This is a great place to workout, and the family memberships are appropriately priced. We have been members here for 14 years. Our kids learned to swim here and attended the camps during summer break. Although this is not the largest gym on Maui, it has spin classes, yoga, weights, racquetball courts, and a swimming pool. For families with young children, including babies and toddlers, you can pay a nominal fee for child watch while you workout. On some evenings they have child watch for couples that want to go out on a date. Swim classes are on Saturdays, but you can also do private lessons. This is good for younger children that are shy and need extra attention. They have camps during Spring, Winter, and Summer breaks. During summer, the cooking camp is especially popular and fills up the fastest. The swimming pool is heated and is a popular hangout, especially on weekends. The Y offers a lot of options. Although it gets crowded in the morning with seniors and teens in the late afternoon, it is less crowded and cleaner than the other gyms in town. read more

Im really disappointed with the new management There are two courts specifically built for racquetball and handball (That's the only reason many of us joined the ymca ) And the management tries over and over to turn it into everything else except what it was built for And every time we have a new management we have to go through that again There are members who come from other islands to play and from the mainland to play just to find out you don't know for sure if you can play This is unacceptable Please do the right thing and use the courts for what they were built for ! read more

There is no place like the Maui Family YMCA! Such great energy and sooo many classes, a great gym and the crown jewel.... THE POOL!! ‍

Everyone keeps asking me why I've always been a member of the YMCA. Apart from the fact that I enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and hate having to contend with musclebound freaks for weight machines and free weights, and that I enjoy keeping to myself and not dealing with the pathetic people who pick people up at the gym, the AWAY program is heaven for travelers. And usually, they don't even charge you (but if they do, it's like $3) I've used the YMCA in lower Manhattan a dozen times, the one in London (which would be like 35 pounds for a day pass otherwise) and even the one in Istanbul (where the gym culture is not as prolific as it is here), and now the Maui location on several occasions. It's clean. simple. they've got a smith press, lots of machines, mats, yoga balls, bosu balls, free weights, a little rust (thanks to the humidity) on everything, but if you wear gloves it just brushes off. The racket ball people here are freakin religious about their sport btw. And there's tons of free parking and everyone there is super nice. I would like to give 5 stars but to be realistic I need to make it a 4, but I also want to make it clear I would go back here in a heartbeat. Such a friendly vibe and comfortable atmosphere... We had a great experience here...Ashley & Michelle at the front desk were VERY friendly and helpful, with a great sense of humor too. The gentle yoga instructor, Darnita, was good also...very kind and sweet with such a peaceful demeanor that's perfect for this class format. We only paid $3 each as visiting members from the Mainland under the YMCA AWAY program. Great deal! Why do I subtract a star? Well, it's an older facility (though kept up well). The cardio equipment and spinning class are all in the same room and it just happened that the class was in session while we were on the treadmills. It was a bit distracting since the instructor was REALLY enthusiastic - which of course is a good thing if you are in that class. :) As I have said in more than one of my reviews, 4 stars is still good and I'd rather see someone come and be pleasantly surprised by a 5-star experience than to expect high-end luxury and be disappointed. I gave this place a try with the sole purpose of using their weight room. Firstly, their prices are OUTRAGEOUS for what you're getting. It's a tiny facility that quickly maxes its capacity. More than that, the place is FILTHY. You'd think with what they're charging they could afford a vacuum. Secondly, many times that I've been their A/C has been broken! For a gym in Hawaii, this is a must. Maui Family YMCA earns three stars because the staff are kind, and they don't have obnoxious music blaring like other gyms. They lose two for the lack of cleanliness and the underwhelming class offerings (most are for a senior-type athleticism, a pass for me). read more

After a few carb-heavy eating days, I was desperate for a gym. I had poked around a bit online and found this place was actually pretty close to where we were staying. They have s good variety of cardio machines, racquetball courts, and a smallish weight room. The woman at the desk was friendly, and the machines were clean, and well maintained. This is not a fancy schmancy gym, no TV's, no towel service. Personally, I don't need that stuff, so it was completely adequate for me:) I would absolutely come back next time I'm in Maui. read more

Attending the YMCA for about 5 months now. Staff are Friendly and seem to enjoy working at this location. I enjoy the Spinning Classes with Greg and Tasha some of the bike could use a little TLC though. The Pool is clean offers a good change of pace workout. If you lift weights YMCA weight room is the real thing, just Machines and Free Weights in a compact space. Overall a Decent Place to Workout. read more

YMCA A+ program is not so good, the program is ok where your kids basically watch themselves however the payment options are horrible! They do not bill you, offer automatic bill payments, accept payments at the sites AND if you are a day late from the 1st of each month you are charged $5 per day. I am old school where I need an email or bill to remind me a payment is needed & when due, if not I auto pay from my bacnk account so I don't need to worrry about it........not so good! read more

It was the glowing Yelp reviews and three dollars that drew our family to the Maui YMCA Christmas 2013. Being members at other YMCA's we expected the quality facilities and family orientation, but what we encountered set the standard for all Ys. From the different front desk employees to all the various instructor personalities, we enjoyed everything each person had to give. We took at least 8 classes and loved each one. We bought cool Maui YMCA shirts and also enjoyed chatting with Christine. We had one sad encounter with a yoga instructor who regretted the interaction she had with a visiting couple. Fortunately my standoff distance was greater than the gentleman who had unknowingly laid his mat near her usual area. Her choice of words and gestures combined with her entry of "Don't you guys have anything better to do" betrayed her gifts and turned away the upstanding unsuspecting couple. Like a family she and the class worked out her holiday stress, but sadly without the polite man and his wife who had left. I wish that articulate couple would have stayed so that we could have given her a hard time together. The best vacations are the little experiences that reveal a culture and its people. Thank you MAUI YMCA for making our vacation so much more than we could have planned for. read more

I recently joined the YMCA because of the camps they offered for my daughter.. it is usually half the price of the camps if you are a member... I decided to work out here one day and do a spinning class and it was great... the instructors are very good the price is a little steep for a YMCA about 70 a month..but they have a pool and no other gym on Maui has one....they also provide child care.. and it's only 2 dollars a hour... I would definitely recommend this gym if you live in the Wailuku area. read more
