I have been in the Human Resources field for over 16 years. My family recently relocated back to Orange County after 14 years, so I needed to find a job quickly... very expensive to live here :) I submitted my resume to Mattson Resources on a Friday for an HR position they had posted on the internet, Lesley Peterson called me Monday acknowledging receipt of and asking questions regarding my resume, and invited me to interview, which I accepted. She recommended some re-structuring of my resume... I took her advice and submitted my revised resume that evening. I received a call from Lesley Thursday afternoon informing me that she has an interview for me with a client, Friday at 10:30 am... can I make that interview? Although I had plans to spend time with another organization discussing potential employment opportunities as a consultant, I accepted the interview scheduled by Lesley at Mattson Resources. That interview was amazing... Lesley was able to truly understand me, my skills, and personality to the extent that she must have known I would be a great fit for her client. Approximately 5 pm Friday, I received a call from Lesley Peterson from Mattson Resources informing me that the organization I interviewed with that morning, would like to extend an offer of employment to me!! I am glad I was offered an opportunity to write a review of Mattson Resources and in particular their agent Greg Athans, who represented me to his client company in such a competent manner. From the start, when I submitted my updated resume to Greg for review, who made contact with me to discuss a job opportunity with a client company. Greg had viewed my resume online and determined I would be a good fit for the position this company was anxious to fill. I submitted my resume to Greg for review and Greg gave me some very valuable suggestions to improve my resume. Subsequently, his client was now interest in interviewing me, first through a brief phone screening and thereafter through an onsite interview. Greg's advice and preparation for both phone screen and onsite interview were, I believe, critical to presenting myself best to the client company. I had posted my resume on two of the job boards (CareerBuilder and Monster) and the second day after I had posted my resume received a voicemail from Linda Kirchmann from Mattson expressing an interest in my resume and asking me to call her stating she "had been looking for someone like me". It was very positive message and I called her back as soon as I received it. We set up an appointment to meet a day or two later. After our meeting she had an appointment set for me with employer which went very well and by the end of the week I was offered the job. Linda stayed on top of the whole process and made sure to follow up with me. My past luck with agencies has been very spotty and I couldn't be more pleased with how this whole process went. I was expecting to take an lessor salary and she was able match my previous earnings (I was high average for my job category in customer service). Lori Singer is the most unprofessional recruiter I've ever met. She called me to schedule an appointment so that we could chat about an opening she had. She sent me an email to confirm the appointment time, and much to my surprise , she left me sitting in the lobby for 30 minutes without ever coming out to apologize. Let me start by stating, I am not your typical superficial O.C. guy; but this woman was a hot mess. She reminded me of Mimi from the Drew Carey show. Her makeup was absolutely hideous, and her attire was even worse. She was adorning some type of moo moo, a dressed up pair of flip flops, and she smelled of heavy cheap perfume. I can't help but wonder if her clients have ever seen her?? Thankfully I had another appointment with a recruiter scheduled later that day, and was placed at my current position within 4 days. I am now the hiring manager for a reputable company in Orange County, and although we use recruiters for all of our executive and technical positions, I can assure you, we will never use Mattson. read more

I had a very positive experience with Sean Goulding at Mattson Resources. I was already happily employed at a great company, when I got an unsolicited e-mail from Sean about a high-level position at another company in the same industry, but closer to home. A few preliminary e-mails and phone calls to Sean established that the new position aligned with my interests, and that the compensation and benefits were attractive. Sean arranged a phone interview with HR at the new company. After this, he scheduled an initial and follow-up in-person interview with upper management. These interviews went well, and when the company decided to make me an offer, Sean negotiated a salary toward the upper end of the range he had quoted at first. I received a call from Kristen Anderson asking me to come in for an interview. I made an appointment but I wasn't sure if I was going to actually show up. But I am very glad I did. I went in to my interview and was immediately put at ease by Kristen. She was professional yet very caring and understanding. When I left the interview with her I felt uplifted and confident and encouraged. The following week I went on a temp job for 3 days. As soon as that job was finished I was sent on a temp to hire job. I worked for a week and was offered a position with the company. I truly believe without the words of encouragement from Kristen I would not have had the confidence to start a new job.
