Unfortunately, the problem came with the delivery- their delivery person told us he needed to put in an outlet for the dishwasher (even though we had one already installed), and that it would be $80 in addition to the $159 installation charge and $28 installation kit, and that he would not install the dishwasher without the additional payment. When making out a check, he had us make it out in his personal name, and mobile deposited the check while he was was at our house. Upon contacting the store to share how I was not very comfortable with how this went down, Gerry said he would contact the delivery team, and then I didn't hear anything from Gerhard's again for awhile. Eventually Gerhard's contacted me to explain the breakdown on their end, and promptly issued a refund for the $80. I am satisfied with their quick response, and will consider Gerhard's again for our appliance needs.

Beware of 3rd Party Delivery Service - I wanted to use Gerhards because they are a local business…read moreand I've had a good experience in the past and wanted to avoid 3rd party delivery services. Unfortunately, Gerhards has now outsourced to a disreputable 3rd party that has a very specific scheme worked out to try and hijack an extra $80 at delivery to complete installation. When I placed my order for a washer and dryer I specifically confirmed with Gerhards that I wanted to keep my dryer hardwired. Their website mentioned that their standard delivery service might not be able to handle electrical work and I didn't want any issues at delivery. I made full payment for installation, including dryer hardwiring and parts, and was satisfied that I wouldn't have any issues. When the two delivery guys arrived they walked in with an outlet in their hand and immediately said that I would need to pay $80 to install the outlet. The outlet was a standard 3-prong grounded outlet, which I already had on my wall for the washer. I could understand if the outlet they brought in was a 4-prong dryer outlet, at least that might hint at a miscommunication. I tried to explain that I wanted the dryer kept hardwired and that I had already discussed this with Gerhards. I had difficultly communicating because neither could speak much English and were also very young, but they insisted I needed this outlet installed. One of the delivery guys called his dispatch and had me talk to his extremely rude manager who confirmed the $80 cash ransom. However, he explained to me the $80 was actually for the hardwiring I wanted and not the outlet they had initially brought in. I called Gerhards sales and confirmed that I had fully paid for installation, including the dryer hardwiring, and handed the phone to the delivery person to confirm. He then proceeded to call his dispatch manager again who insisted on the $80 payment. I was fed up and cancelled my order and asked for a full refund. I can see there are other reviews that explain the exact same scenario. To be clear, this was definitely not a miscommunication between Gerhards and the sales team, nor a realization upon delivery that safe, grounded outlets were not available. The 3rd party Gerhards outsources has a very specific scam worked up to try and grab an extra $80 for installation. Gerhards may resolve the issue after the fact if you complain enough and they pressure the 3rd party to relent, but it is not an accident!! It's beyond me why Gerhards continues to do business with this delivery company. This incident actually reminds me of a similar scam at oil change places where they try and convince you a worn-out oil plug they have in the garage is yours and needs replacement. Unless you're installing the appliances yourself, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

He was able to schedule delivery for the date I needed. The very bad - delivery service, which they charge $99 + tax for, was horrible. I received an email the day before the delivery date with a 3 hour delivery window - 10:30am-1:30pm and a website link to track the delivery. At 1:30 the projected time slipped to 2pm. At 3pm the driver finally called and said he would be there in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later he called and couldn't find the assisted living facility. I gave him directions and after another 3 calls with him he finally arrived at 4pm. The next day I spoke with Chris, the store manager, to complain and he immediately said they would refund the delivery charge and was extremely apologetic for the delivery problems even though it is totally out of his control. Hey Corporate Management - listen up - you need to significantly improve your delivery service. It reflects poorly on the company and makes it really hard on great store associates like David and Chris to do their jobs.
