It also has other things going on. The park itself provides good trails for hiking, and there's also a train. It has several exhibits for children. It has a dinosaur exhibit they can run around in. There's also a live animal area they can get up and close with. It has a large variety of birds. There's a few other animals like turtles. If you would like to see nature outside the exhibit, there's plenty of that as well. It has a good amount of hiking trails that go around the park. The other cool thing is that there's a train so you can avoid walking. It's not needed since the park is fun to walk around. The train goes around the park so you can see the exhibits. One other big event is at Halloween. It has lots of mildly scary characters lurking around. This is scary enough for kids but it's not like it's so scary they crap themselves.

Peaceful, Beautiful, and Always Worth the Walk…read more Sheldon Marsh is one of those places that just hits every time, no matter the season. The paved trail makes it super easy for anyone to enjoy--perfect for a peaceful walk, birdwatching, or just soaking in some fresh air. It's quiet, full of wildlife, and there's always something new to catch your eye. One of my favorite parts is when the path opens up to the beach. You get this wide view of Lake Erie, and if you look out far enough, you'll spot the Cedar Point coasters in the distance. It's a cool little reminder of home--nature in front of you, thrill rides in the background. If you're up for a bit of a longer walk, you can follow the beach all the way down to the Point Retreat condos and back. It's a beautiful stretch along the water and gives you even more time to enjoy the lake breeze. And if you're a golf fan, the newly updated Sawmill Creek Golf Course runs right alongside the preserve. You might catch a few swings and even spot a bird or two between shots. Whether I'm home with family or just need a place to reset, Sheldon Marsh is always worth the visit. One of the best spots in Ohio, hands down.

It has a splash pad, pond, playground, sand box, etc. all contained and easy to take kids of all ages. The indoor part is great especially for adults. If you come in the evening they have an area with a 90 degree pool and hot tub that only adults have access to. They are also great about enforcing the rules.

A few benches are along the way. Call to get a tour with a naturalist using golf cars! Along our walk we saw a baby mole scurrying along the grass. A Monarch caterpillar was on a milkweed plant, and the milkweeds are everywhere. Love trees? Lots of oak trees and others line the paths. Redwing blackbirds were chirping. In the mornings and evenings I've was told you can see a lot of deer. A shelter is available for group events. There are a few picnic tables under the trees. More tables are needed.
