to get more of a lecture and look at pictures other people took. The bartender was overwhelmed with how big our group was and barely could get our drinks in any sort of fashion. We left before the tour was over (went over designated time), but only went to 2 places and barely got 2 drinks the whole night. Also time of the tour caused us to miss the whole Halloween parade, would've been more fun being at a pub enjoying it with the tour and actually walk Main Street to get the full tour and vibe of the haunted Galena legends. read more

Neither location had any specific story or spiritual connection but rather we're locations that a group of 40 could fit in as space and order drinks. Matthew's Haunted Pub Crawl was by far an amazing experience in Galena. "Matthew" was a great tour guide, who had so much insight about the history and tragedies of Galena. The tour was also very interactive, as he provided EMF detectors for us to use to find the spirits. He also demonstrated how to use dowsing rods to interact further with spirits. While Matthew has great energy and is a good story teller, I was unimpressed by this tour. I was expecting stories about ghosts pertaining to the pubs visited but what we really did was walk to two blah bars and one Mexican restaurant (with watered down margaritas) and talk about a couple of ghost stories and look at pictures that didn't have anything to do with the stops on the tour. Also, we spent a ton of time at the first stop as one guest used the dousing rods. This was super boring, went on way to long, and she cried. Total downer. He should have redirected for the sake of everyone else. I would skip this tour and try one of the bus tours, maybe that will actually take you someplace creepy. read more

What a fantastic haunted tour! We will be going on this tour probably every time we visit Galena from now on. "Matthew" is super knowledgeable about the area and provides several stories about the history of Galena, the various hauntings throughout the city, and in particular, the buildings on Main street. We walked to three different bars fairly close to each other and were at each location for approximately 45min-1hr. EMF detectors were provided, and "Matthew" demonstrated how people can use dowsing rods to interact with spirits in the area. "Matthew" also provided me with tips on how to best capture spirits using the camera on my phone- we were able to capture several pictures at the end of the evening while walking back to our car. The distance between locations is only a couple of blocks at most. My physically handicapped spouse was able to walk the distances with ease. I would recommend having cash on hand (to avoid ATM fees) for drinks, as some of the locations were cash-only. For the ghost story enthusiast, I definitely recommend this tour over any of the others. We did Amelia's Ghost Bus Tour on our last visit, and Matthew's Ghost Tour was 100% better. read more

OMG!!! What a waste of money and time. The tour was completely pointless. OMG!!! It was boring, the group was too big and "Matthew" did not engage with most of the group. OMG!!! Ghost finding gadgets were handed out but never used. What was the point. OMG!!! Boring stories were told and photos shown of other people on other tours that had an encounter. What was the point. OMG!!! Given that "Matthew" peppered in "Oh my God" and/or "ok" and/or "you guys" after just about every sentence, listening to him was unbearable. UNBEARABLE! OMG, you guys, OK!!!! I'm not even considering the unique issues COVID19 added to the evening: "Matthew" could only find two instead of three places to host the mob of 40 due to staffing shortages. The first place only had one person servicing the group. She did an amazing job but it took longer than needed. Also the prices were outlandish ($25 for a glass of red wine). I don't know if prices are COVID related or tour "specials". The second place made us sit outside in below freezing temperatures and were very rude to those who went inside to warm up. OMG!!! "Matthew" was also very rude when we mentioned it was cold. He basically told us to suck it up without an apology. OMG!!! This tour is pointless and a shame. What ever you do DO NOT pay $28 for this pointless, boring, unentertaining shame of a tour. OMG!! read more

Two of my girlfriend and I wanted to do a haunted ghost tour while we were in Galena. We looked at another haunted pub crawl and when we were in the store asking information about it we were told no ones was signed up and if we did it sign up within an hour it would be canceled.... Anyway we moved on... From there we heard about Matthew through word of mouth.... We went into his store and decided this is how we wanted to spend our night... What a great experience! Matthew himself is a funny, personable guy, and his tour was packed full of great ghost stories. We had plenty of chances to play with the paranormal equipment, and we were impressed with how well he and the bars worked together to ensure a large group of people who arrived all at once could be served. My sister and I were with a group of probably twenty that did include one loud, rude, drunk guest, and I was also impressed with how professional Matthew was in dealing with her outbursts.
