If you own a landscaping company, this is a supplier that you probably need. They have on hand, or…read morecan order, more things than the usual home improvement centers carry. Although they cater to professional landscapers, they seem to tolerate us small fry who just own and try to keep their home looking nice. A while back, my hibiscus hedge was dying. Not all at once, though. The grim reaper started at the end and was marching down the line of plants. Long story short, the UH extension service concluded that a particular fungus was probably in the soil and working its was through my hedge. There were only 2 fungicides that could eliminate this threat and Simplot should have them. Another long story short, neither was in stock, but one could be shipped from the big island. It took over 3 weeks to get it shipped because it had to be included in a hazardous material container, although a hazardous container is sent every week. I did wind up with a lifetime supply of this chemical for the price of $75. It seemed pretty steep at the time, not knowing if it would work, but it did solve the fungus problem and the rest of my hedge lives on. Hooray! Anyway, Simplot couldn't help me on this visit. My yard guy wanted me to pick up fertilizer for my yard. He was very specific that it had to have a 10-30-10 ratio and slow release, so it wouldn't burn the grass. Simplot would surely have it on hand. Nope. Their only slow release had a 24-4-9 ratio and it came in a 50 lb bag. I only wanted 20 pounds. I wouldn't mind storing the excess, but fertilizer tends to turn sticky or hardens up over time. Besides, it's not close to the ratio I was looking for. My yard guy may have been confused. And, yes, this was only my 2nd visit to Simplot. A do enjoy walking around the home improvement stores, reading labels and comparing items. Simplot has a big warehouse, but there isn't much browsing. You talk to a guy at the front desk and he tries to meet your needs. That type of problem solving would be more satisfying if the guy seemed a bit more friendly and then I would return more often. Just saying.

Very helpful staff and a good range of products. I will definitely return for more garden supplies.read more

Quick, informative, and beautiful tour! Learned all about different plumeria and how they grow. So…read moremany beautiful varieties. We walked among the trees, so we got a bit dusty and hot in the sun but the tour is quick so it wasn't too bad. We were allowed to pick a few blossoms off each tree and we ended up with more than plenty to make a lei or two. We chose to enjoy our blossoms in a bowl of water and they easily lasted 5 days. Doug was a pleasure to work with. We picked up some cuttings to bring Maui home with us and everything was packed carefully and getting through the Ag check at the airport was not an issue at all.

Let me start by saying that these are not gift shop plumeria plants. If you want a high-quality…read moreplumeria cutting or seeds to start a plant from the beginning, this is the place. They have a huge selection of colors in stock to choose from. The prices are much more affordable than other nurseries or online tropical plant sellers. Plus, they have incredible customer service, in my case, from the business owner himself (Doug). About a year ago, we did a family cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. I purchased a gift shop plumeria cutting on a trip to Hawaii with my wife 20+ years ago. It was a great plant to have by the pool. However, when we moved there wasn't room for it and it was sold with the house. During our visit to Maui last year, I wanted to take a tour of Maui Plumeria Gardens, but we didn't have time to go after taking the kids to see the "Road to Hana." Instead, I bought a couple of gift shop plumeria cuttings at the ABC store and another color at a store inside the Honolulu airport on the way home. They are growing ok, but I still wanted better ones for my wife. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, I ordered 2 plumeria cuttings after debating the many color choices at www.MauiPlumeriaGardens.com. I received 2 very large cuttings plus a free third cutting with a seed pod on it plus a free pack of 12 seeds. After getting these, I'll never buy a gift shop plumeria cutting ever again. What a difference. One of the cuttings is already starting to sprout leaves. I'm really amazed at the difference. If you never grew a plumeria before, have no fear. They are easy to grow, and Maui Plumeria Gardens will help you every step of the way if needed. If you are in Maui, you can even book a tour to see the trees in person. They have beautiful flowers that last longer than a bouquet of roses for your significant other to enjoy for year after years. You can even make your own lei at home for a backyard luau. Do yourself a favor and check out the website or, even better, go to Maui for a tour!
