I can't believe I'm posting about a mattress store but here goes. Everyone knows buying a mattress is difficult. Brands and models are confusing not to mention rarely comparable between stores. Prices fluctuate from inexpensive enough to wonder what's wrong to expensive enough to consider skipping meals for several months to afford. Mattress Firm is better than most but Peter at the Ridgewood store is AMAZING. He calmly, politely and expertly helped my daughter replace her recently purchased mattress with one better suited to her sleeping habits and comfort level without breaking my credit card on the change fees and price. (Nothing against the original sales person at same store, this was my daughter's first bed purchase for her first apartment straight outta school and it just didn't work out after a few weeks.) Peter helped us in one language while also guiding a newly hired colleague on processes and engaging her clients in another language. Realizing my daughter was new to the area, he also suggested a few places to eat and shop for household basics. read more

BAIT AND SWITCH!! I was in need of a mattress, to be delivered to an address less than two miles from this location; hence, why I chose this store. As I was 1800 miles away, I made it very clear to the sales person on the phone that I needed to know the models in the warehouse that could be delivered. Of course the model I chose wasn't "immediately" available, so "coincidentally" a model that cost $500 more was....so he said. He was emphatic that I had to complete the order by 2PM EST, so I interrupted my day for 45 minutes while we "finished" the transaction over the phone. This included his sending me a payment link at least twice, both of which did not work. Finally, after holding up two other people so I could complete the transaction verbally, he assured me it would be delivered the next day. When I called to ask if a delivery window had been determined, I was told that the mattress was not on the truck and wasn't in the warehouse....as in it had never been there to begin with. CHRIS VALENTIN was the person who answered the call about my delivery, gave me the honest story about availability/delivery, and gave me a discount for being duped and lied to regarding the mattress, understanding that I had nothing to sleep on until three days later. Does this store manager condone salespeople lying to customers just to make a sale? Is this part of the sales training? I'm grateful to Chris for stepping in and finding a resolution, though he couldn't get the mattress to me when I needed it. I cannot blame him for that since it was not of his making. read more

I'll begin by saying in HIGHLY recommend this place, & a shout out to Ralph Escobar who was super helpful & took time to make sure both our needs were met. He took the time to explain the physiological importance of good sleeping position and getting the right mattress. I passed Mattress firm today and saw there was a sale going on so I decided to go inside. Upon entering I noticed one salesman and he was helping a customer. He looked up as I walked in but Never greeted me. I proceeded to try mattresses alone and when I was done I began to walk out. As I neared the front of the store to exit, Another salesperson walked in named Peter. I could tell he was trying to get back in and straight to work but he stopped me in my tracks and asked if I had been helped. I told him no but by that time I had tried a few mattresses and I was ready to go. He was so nice to me that I decided to go ahead and let him help me. I ended up getting a new mattress the same day and at an amazing price. He was so patient with me and I'm glad I decided to go in. I have purchased mattresses from this store twice in the past several years, and on both occasions they provided excellent service and where there to help me find a mattress I liked. They weren't salesy or pushy and were a pleasure to interact with, unlike some other mattress stores I have visited. Even their delivery men were pleasant although they had to carry the items up flights of stairs. I highly recommend them! Me and my husband walked in back in February to try out mattresses right before the COVID fallout. We were greeted by Peter who was something sort of a mattress angel. He asked us questions to determine what we needed. Yes we had back pain, woke up uncomfortable and upset every morning. He guided us by trying out specific mattresses to gauge how firm or soft we wanted the mattress. He then showed us different brands and the different builds mattresses take and demonstrated some of the technologies that mattresses now have. He explained a lot of stuff that even googling information you wouldn't have come across with his own personal experiences and being in the business for a while. This is why we have professionals! We went home knowing exactly what we wanted once we came up with a budget. Then COVID lockdown happened and we waited longer. Couple months later with restrictions lifted we were so fed up with our poor sleep we finally went back and Peter was there. Not only did he remember us but also remembered everything that we discussed. He actually lead us directly to the mattress we were interested in, remembering after all these months with the craziness of COVID. The store was very precautious with masks and sanitary sheets if you wanted to try a mattress out. We are very happy with our purchase. We had purchased a mattress at a New Orleans location for my son in August and had a good experience so thought we'd check out Mattress Firm first. Peter was awesome. Very knowledgeable. We tried several mattresses in the store before we found out Goldilocks bed :). Peter was super knowledgeable, he has over 15 years of experience in the mattress experience and it absolutely shows! Went in there about 2 weeks ago just to look at a dog bed that they had and i ended up getting the dog bed and a bed for us which was extremely pricey but I believe I got a good deal and Peter the sales person was really convincing on what I was looking for. All went well day of delivery of my bed but we hit a snafu with my dogs bed which was the initial reason why I went into this place and when I called back to them about the dog bed Marisol the sales girl just gave me the absolute run around and kept saying she was going to call me back and see what she can do and never called me I ended up calling her back every single time and this was Saturday so I waited for Sunday where I called and spoke with Peter who was the sales guy who sold me the merchandise and he assured me that this will get fixed and he is sorry for Marisol's run around and that he will redeliver the mattress but when I asked when he wasnt sure and said he will call me back when he gets an answer from the warehouse and that he was leaving by 7 and will call me back....Well its now Monday and I havent heard from him...Now where these guys are good sales people its just that after you walk out just hope you dont have a problem because you will get treated like you dont matter no more. read more

We then met Hector the sales rep who not only showed us various beds but also educated us on every mattress he showed us. It was an enlightening experience to learn all about our choices. I purchased a bed from here January 2018 threw Financing I was in need of a new bed and I was on a tight budget I was shown amazing comfortable bed which I made sure the bed was fit for someone plus size weight man promise it was he guaranteed bed last long time especially cooling I recieved the bed with no tickets or labels I reported they told me it was like that and after the 6 months guarantee was up the box spring broke and mattress sinks In and doesnt go back in place like they say its suppose to do once you get off the bed I'm so very disappointed due to I live on very tight budget and feel like I was taken for a fool especially I'm still doing payments on this bed. read more

I honestly wish I could rate this even lower. Do not ever purchase from any Sleepy's if possible, but especially this one. I went in with a specific bed in mind and once the salesperson ran my credit, he found out that I was approved for a very high sum and kept trying to upgrade me. He finally said that if I got all of these upgrades, he promised my monthly payments would be under $100. I told him I would only accept the upgrades if the monthly payments were under $100 because money is tight right now and I don't even want any of the things he was offering - all I came in for was a very basic bed. It was all settled and I left feeling like I got nothing that I actually wanted. When the bed arrived, it turned out I needed a split box spring. We changed the order and the delivery guys left everything but the box spring for me. In addition to all of that, the salesperson convinced me to get a King sized mattress protector for a Queen sized mattress which obviously was too big. When I called him up about this, it took a lot of convincing for me him allow me to exchange it. When the new box spring came, the delivery guys yelled at me when I mentioned I was under the impression they were supposed to remove my old box spring since I had paid for that service. They begrudgingly put together my new bed. The store didn't have the Queen sized mattress protector in stock. The store I went to in Manhattan gave me a box spring protector instead of a mattress protector and when I commented on the weight difference he said it's to be expected. I had to make an additional trip over to the store just to get everything settled. Now I have my bill from the bank Sleepy's works with and my monthly payments are $109. I called up the store and he said it's because of the split box spring. This wasn't what I signed up for. I didn't even want a $5,000 bed. For all I care, they can take the whole thing back. read more

HECTOR IS WONDERFUL!!!!! Christian isn't so bad himself. ;-) No-but seriously....what a fantastic experience!! My fiancee and I walked into this place and was immediately greeted with big, sincere smiles, were then blown away by the electronic mattress test, were ecstatic to take home the top of the line mattress for half the price on black Friday, and impressed that we were able to find a payment plan that worked well with our financial situation. My only suggestions for Sleepy's is 1.) more delivery trucks on black Friday 2.) New paint colors and perhaps a change in music choice within the store would be excellent. I'm talking more dimly lit lights, Sade, and some calming neutral colors on the wall. Other than that-this store-and our experience in it was superb.
