Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Mattress Firm on Coburg Road in Eugene. We placed an order totaling $500 for two pillows that required delivery. Before they arrived, our family received pillows as a Christmas gift and ended up loving those. When the Mattress Firm pillows were delivered, we never opened the box. Within a few weeks of purchase, I returned to the store to request a refund. Despite the pillows being unopened, unused, and brand new, the store refused to take them back. What made this experience significantly worse was the behavior of the store manager. She was rude, dismissive, and completely indifferent to the financial impact this had on our family. She refused to be helpful in any way, would not allow me to speak with anyone else or escalate the issue, and essentially shut the conversation down in a hostile manner. Being treated with this level of disrespect while being denied a refund for $500 of unopened merchandise is outrageous. There was no empathy, no customer service, and no professionalism shown. I strongly advise anyone considering shopping at this location to be extremely cautious and to get return policies in writing. Based on this experience, I will never shop here again. read more

absolutely not a good experience. The salesperson was alone and kept interrupting to go to other people, he did not demonstrate the bed and did not tell us that this bed rises in one direction. Up! The bed is dangerous. A person with dementia or some other impairment, or even accidentally, would end up on the floor. The bed would simply dump them. What if they could not get up? This should have been pointed out to us at the point of purchase. Also, a person who needed to sleep in a heads up reclining position would be on a downward slant, which would be uncomfortable and untenable. You couldn't stay there. You would continue to slide downward. When I called the store, the salesperson said I had to pay 250.00, to return the bed. I think this is unfair. The bed is unsafe. He would not give me a supervisor's name or number and says that there is no one in a supervisory capacity he would give me a name or number to. This is wrong! read more

The end result is that I'm happy and I would have given 3 stars, but I had to do SO MUCH WORK to get to this point. In the end I was refunded the full delivery fee and they even offered to come back and pick up the box spring they left behind, but it had been weeks, I have a small apartment and I already took care of it. But to get to this point, I had to send an email to their customer service team, who then called me and basically told me "Well I wasn't there for that conversation so I cannot confirm what he did or did not tell you." Seriously? If you're going to call to mitigate the situation, why have an attitude and talk to me like that? Went to look around for a new bed for my older daughter, not being from here we had no clue were to even start. I googled the closest furniture store that specializes in beds and it brought us here. I'm glad it did. This store had a great selection of all types of beds and I was surprised my daughter found one she liked within 20 minutes. Very impressive for a teenager. We paid for the bed and it was delivered early that Monday morning before she returned home from school. Something I thought would be a all day thing was faster then going back to school shopping. I came in here earlier this afternoon with my brother. We needed to buy a new mattress for my mom, as she's having trouble with her current mattress and discomfort. We wanted her to have a better one because we've really been noticing a big problem with her and having leg pain, and she isn't sleeping well. My brother had bought his mattress here and loved the experience, so he wanted to come back here. We walk in and were immediately greeted by an employee. My brother asked for Ben Llorente, the manager of the store. Ben was the one who sold my brother his mattress and he raved about the experience. My brother is that one customer who is an absolute pain in the ass and quite demanding. So for him to say good things about Ben, they must be true, and Ben went out of his way to help. After hearing my brother describe his experience, I found that we had the exact same thing from Ben the second time around. My brother, once he has found a store/person like Ben, he doesn't comparison shop. He just goes in and deals with them and them alone. He does the same with cars and the dealership he uses, and many other businesses. Today, we were looking for a good mattress for mom. We explained the problems she was having and why. Ben asked multiple questions and was just really helpful. He showed us different options, and we picked out the one we thought was best. We also bought her a new pillow from the store to enhance the experience. I've got her new bedding, so she has everything, and I'm very excited for Tuesday when it is delivered. In picking out the frame, Ben asked how much mom weighed, not exact numbers, but if she was heavier, and if she would be flopping into bed due to her leg problems, and a few other questions to determine which frame would suit her the best. I really appreciated this because it felt like Ben was paying good attention to what we were saying about why we were there to buy a mattress and making sure we were buying what was best for mom to be perfect and really get it right the first time. The whole experience was very quick. I checked in on Yelp because there was a deal about a frame and a discount. I literally did this as I walked into the store. My brother commented about how quick our shopping trip was in there. So once again, I checked Yelp to see how long it has been. 32 minutes. Ben helped us pick out a mattress, set up the delivery, and do the financing stuff, and send us out the door in 32 minutes. It didn't feel rushed either. It was just efficient. Ben chatted with us as we were going through everything, talked about prices. He also really worked to give us some good discounts and save us money where he could, and it was clear he takes care of repeat customers. Would I return? Absolutely. I was looking at Yelp to read reviews, and I noticed every single review, even the ones in the not recommended section were 5 stars. They have an absolute gem of an employee in Ben. I would definitely go back when it's time for me to buy my own mattress. The customer service, the speed and efficiency, the attention to detail in finding the perfect fit for mom, all of that equaled one fantastic experience. My mother's comfort is extremely important to me for whatever time I have left with her, and it honestly felt like Ben treated this sale with the same care, almost like he felt how important it was. I had the worst consumer experience of my life dealing with this Mattress Firm in Eugene, OR. Do not believe for one second that you can easily return the bed after a 100 day trial. I ended up returning the bed, partially because I never received the pillows and sheets for which I payed $700 (which where supposed to come in the mail - TWICE), and partially because I thought the bed was definitely not worth the $5000 I paid. The idiot salesman at this Mattress Firm tried to refund my account, but ended up double billing, so I had an ~$11,000 bill that the bank expected me to pay - and NO BED! The bank (Synchrony - your only choice and the absolute worst) ended up doing an investigation for fraud, which eventually worked out in my favor. I will never EVER buy a Mattress from Matress Firm again, and I whole-heartedly recommend the same to all my friends and family. I don't think Matress Firm itself is a bad company, but I do believe those at this location (and Corvallis, OR) are incredibly incompetent with customer support, and very deceptive salesmen. read more
