Well, I probably dont go mattress shopping as often as I should but as it turned out I was badly in need of one so without knowing much about the subject, off I went to several places to see what I could learn. I found that when I told each of them that I wanted a firm mattress they all wanted me to lay down on the ones they had there on the floor and try them out. They all huffed when I said that that wouldn't work for me because the truth is, every dang one of them would all feel good at that moment after a long day and that I really wouldn't know for sure until after I had slept on it for 8 hours. And of course, they all assure me that theirs was the best. So, after all was said and done, I went for the firm memory foam mattress from The Mattress Company. The gal gave me the best deal and she threw in the recommended mattress protector for cost, and, I liked her attitude, humor and personality after having to put up with me and all of my nonsensical questions. So, after a few months of getting use to the firm memory foam mattress I like it pretty well. I dont expect to have to go mattress shopping for quite some time but when I do need a new mattress my first stop will be The Mattress Company. read more

My proverbial hat is off to Jenny and the other fine folks at The Mattress Company near Valley River Center in Eugene. I have rarely received better customer service than my recent interaction with them. A bit over three years ago, my partner bought a motorized adjustable frame and mattress. Three days ago, it stopped going up and down. Unfortunately we could not find ANY information, not the purchase date, not the method of payment, and most importantly, as it turned out, no operation manual either. We couldn't even remember the name of the store (although we did recall the location). So, after a false start, we were able to contact the store, who still had the record of our purchase, and was kind enough to email us a copy. I contacted the service company and filled out a lengthy online questionnaire and uploaded it. Turns out the warranty had expired earlier this year in January. So, we called the store again. The gentleman I spoke with suggested I change the batteries in the remote. I questioned this as the remote did light up and appeared to be functional, but he explained that sometimes that will happen but with weak batteries it won't transmit properly. Good to know. So, I changed the batteries. Then the fun truly began. Without the owners manual, what do I do to pair the remote with the bed? I know, I will search for the answer on line. Instead of an answer, I got TWO answers. By this time, the warranty company had received my info but denied our claim since it was out of warranty. The gentleman I spoke with told me how to pair the remote. I followed his directions and it continued to not work at all. So, I phoned the store again. Everyone I spoke with was pretty certain the remote was to blame and not the motor mechanism. So, we ordered another remote. Jenny went out of her way to make sure the remote was obtained from the warehouse the very same day, and so I went there to pick it up, but had the presence of mind to bring the old, presumably bad remote with me. When I arrived at the store, they were expecting me and Jenny had the new remote all ready to go. I asked if they would please show me how to pair the remote since I had been given two conflicting methods. Well, it turned out there was a THIRD method of pairing. By this time, you are probably ahead of me. Sure enough, after we tried pairing the new remote, I had to try the third method of pairing on my old remote. Sure enough, the third method worked, and I didn't have to buy the new remote after all. Jenny and the other two men were almost as happy as I was that I ended up not having to buy anything at all. BUT Jenny did say that, when I got home, if it still didn't work, they would make sure their tech would come out the same day, at a trip charge of just $30, to make sure everything was okay! Well, further assistance wasn't necessary. When I got home, I tried the same pairing method that worked at the store, and sure enough, it worked just fine, saving my partner and I LOTS of money. Jenny and her associates were more concerned with making sure I was taken care of instead of just trying to make a sale, which they easily could have done. I told them I was sorry they had to make a special trip to the warehous to get the new remote, now unnecessary, but they assured me it was no problem. It's been a really long time since I had such excellent customer service when no money exchanged hands. Needless to say, The Mattress Company has more than earned our repeat business, and my partner and I will certainly tell everyone we know that if they are in need of a new mattress or frame, that there was only one place in town that they needed to go. So many choices , but we had friends who had purchased from Daisy before and we had talked to her at the home show earlier this year. Daisy does not pressure, made some great suggestions, went and looked yesterday and back today to buy. She has been doing this for 17 years and knows what she is doing. This is a local business with free delivery, free return, 120 day guarantee...even if I could get the mattress someplace for very little less money, it would not be worth it...AT ALL. A big thank you to these guys!!! I love my Tempupedic bed! They worked with me on what beds would be best to help avoid pressure sores, I'm paraplegic. The sales person was very sensitive to my needs and seemed more interested in helping me find a bed that would help keep me healthy than up selling me to the highest price bed with all the bells and whistles. They know their products and you can tell by their professionalism that this is their main focus...unlike the department stores or big box stores. My husband and I were so happy with our mattress and the service we received that we went back and bought a bed from them for our son. read more

Update: I am writing an update to my previous review at the request of the Mattress Company; who felt so strongly about my poor review that I received TWO phone calls about it. We finally reached an agreement where we could exchange the mattresses and deliver the old ones/pick up the new ones at the warehouse to avoid the delivery fee. We DID get a mattress exchange, supposedly the same mattress, just without the two inch top. There is no way that is the case. The original mattresses were so soft they had sink holes in the center. The new mattresses are so hard, we might as well be sleeping on plywood and we will have to buy toppers anyway. The only bonus is that the new mattresses don't have a dip in the center. The level of friendliness was definitely changed by my bad review. The employee that met us at the warehouse couldn't even be bothered to say "hello". He did help to unload and reload the mattresses--this would have been a perfect opportunity for The Mattress Company to help repair our poor opinion of them. Instead, it just helped to highlight what a bad experience we have had with this company, Original Post: Please don't waste your time and money. Purchased two beds, frames, and covers. We spent more than our intended budget even after we received a discount (we thought this was a good thing) because we really liked the mattresses we laid on. The staff was friendly and helpful and we were happy until our beds arrived. The beds we laid on at the store were great, but the ones delivered had dips in the middle and were nothing like the ones we picked. When we tried to do the "comfort exchange", all the attitudes changed. We were told that beds settle when you start to sleep on them, we picked a really soft bed, and several other excuses. When we tried to upgrade to a different mattress, instead of paying the $200 cost difference, we were expected to pay that plus the discount amount and a $100 delivery fee. We had an associate helping us until we declined to purchase an adjustable base (for an additional $900), then we were told we would have to wait for our original associate to return to work. Two wasted trips to Eugene from Oakridge, at the request of The Mattress Company, and still our exchange has not been done. read more

I worked with Denise in the Springfield location and she was fantastic. She made it a low pressure environment and spent time helping me make the right decision. The prices were fair and Denise's service skills were great. I'm giving the experience a middle of the road rating because the speed of delivery for my items was/is ridiculously slow. It's taken 2 1/2 weeks for just my mattress and box spring and I was told it will be 4-6wks to get my bed and side tables. I've purchased furniture many times from other furniture stores and even when my items needed to be made I've never waited more than 3 weeks. I wish I would have between told in the beginning it would take so long because I likely would have purchased the furniture somewhere else. read more

Denise that helped us, went way and beyond to tell us about every mattress we looked at and when we shared our budget, she showed us what was available. Honestly, my husband and I dreaded the whole bed-buying experience, but Daisy made it all painless. We never felt rushed or pressured to buy a certain kind of bed. She gave us all the information we needed to make the best choice for our budget. And as wonderful as Daisy was, the bed we purchased was just as wonderful. I have chronic back pain and had been getting cortisone injections. Not any more! Daisy showed me how to adjust the bed perfectly to take all the pressure off my back. My girlfriend and I came into this store on Black Friday afternoon to lay on an Englander latex mattress to see how they feel. Of course, we ended up laying on a bunch of mattresses all over the store, and spent an inordinate amount of time on the Tempurpedics, as they are obscenely comfortable. The sales associate was quite pleased, and gave us all kinds of different pillows to try, and ran us through all of the bells and whistles on the movable base models. There were a couple other patrons in the store over our hour there, but it was mostly just us, and the saleswoman was quite attentive. She decided she needed to close the deal, apparently, because she asked us which bed we wanted to buy. We said we wanted to think about it (the model we liked was $4200), and needed a little time. She became visibly agitated and turned up the heat on the hard sell, making it seem as though there was no acceptable reason for us to not buy the mattress at that very instant. At which point we shut down, and said we just weren't ready. She stomped off like a child throwing a tantrum (we were all sitting on the Tempurpedics), and went back to the front desk where she thought she was out of earshot, to complain to the other sales associate about how we had wasted her time. We were upset, and drove to a different mattress store that very evening to buy the mattress. My aunt and uncle live in Eugene, and are in desperate need of a new mattress, and (needless to say) I will be steering them toward a Tempurpedic, and away from The Mattress Company. Does the hard sell really work on anyone?? UPDATE: After posting this review, I was contacted by the store owner. He was really upset about they way we had been treated and was very apologetic. He made it quite clear that he doesn't approve of anyone being pressured into buying a mattress of any kind, and seemed to genuinely want to make things right. Hopefully, my experience was a total anomaly, and it never happens again. I've bumped the original review up from 1 to 3 stars accordingly. read more

We bought a bed and a mattress on the 3rd of January. We we received the mattress in less then a week. The bed we were told would take 6-8 weeks as the vendor was going build it. 8 weeks came and went with no bed or update as to the progress of it. When we called to check on the status we were told within a week hopefully but that they would check with the vendor and get back to us. When they called to say it should be done next week my wife told them the customer service and no status updates on our order was poor customer service. And while telling them, the employee she was dealing with started getting loud, cutting her off and saying it wasn't in their control to get it here any quicker. She tried saying how he was speaking to her was unacceptable but he kept doing it and she just hung up. Two days later they call us and tell us our bed is in and they can deliver it that day. We say sure and when the bed shows up its the WRONG ONE. read more
